Raleigh Moncrief live at WFMU

If you've dug the sound of new records by Ganglians and Dirty Projectors, or the guitar work in Marnie Stern's band, then you're already a fan of Raleigh Moncrief's work. The Sacramento-based producer took the web by storm with his beat-oriented Combed Over Chrome EP on the Obstructive Vibrations netlabel. Last year, he signed with Anticon to release Watered Lawn, a fantastically eclectic LP of electronic soul and psychedelic folk-hop.

Pigmeat apparently asked and got to play "de judge" on R&M Laugh-In for a season after the show started doing its recurring judge sketches with his signature line. It later became a Sammy Davis thing on the show.

@DC Pat: Depends on where you go... it's all vaguely touristy around Kuta Beach / Legian / Seminyak / Ubud but we went just after the bombings so it was fairly empty. We caught the Monkey Chant at a small temple called Pura Uluwatu on the south coast overlooking the ocean. There are many pristine areas of Bali and if you travel a bit you soon leave the tourists behind.
