Capsoul: Yes, but not in a while!
  8:27pm
Mitten John:

Hi G! You wouldn't know the place now, compared to 1971...
  8:30pm
G:

Yeah, I lived on Worchester Drive in early childhood (1961-71), down the street from the then-mayor in the late 60s, when they took the federal urban renewal money to tear up the whole downtown during the 70s!
  8:33pm
G:

If I am remembering right, Mr FW maybe be from the Detroit area in some way...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm
Fine Wine:

Yes, city of!

Fine Wine:

Did you see the CKLW documentary??
  8:39pm
DP:

The Big 8!
  8:40pm
G:

No reason Mr FW would know Fenton, though it was on the train line and had a hotel, in like 1880. It's between Ann Arbor and Flint, right off US 23...

The BIG 8! (DP beat me to it). And Honey Radio on your car with AM radio, ABX, DET back in the day (Spangler, Gallert, Jacques, Coxx...). I'm from the City Of, too.
  8:48pm
G:

Thanks for the heads-up on the documentary, Mr FW -- Radio Revolution: The Rise and Fall of the Big 8...

Cheapest copy I can spot fast is 70 bucks, but I have it on my to-get list now, and will look around for a more reasonable price!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:48pm
Fine Wine:

DP and I are CKLW listeners from way back. And one of us used to answer the phone by saying "WDRQ's a ball."
  8:51pm
DP:

Ouch. That's the truth! And our dear departed friend DK was the WABX Pup mascot in the late 70s.
  8:55pm
DP:

G: I can send you a copy. Get your email to Mr. FW. and perhaps he will forward.
  8:56pm
DP:

BTW - Excellent set tonight!!

G:

After my dad got transferred from Michigan to London, I used to follow the US charts in the British music trade papers, and special order all the US chart hits that didn't get played or make the charts over there -- 49p a record (about $1.25 in early 1970s money)
  5:06pm
Michael McNamara:

Hey G and DP - not sure why "cheapest copy of the CKLW documentary you can find is 70 bucks." It's 30 bucks plus shipping on the official website - radiorevolutiondvd dot com. As the deeply in debt producer I'd appreciate it if you didn't make and share copies of it. We had to pay license fees for 28 songs! Thanks! The biiig 8!
