In 1970, when my Dad was at Madison College, he told me there was a trip to Virginia Tech to see the MBs perform. There was a girl he wanted to get to know who was going on the trip--but the MBs cancelled, and she ditched the trip! But he did get to see the Guess Who instead.
  Tue. 4/3/12 4:51am Marmalade kitty:

Good morning Julie, listeners!!
Tue. 4/3/12 4:52am Matt from Springfield:

Hey, it is Kitty! Good morning!
Tue. 4/3/12 4:57am Matt from Springfield:

"Afyonkarahisar Battle Cry" was a live one here! We got a sneak preview of their new album then!

Remember, that's the original city in Turkey meaning "Black Fortress of Opium".
Tue. 4/3/12 4:59am Matt from Springfield:

Come and say hi!
It is not required, but that's what the boards are for!!! :)
Tue. 4/3/12 5:08am fred von helsing:

Zola Jesus was pretty excellent. Pix (only a few good really ones tho) https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150787316868885.471543.583353884&type=3&l=c3881d9090
Tue. 4/3/12 5:08am Matt from Springfield:

According to Wiki, renaissance fairs started in America, the first one being in 1963 in L.A. I don't know if the Kiwis were referring to those in the 60s, but the fairs did get a slow start in the 60s.
  Tue. 4/3/12 5:11am Marmalade kitty:

love the bunny bat! just looked at kinda kinks.. I'm pretty sure Ray Davies wrote "Nothin in the World Can Stop Me Worryin' Bout That Girl".. "wait til the summer comes along", is a Dave Davies song. Ray & Dave share credits for "Got my feet on the ground"
Tue. 4/3/12 5:11am fred von helsing:

Ya want a Renaissance fair? I always heard the one upstate (NY) was great
Avatar Tue. 4/3/12 5:12am Julie:

Yes Sterling Forest, that's the only one I have been to.
  Tue. 4/3/12 5:12am Marmalade kitty:

any plans for coming to uk this year, Julie?
Avatar Tue. 4/3/12 5:13am Julie:

not so far
Avatar Tue. 4/3/12 5:13am Julie:

London is a hard place to visit with a leg injury!
Tue. 4/3/12 5:14am Matt from Springfield:

Oh dear, is that the SAME leg injury from last year?
Avatar Tue. 4/3/12 5:17am Julie:

YEP! Yay me!
Tue. 4/3/12 5:19am Matt from Springfield:

Medicine and rational treatments have failed; time to go to a series of ever-shiftier, New Agey "alternative" practitioners!
Avatar Tue. 4/3/12 5:21am Julie:

@Matt no kidding!
  Tue. 4/3/12 5:22am other david:

*takes out hammer*

I'll have your leg fixed in no time Julie!

Morning folks :)
Tue. 4/3/12 5:24am Rob from Maryland:

Kicking too much butt, Julie?
  Tue. 4/3/12 5:24am Will:

Upgrade to bionics!
Tue. 4/3/12 5:25am Matt from Springfield:

Morning, OD!
Avatar Tue. 4/3/12 5:25am Julie:

@OD How do I think I ended up this way in the first place? :)
Tue. 4/3/12 5:25am fred von helsing:

I love this kind of guitar, sounds like Lush, what kinds of gizmos do you need to get this effect ?
Tue. 4/3/12 5:26am Matt from Springfield:

@Rob: Shhhh! Don't reveal her secret superhero identity!
Unlike most, she DJs at night, and fights crime and musical mediocrity during the day.
Avatar Tue. 4/3/12 5:26am Julie:

THAT is who is sounds like, yes!
Tue. 4/3/12 5:27am Matt from Springfield:

Yes, this guitar is like Lush--I know Julie's played this before. I'll have to remember Dreamscape, see what else they did.
  Tue. 4/3/12 5:28am Marmalade kitty:

London gearing up for the Olympics.. :) FVH, I had exactly that thought, Lush sounds
Tue. 4/3/12 5:29am fred von helsing:

Lush <3 <3 oh did I mention that I <3 Lush ?
Tue. 4/3/12 5:32am Rob from Maryland:

@Matt: It's Super Julie, saviour of wonderful music.
Tue. 4/3/12 5:33am fred von helsing:

I'm having trouble finding Dreamscape on the interwebs (it's a system of tubes). Anyone got some pointers?
Avatar Tue. 4/3/12 5:33am Julie:

It's probably Lush under an assumed name
Avatar Tue. 4/3/12 5:34am Julie:

I will see if I can get some Lush in before I go
Tue. 4/3/12 5:34am Rob from Maryland:

I am not familiar with Lush, but they have one song that sounds to me almost exactly like the Buzzcocks. It confuses me. not that I know that much about the Buzzcocks either.
  Tue. 4/3/12 5:35am Marmalade kitty:

FVH, Rickenbacker w/ phaser/echo/delay effects, etc..?
  Tue. 4/3/12 5:36am other david:

@FVH: there appears to be a bazillion bands named Dreamscape, including, but not limited to, wedding and metal bands.

Still googling
Tue. 4/3/12 5:36am fred von helsing:

A FAVORITE, the video is SO cool
  Tue. 4/3/12 5:37am other david:

Mo Dettes!
Tue. 4/3/12 5:38am fred von helsing:

Mo-Dettes - White Mice - 1979 -
"Remember - No girl likes to love a wimp"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0JCoMYpiA0
Tue. 4/3/12 5:38am Rob from Maryland:

I love all these older songs, like the Mo Dettes. Too bad I missed the set with Siouxsie and Altered Images.
Tue. 4/3/12 5:40am Matt from Springfield:

Mo Dettes are awesome!
"Dreamscape: The whispy, metal wedding band for your special occasion."
Avatar Tue. 4/3/12 5:40am Julie:

this has got to be the same band!
  Tue. 4/3/12 5:40am Marmalade kitty:

Where's Ausmanx? I went to see Jah Wobble & Keith Levene!!
Tue. 4/3/12 5:41am fred von helsing:

No no, Emma had another band until recently but Miki's been playing mommie
Avatar Tue. 4/3/12 5:41am Julie:

well the dreamscape is from the mid 90s
Tue. 4/3/12 5:42am Rob from Maryland:

This is Lush
Tue. 4/3/12 5:42am fred von helsing:

sweetness and light /
You are the sweetness in my eyes /
You are an apple in disguise
Tue. 4/3/12 5:43am Matt from Springfield:

  Tue. 4/3/12 5:44am Marmalade kitty:

Lush give me goosebumples
Tue. 4/3/12 5:45am Matt from Springfield:

I like onions.
Avatar Tue. 4/3/12 5:46am Julie:

I get that way with Cocteaus as well.. that Dreamscape thing is a mystery!
Tue. 4/3/12 5:46am Matt from Springfield:

Not to be confused with The Church's "Tristesse".

Say, what is a tristesse anyways?
Tue. 4/3/12 5:47am Matt from Springfield:

Sadness!

"Bonjour Tristesse (French, "Hello Sadness") is a novel by Françoise Sagan."
Avatar Tue. 4/3/12 5:51am Julie:

I am not entirely sure I didn't mix up the band name and the song name on this one
Tue. 4/3/12 5:51am fred von helsing:

bonjour paresse! j'adore / je dors à dark night of the soul / le travail peux s'attender
