Fri. 4/6/12 12:07pm listener james from westwood:

Fri. 4/6/12 12:07pm Van in DC:

Went looking for the crab roach coach outside, but it wasn't there...settled on Thai - red duck curry & green curry chicken :)
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:08pm glenn:

eeeek. e.l.p. quotes?
Avatar Fri. 4/6/12 12:08pm Doug Schulkind:

This will all be over in an hour. Much merriment to happen first.
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:09pm earwax:

Eating a tuna fish sandwich and listening to Steinski...it doesn't get better than that...except maybe a better sandwich
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:09pm trs:

hope my stream isn't censored!
Avatar Fri. 4/6/12 12:11pm Doug Schulkind:

No mention of food allowed. I'm fricking starving.
Fri. 4/6/12 12:12pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Doug, nobody delivers to the home studio? C'mon! Our GTDS Captain needs fuel!
Avatar Fri. 4/6/12 12:13pm Doug Schulkind:

Cheese! I need cheese!
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:14pm northguineahills:

Soups Dragons? Felt like HS even though I never really listened to them.
Fri. 4/6/12 12:14pm listener james from westwood:

this is when i wish i could lower a bucket and have someone fill it with provisions. can't leave during the show!
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:17pm earwax:

Tried stuffing half a sandwich through my laptop for Doug..I guess it wasn't such a great idea.
Avatar Fri. 4/6/12 12:17pm Doug Schulkind:

Soup! I said no mention of food, Northguineahills!
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:17pm northguineahills:

I believe I got this alan lomax recording of Jelly Roll Morton from Doug.
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:17pm northguineahills:

(his blog)
Avatar Fri. 4/6/12 12:19pm Doug Schulkind:

@earwax
You'll be cleaning cole slaw outta that USB drive for months.
Fri. 4/6/12 12:19pm Wendy del Formaggio:

You do need cheese. If it were possible to transport some through fiber optics, I'd send you more than you'd know what to do with. I won't tell you how many thousands of pounds of cheese are downstairs from where I'm sitting.. for no other reason than, I don't have an exact count. let's just say "a fuck-load."
Avatar Fri. 4/6/12 12:21pm Doug Schulkind:

@Wendy del
Bad news for you:

huff.to...
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:22pm Vivian:

Whatever happened to the Soup Dragons? I never really listened to them but weren't they part of that Stone Roses, James, Happy Mondays phase?
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:24pm northguineahills:

I listened to the bands you mentiond (Vivian), but never paid attention to the Soup Dragons, I just remember they were Scottish.
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:24pm northguineahills:

as per usual, juggling the regular WFMU stream w/ Doug's
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:25pm joe:

Hey look there's Dr. John again :)
Fri. 4/6/12 12:25pm Wendy del Formaggio:

1. Sarko is a moron. He knows about as much about nutrition as he does about governing.
2. I can't imagine any smart person in France is following his lead.
Fri. 4/6/12 12:27pm Brain in KU:

There is some Sirene left from your programme Doug. Just a little olive oil & some fresh bread.

The Soup Dragons took their name from a childrens show called The Clangers.
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:28pm joe:

How can you trust a man who does not want cheese?
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:28pm Vivian:

Ha, ha! As soon as I increase the volume to hear Steinski, the horns come in! I'm sure my workmates appreciated that!
Avatar Fri. 4/6/12 12:29pm Doug Schulkind:

Steinski has begun using his wonderful mic breaks where his plays a snippet of each track as he back announces them. Brilliant!
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:30pm joe:

The Soup Dragons had a one hit with their cover of The Stones I'm Free
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:31pm Wallace:

Have you tried ewes Wensleydale?
Fri. 4/6/12 12:31pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Doug, I was just thinking how brilliant that is, the snippet/mic break thing. It helps a listener so much!
Also, I have to give a cheer for Sam Ulano. I loooooove him! YAY!
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:31pm joe:

Let me clarify I should say in the US
Fri. 4/6/12 12:31pm listener james from westwood:

no small feat considering that was prob a half hour or more extra splicing and dubbing time on steinski's part.
Fri. 4/6/12 12:32pm Van in DC:

