  12:07pm
Van in DC:

Went looking for the crab roach coach outside, but it wasn't there...settled on Thai - red duck curry & green curry chicken :)

glenn:

eeeek. e.l.p. quotes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm

This will all be over in an hour. Much merriment to happen first.

Eating a tuna fish sandwich and listening to Steinski...it doesn't get better than that...except maybe a better sandwich

Soups Dragons? Felt like HS even though I never really listened to them.
  12:14pm
listener james from westwood:

this is when i wish i could lower a bucket and have someone fill it with provisions. can't leave during the show!

Tried stuffing half a sandwich through my laptop for Doug..I guess it wasn't such a great idea.

@earwax
You'll be cleaning cole slaw outta that USB drive for months.
  12:19pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

You do need cheese. If it were possible to transport some through fiber optics, I'd send you more than you'd know what to do with. I won't tell you how many thousands of pounds of cheese are downstairs from where I'm sitting.. for no other reason than, I don't have an exact count. let's just say "a fuck-load."

@Wendy del
Bad news for you:

huff.to...
  12:22pm
Vivian:

Whatever happened to the Soup Dragons? I never really listened to them but weren't they part of that Stone Roses, James, Happy Mondays phase?
  12:24pm
northguineahills:

I listened to the bands you mentiond (Vivian), but never paid attention to the Soup Dragons, I just remember they were Scottish.
  12:24pm
northguineahills:

as per usual, juggling the regular WFMU stream w/ Doug's
  12:25pm
joe:

Hey look there's Dr. John again :)
  12:25pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

1. Sarko is a moron. He knows about as much about nutrition as he does about governing.
2. I can't imagine any smart person in France is following his lead.
  12:27pm
Brain in KU:

There is some Sirene left from your programme Doug. Just a little olive oil & some fresh bread.

The Soup Dragons took their name from a childrens show called The Clangers.
  12:28pm
joe:

How can you trust a man who does not want cheese?
  12:28pm
Vivian:

Ha, ha! As soon as I increase the volume to hear Steinski, the horns come in! I'm sure my workmates appreciated that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm
Doug Schulkind:

Steinski has begun using his wonderful mic breaks where his plays a snippet of each track as he back announces them. Brilliant!
  12:30pm
joe:

The Soup Dragons had a one hit with their cover of The Stones I'm Free
  12:31pm
Wallace:

Have you tried ewes Wensleydale?
  12:31pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Doug, I was just thinking how brilliant that is, the snippet/mic break thing. It helps a listener so much!
Also, I have to give a cheer for Sam Ulano. I loooooove him! YAY!
  12:31pm
joe:

Let me clarify I should say in the US
  12:31pm
listener james from westwood:

no small feat considering that was prob a half hour or more extra splicing and dubbing time on steinski's part.
  12:32pm
Van in DC:

The past few weeks has had Steinski playing the snippets when back announcing, haven't they? (Except possibly that show last week)
  12:34pm
Wallace:

Is it true they eat membrillo with sheeps manchego in Spain? What will they think of next.
  12:35pm
listener james from westwood:

is sam ulano the gent who also had the talk-along instructional record for how to do drum intros for stage acts? seem to recall that getting play on fmu years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm
Doug Schulkind:

You are RIGHT, Van. He did a couple of weeks shows ago, but not the last one. I am presenting them in chronological order, so we can assume that he was playing with the idea at first. At some point, he settles on this style and sticks with it. I've never heard anyone else do this. Ever.

@LJFW
I don't think that was Ulano, but I don't remember who it was.

  12:39pm
Vivian:

Hello Doug! Balmy temps in Pittsburgh?
  12:40pm
erella in toronto:

I love the snippet thing. It is so such a help. So frustrating to hear music, fall in love with it and not know who the musician is.
  12:40pm
Wallace:

Eh up, Dug. Gromit is sitting here looking wistful.
  12:41pm

  12:48pm
Van in DC:
