You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

  Mon. 4/30/12 9:14pm craigness:

Good evening mr bodah, always a pleasure
Avatar Mon. 4/30/12 9:16pm Dan B:

Hey Craigness, welcome!
Avatar Mon. 4/30/12 9:17pm Dan B:

In the works for tonight -- some whispering/quiet singing songs with Current 93, Masaki Batoh of Ghost, Swans, Om; a Foreigner/Nurse With Wound mash up; various psych folk
Avatar Mon. 4/30/12 9:19pm Dan B:

Jesus killed Hitler
  Mon. 4/30/12 9:19pm Andrew Waterloo:

Good evening :)
  Mon. 4/30/12 9:20pm slugluv1313:

LOVED hearing the Gainsbourg/Birkin *classic* -- really helped to HEAL a thoroughly crappy day! THANK YOU, Mr. Bodah!
Avatar Mon. 4/30/12 9:21pm Dan B:

Hi Andrew & Slugluv! Glad to de-crappify a day if I can -- yay.
  Mon. 4/30/12 9:24pm PB:

"Psych-folk", sounds interesting.
Avatar Mon. 4/30/12 9:25pm Dan B:

What should psych-folk include? I was thinking Comus, Incredible String Band, Dr. Strangely Strange...open to suggestions...
  Mon. 4/30/12 9:26pm Joe Mulligan:

Another great theme Dan! If I may make a request could you throw in a little dark ambient with some hush?
  Mon. 4/30/12 9:26pm PB:

I guess the classic example is Surrealistic Pillow era Jefferson Airplane.
  Mon. 4/30/12 9:31pm PB:

Another pretty obvious (but great) one, Eight Miles High by the Byrds.
Avatar Mon. 4/30/12 9:33pm Dan B:

@PB, good suggestions, I haven't been to Jefferson-Airplane-land in a while and it might be time to trip back there.
Avatar Mon. 4/30/12 9:33pm Dan B:

@Joe Mull, anything specific?
  Mon. 4/30/12 9:36pm sinister dexter:

howdy Dan and fellew listeners ... loving the sounds here in grand rapids michigan
  Mon. 4/30/12 9:40pm RLP:

Am I the only one hearing a bit of "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" in this OM track?
Avatar Mon. 4/30/12 9:43pm Dan B:

@RLP, that's funny, I was just planning to get dig that up!
Avatar Mon. 4/30/12 9:46pm Dan B:

OK, does that Om-->Floyd transition negate the fuck up between Batoh-->Om?
  Mon. 4/30/12 9:47pm RLP:

Ah - now the original
  Mon. 4/30/12 9:47pm dave:

y'now, i was just about to come in here and say EXACTLY what RLP said, and as I came in here to say EXACTLY what RLP said, you started playing "Set the Controls", rendering my intended comment doubly unnecessary.

So thanks!
  Mon. 4/30/12 9:51pm Chop Scott:

YES! Thanks for playing the real track. OM? not a fan.
  Mon. 4/30/12 9:52pm dave:

yay, FSA! thanks!
  Mon. 4/30/12 9:53pm PB:

I love beautiful noise and this is beautiful noise.
Avatar Mon. 4/30/12 9:55pm Dan B:

@Chop Scott, sorry to hear that, I do love Om, but of course Set the Controls has been near and dear to me since my formative years. FSA = bliss.
  Mon. 4/30/12 9:57pm alea:

@Chop Scott, open your mind
  Mon. 4/30/12 9:58pm PB:

DB, this FSA album is not listed in AMG. Can you provide details?
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:00pm 12539:

Wasn't Sally Free & Easy a single or ep?
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:01pm slugluv1313:

perhaps Hafler Trio? Mystic Siva? The Savage Rose? The Freak Scene? It's A Beautiful Day? Clear Light? Lothar and The Hand People? Family? Six Organs of Admittance? Pearls Before Swine? Pentangle? Serpent Power? there are many more -- and not even sure if these "fit" into the psych-folk mode -- but what i could think of right away . . .
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:05pm RLP:

Any track from the two Syd Barrett solo albums would also prob qualify as "psych-fok"...
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:06pm PB:

Speaking of 60s acid casualties who put out an interesting record or two, Skip Spence's Oar is a very strange but very, very good album.
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:07pm slugluv1313:

YES!! was just thinking of "Oar" myself!
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:09pm RLP:

And FSA played on the Oar tribute album, so it all comes full circle...
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:11pm PB:

Slug and RLP. would you describe Oar as "psych-folk"? What about the band Rain Parade?
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:11pm steve:

more locked grooves
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:11pm G:

his patter pattern
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:13pm joe mulligan:

ok how about Einstürzende Neubauten - Zerstörte Zelle
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:13pm steve:

i guess this is close enough
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:14pm G:

osterize it!!!!
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:14pm monte:

bring the nurse
Mon. 4/30/12 10:14pm some other guy:

stop that
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:16pm 12539:

Does Foreigner get royalties for this?
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:16pm sinister dexter:

this is fucking awesome ^_^
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:16pm RLP:

PB: I guess I would call Oar "psych-folk", but it is really unclassifiable in the best sense of the word. I always thought of "The Rain Parade" as sort of self-conscious retro psych-pop. But I like them! You?
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:16pm G:

  Mon. 4/30/12 10:18pm monte:

thank you
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:18pm RLP:

Lovin' this!
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:18pm cats420:

  Mon. 4/30/12 10:19pm RLP:

Lovin' this!
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:20pm sinister dexter:

  Mon. 4/30/12 10:21pm joe mulligan:

keep it cold!
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:22pm ?:

Well if that's how it's gonna be:
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:25pm Ike:

This piece is hot! DAMN STRAIGHT.
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:28pm PB:

RLP, yes I really like Rain Parade.
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:28pm dave:

this set is a concise summary of why i listen to WFMU.
Mon. 4/30/12 10:31pm South Side of the Sky:

Were we ever colder on that day
A million miles away?
It seemed from all of eternity, yeah
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:32pm steve:

you've really outdone yourself with this one mr bodah
Avatar Mon. 4/30/12 10:38pm Dan B:

  Mon. 4/30/12 10:48pm PB:

Anyone else going to see Spiritualized next Monday?
Avatar Mon. 4/30/12 10:48pm Dan B:

@G, thanks @Richard, heya!
Avatar Mon. 4/30/12 10:56pm Dan B:

I bet $10 this is the first time Foreigner, Nurse With Wound, and Dr. Strangely Strange have ever been played in a single set together, anywhere.
  Mon. 4/30/12 10:58pm PB:

I heard them all in the same set last week on the 'PLJ morning show.
  Mon. 4/30/12 11:01pm damien:

did some shithead remake "Straw Dogs" recently?
  Mon. 4/30/12 11:04pm tr'sh:

Pomegranate with less juice..a rosehip?
  Mon. 4/30/12 11:05pm Thorndike:

Hey Dan. You meant Nick Cage, you said Nick Cave. Actually, Angelo Badalamenti did the soundtrack for the recent Wicker Man. Haven't seen film or heard soundtrack myself.
  Mon. 4/30/12 11:06pm dave:

post yr digits to the playlist and we can arrange to satisfy your desire to take a call on the air.
  Mon. 4/30/12 11:10pm Thorndike:

Hey, anyone read Rob Young's Electric Eden? Recommended for anyone interested in brit folk/psych stuff like this (or preceding tracks).
  Mon. 4/30/12 11:14pm PB:

Last psych-folk suggestion - Donovan.
  Mon. 4/30/12 11:20pm Hream:

I had no idea The Incredible String Band could creep me out almost as much Comus
Avatar Mon. 4/30/12 11:21pm Dan B:

  Mon. 4/30/12 11:26pm Tom M:

omg ecm wtf lol
  Mon. 4/30/12 11:31pm damien:

81 Seville?
Mon. 4/30/12 11:33pm some other guy:

actually all you have to do is park it illegally and not get it from the impound, not that you shouldn't donate it.
Avatar Mon. 4/30/12 11:44pm Dan B:

@damien, I think that was it. I just picture Aleister Crowley in my head every time I think of it. It weighed about 700 million tons. BTW, thanks for the Rain Parade suggestion earlier y'all
Avatar Mon. 4/30/12 11:49pm Dan B:

Hey, you know who's twitter feed is really fun to read? I mean besides @airborneevent -- Neko Case. She a funny woman!
Avatar Mon. 4/30/12 11:54pm Dan B:

@damien, yeah, that was it!
Avatar Mon. 4/30/12 11:57pm Dan B:

OK folks, I am out of here -- thanks for another enjoyable Monday night in your company
  Mon. 4/30/12 11:59pm RLP:

Thanks for a great set, Dan.
  Tue. 11/27/12 4:57pm Black Ice:

Dude, that's my car...with me in it!