The past few weeks has had Steinski playing the snippets when back announcing, haven't they? (Except possibly that show last week)
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:34pm Wallace:

Is it true they eat membrillo with sheeps manchego in Spain? What will they think of next.
Fri. 4/6/12 12:35pm listener james from westwood:

is sam ulano the gent who also had the talk-along instructional record for how to do drum intros for stage acts? seem to recall that getting play on fmu years ago.
Avatar Fri. 4/6/12 12:36pm Doug Schulkind:

You are RIGHT, Van. He did a couple of weeks shows ago, but not the last one. I am presenting them in chronological order, so we can assume that he was playing with the idea at first. At some point, he settles on this style and sticks with it. I've never heard anyone else do this. Ever.

@LJFW
I don't think that was Ulano, but I don't remember who it was.
Avatar Fri. 4/6/12 12:36pm Doug Schulkind:

You know what they say, gravitivity's a bitch.
Fri. 4/6/12 12:37pm Brain in KU:

The Buddy Bolden title reminded me of Roxy Gordons 'I Dreamed I Saw Joe Hill Last Night'
Avatar Fri. 4/6/12 12:38pm Doug Schulkind:

I've neglected to say hello to Vivian and Wallace. Hello!
Avatar Fri. 4/6/12 12:39pm Doug Schulkind:

Vivian and Wallace. Sounds like a high-end caterer.

Oof!! I mentioned food, dammit.
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:39pm Vivian:

Hello Doug! Balmy temps in Pittsburgh?
Fri. 4/6/12 12:40pm erella in toronto:

I love the snippet thing. It is so such a help. So frustrating to hear music, fall in love with it and not know who the musician is.
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:40pm Wallace:

Eh up, Dug. Gromit is sitting here looking wistful.
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:41pm northguineahills:

I have no idea what I'm listening to anymore juggling the two streams....
Avatar Fri. 4/6/12 12:42pm Doug Schulkind:

@Vivian
It's a sunny 49°F. At least according to my computer. I wouldn't really know. Except for the sunny part. That I can see. For myself.
Fri. 4/6/12 12:43pm Brain in KU:

ngh you can juggle water. Man, that is clever.
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:46pm joe:

Ah the old catalog *sigh*
Avatar Fri. 4/6/12 12:46pm Doug Schulkind:

  Fri. 4/6/12 12:47pm Vivian:

@ Doug, sounds like we're experiencing the same cold front. I heard March's high temps broke the record in the 'burgh.
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:48pm joe:

Hollywood Shuffle?
Fri. 4/6/12 12:48pm Van in DC:

GOT IT! That "I don't remember asking you a GD thing!" quote was from "The Negotiator" and it was Samual L. Jackson. :)
Fri. 4/6/12 12:49pm listener james from westwood:

quite probably. too early to be dave chappelle!
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:50pm joe:

Could remember if it was Hollywood Shuffle or Amazon Women on the Moon.
Fri. 4/6/12 12:50pm listener james from westwood:

it was sam, but it was from pulp fiction. from the scene where they pick up the briefcase, a couple of minutes before ez 25:17.
  Fri. 4/6/12 12:51pm trs:

Or past page 1 of the "male underwear model" image search.
Fri. 4/6/12 12:51pm Brain in KU:

Really looking forward to Steinski's premium. Au revoir agin. Have a god weekend everone.
Avatar Fri. 4/6/12 12:52pm Doug Schulkind:

From underwear to boobs, we can see where your mind is, trs, and its very entertaining.
Fri. 4/6/12 12:54pm Van in DC:

Ah, about Samuel...thought it was him snapping at the Internal Affairs guy he had tied down in a chair. Thanks!
Fri. 4/6/12 12:55pm listener james from westwood:

the scenes share the theme of interrogation!
Fri. 4/6/12 12:56pm listener james from westwood:

and now we're back to underwear!
Avatar Fri. 4/6/12 12:58pm Doug Schulkind:

It is impossible to overstate the importance of underwear.
  Fri. 4/6/12 1:02pm trs:
