Listener comments!

  9:05am Bob:

It's a real shame they didn't get farther with the Dillard & Clark band. Fantastic stuff.
  9:07am Dave in PA:

Morning,Bob.
Is this the Mayberry Dillards? Or I might be confused...
  9:16am philfromns:

Dillard and Clark Expedition. One of my favorite albums. Way ahead of their time.
  9:29am tomB:

I'm grateful that Doug lived long enough to catch the Sundazed reissue. The Expedition music was so awesome, figured Clark &th Dillards knew each other back in Missouri. (Doug from Salem, Gene born in Tipton, about 100 mi. away). When I eventually interviewed Gene, he told me they never met till LA. We spoke further regarding Missouri as a peculiar crossroads generating several styles. Sum up, Missourians in California have an edge in fitting their music tightly, and the enthusiasm generated brings out their performance even higher.
  9:41am Dave in PA:

I just read that Doug Dillard passed away this year on my father's birthday, and George Lindsey passed away on my birthday this year - R.I.P
  9:52am Dave in PA:

More Pentangle - sweet!
  10:10am Mike East:

Just finished watching "Masque of the Red Death" with Vincent Price, A Roger Corman production. I don't get IFC, but Netflix instant has some pretty good old scifi and horror films...and no commercials
  10:10am Dave in PA:

Musical Saw = Theramin Unplugged
  10:20am the glowing one:

Bob, what's the Brainen archive? did you put a little sticker with a B on all your records and donated them to WFMU?
  10:22am G:

I always figured that meant from his personal collection, not the station's records
  10:25am the glowing one:

well, yeah. but why "archive"? I figure it's huge, but can a home collection really be called an archive? since it's only accessible to one person if it's in someone's private home.
  10:27am G:

He'd have to answer. There might be a bit of comedy in using such a formasl word, or on the other hand it might be that he personally has tens of thousands of musical recordings, quite a few obscure. That would qualify as an archive, without irony or comedy...
  10:33am G:

"Easily available to more than one person" is not part of the definition of an archive. BUT, given how many purple B's are on his playlist, over time, it seems as if many items in his archive must actually be available to anyone with internet for playing in FMU playlist archives.
  10:45am the glowing one:

whoa, what a fat sound.
  10:59am the glowing one:

great show!
  11:01am Michael:
