  3:41am
Steve:

Velvet Underground - great name for a band, Bill. From NY? Still sounds contemporary.
  3:59am

  4:22am
abby in france:

northern france. it's like english weather but not as good. the proof: they have sun today. sometimes the sun comes out around 10 pm just so you know what you missed all day long, but lately, not even. thanks for letting me vent. the music is helping.
Avatar 4:25am
Bill Mac:

Seriously? 10 pm? Is France that far north to get sun that late?
  4:27am
Jay / London:

@ abby in France the rain can not go on much longer as it will soon be June and yes the music does help
  4:28am
Jay / London:

No bill abby means 10am .. I hope ???
  4:28am
Brian in UK:

Keep my fingers crossed that the sun shines on you today Abby.
Colin Bass aka Sabah Habas Mustapha has made some great music in Indonesia. 'So La Li' is very good.
He used to DJ on the late lamented Radio MulitKulti in Berlin.

Coolness. Sky Picnic is from NYC.
Avatar 4:33am
Bill Mac:

Nice album, KP. I never saw this before. Did Taylor and May actually sign the artwork tucked within?
Avatar 4:37am
Bill Mac:

@Brian I got to get my hands on the Indonesian music at some point. I know I told you that after the show I asked Hijaz (the guitarist/violinist) how they absorbed so many musical styles... he looked at me like I was ignorant... I understand why now.
  4:38am
king penguin:

Thanks! Each band got one real one. I claimed it and I'm picking up at the framing place when i get up. First i have to get down, i guess. They also gave the album its tile and wrote liner notes.
  4:40am
king penguin:

This is funny .Bevis Frond was on last album we were on for label. Sky Picnic was on it too.
  4:41am
Rob W:

A bit late but here's the page for Colin Bass / Sabah Habas Mustapha's label: http://kartini-music.com/kartini.php. Whenever I go to the WOMEX world music conf. in Europe I'm always happy to see Colin and Ben Mandelson (also of Mustaphas, and GlobeStyle records - see http://www-personal.umich.edu/~mhuey/ben/) among the luminaries in attendance...
  4:49am
Stanley:

@ Brian did you hear his song about Arthur Askey? Very eccentric if nothing else?
Avatar 4:49am
Bill Mac:

Was Ben the one whose 3M3 pseudonym was Hijaz? They were superlative players that were more than acquainted with a dazzling variety of world music
  4:50am
king penguin:

"Sorrow's Children" is name of album. Sky Picnic is playing Cake Shop saturday night. tomorrow/today. They wil lbe happy.
  4:53am

abby in france:

Avatar 5:11am
Bill Mac:

Never a big fan but I thought the song fit into the confines of the show.... maybe it only sounds good next to what I'm playing... I also have to explain that reissues (such as this) are considered new to the station... Isn't PB dead? Just joking....
  5:12am
Looms:

Yeah, the song was alright!
  5:27am
Brian in UK:

Just got in again from walk. The swan in the local river that has been sitting on her eggs for the last four weeks or so has delivered in the last day. Cannot tell how many cygnets yet.

Brian in UK:

Henry Kaiser did a wonderful Madgascan album years ago.

Stanley Arthur Askey is a very funny man. Hello playmates.

Is this A&M produced by Manu Chao like the earlier one? Has his sound.
Avatar 5:35am
Bill Mac:

I think with David Lindley? Man Brian, you would me about credits on this CD... the printing on this thing is tiny... where's an album copy when you need it?
  5:38am
Brian in UK:

Sorry Bill. The worst I've seen are John Grant's 'Queen of Denmark' Impossible.
  5:45am
Brian in UK:

I saw him in One Stop Records in London once. He spoke to me. What does that make me worth!!!
  5:47am
Stanley:

Bill where's the magnifying glass when you need it? Discovered this great piece of equipment I use at the office. Its a ruler with a magnifying strip in the centre and it works good.
