Found your vowel, so the "yo" actually counts! Charlie, if the powers-that-be would let me retroactively adopt you for a December $365 pledge, I'd do so. Someone, for the love of Godot, please adopt this man!

Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 12:55pm Doug S.:

Broadcasting on GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO is a more intimate affair. It's like performing in a small club, where you can see the faces of the crowd illuminated in the candles on their tables. By comparison, broadcasting on terrestrial radio is like rocking a stadium filled with a far-off audience members that look like little ants scurrying about. (Not that there's anything wrong with ants.)

Since we are a smaller, more interactive crowd, in this crazy streamventure together, we need to pull together during times of need like this.

Stream has been uninterrupted here in Pittsburgh.
Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 12:57pm Doug S.:

Charlie is now appearing on the WFMU tumblr page: bit.ly...
  Thu. 2/23/12 12:59pm kat330:

@Doug S: Weird, all the photos suddenly sprang up on my playlist screen (saw "Baby," first), thus the "Cute!" note, and almost immediately after I sent that the stream stopped (iTunes). Went to see if FMU was down (was not), and when I clicked back here, Charlie was speaking. All's well that streams well.
  Thu. 2/23/12 1:00pm lewis:

hear hear Charlie - good freeform radio (or perhaps even bad freeform radio) is a tremendous creative form. The DJs of FMU have inspired me and kept me company in the face of the blank page for many a year now!
Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 1:01pm Doug S.:

@kat330
Thanks for riding the rapids with us. Next time, we'll remember to bring paddles!
  Thu. 2/23/12 1:03pm kat330:

@Doug S: Yes, especially since I'm downriver from you here in the Louisville area.
  Thu. 2/23/12 1:05pm tr:sh:

There are calm pockets found behind eddies. You can do a ski-turn to swoosh into them for a breather.

er.
Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 1:10pm Doug S.:

"Mirza Ki Dhun" was last played on WFMU January 22, 2011, by Bill Mac on his show Zzzzzzero Hour.
  Thu. 2/23/12 1:12pm Vicki:

Wow, I'm listening to you on the bus now!
Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 1:12pm Doug S.:

If you refresh your browsers, you'll see that Charlie is only 44% away from meeting his goal for this program. Please make a pledge and inch that pledge thermometer to the right. (I hear the dog's tail wags when you reach your goal!)

Wag that goal!
Avatar    Thu. 2/23/12 1:12pm charlie:

How you all doing in here? Can I get you some tea, something stronger? Oh, just help yourself!
  Thu. 2/23/12 1:14pm Listener 26705:

Scotch with my T. Jones please
  Thu. 2/23/12 1:14pm lewis:

for example - from The Bugs to Tom Jones. Those jumps only come with practice and thought (or inspiration at least)!
Thu. 2/23/12 1:16pm listener james from westwood:

seconding lewis's 1 pm statement. fmu has been a faithful companion for my writing, editing, and other keyboard activities for decades. always keeps the brain dancing even when the fingers aren't.
Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 1:16pm Doug S.:

I played Tom Jones singing "My Yiddishe Mama" on my Hanukkah special last year!
Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 1:17pm Doug S.:

Thank you LEWIS and thank you everyone who's pledged so far. We are now only 41% away from hitting the goal!
Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 1:18pm Jeff G:

Hey, Charlie/Chrlie/Chaz and Dug/Doug/Dog: just sending some intra-stream good vibez your way, from the D:O Crew.
Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 1:19pm Jeff G:

Can't spell COMMUNITY without U and I. Totally just came up with that.
  Thu. 2/23/12 1:19pm kat330:

Well, I notice a listener "26705" -- this why it's your fave number, Doug?
Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 1:21pm Doug S.:

D:O inna howwwwse! Destination Out (destination-out.com) does a fantastic show here on the stream, Mondays 12-3pm.

@kat330
Well, 330 is a pretty damn swell #, too.
Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 1:22pm Doug S.:

@Jeff G
I C what U mean.
Avatar    Thu. 2/23/12 1:23pm charlie:

I like that one, Jeff!
Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 1:24pm Doug S.:

Hey GTDR, are we the 59%?? Hell no! 99% or bust. Make that pledge!
Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 1:25pm Doug S.:

We are sitting at $596.31
  Thu. 2/23/12 1:27pm kat330:

Aw, Doug, so kind. For one brief shining December moment, so was 122038, heh!
  Thu. 2/23/12 1:30pm glenn:

i though charlie had morphed into clay for a minute there.
Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 1:31pm Doug S.:

Remember GTDR community, pledge over your head, not with it. If you've already pledged. Add-on to your existing pledge amount. It is your TOTAL pledge amount that gets you to various premium levels. If you already pledged $30 elsewhere, pledge $45 now and you can get Charlie's (or any DJ's premium). Add on! Add on! (Or better yet, multiply!)
  Thu. 2/23/12 1:32pm Ike:

Yeah, remember, you can pledge now and pay later!
Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 1:33pm Doug S.:

We are up to 61%! One Mouse of Today pledge in full ($365 or more) will get us to 99%.

GOOD POINT IKE. A pledge now is just a commitment to pay later, when you can.
Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 1:36pm Doug S.:

Pledge now, pay later, play always.
  Thu. 2/23/12 1:39pm Ike:

Well, when pledging online, you *can* pay now if you want. But you can also choose "bill me later." And I hear that FMU can now bill you via e-mail now, not just snail mail, saving some postage costs.
  Thu. 2/23/12 1:40pm lewis:

Soundtracks!! another great reason to pledge. Morricone, Barry, Williams, Badalamenti You know their hits, but fmu DJs call them to your attention by playing the b-sides if you will.
Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 1:41pm Doug S.:

GOOD POINT IKE. Now you can request that WFMU send you a pledge notice via email. So we save trees as well as postage! Pledge to support the ever innovating WFMU!
Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 1:41pm Doug S.:

@Lewis
That is b-sides the point.
  Thu. 2/23/12 1:42pm lewis:

can i just say "ouch!"
Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 1:45pm Jeff G:

We played "Eleanor Rigby" on Dest OUT on Monday, too! Mal Waldron version. Where do all (the covers) come from?

  Thu. 2/23/12 1:50pm Covers:

Well, when a daddy cover and a mommy cover really love each other, things happen.
Thu. 2/23/12 1:50pm listener james from westwood:

holy crap, this is on the premium?! it just gets better & better.
Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 1:52pm Doug S.:

Avatar Thu. 2/23/12 1:54pm Doug S.:

67 rhymes with heaven, and your pledges thus far (you know who you are) have been heavenly. What rhymes with 100 I wonder?

  Thu. 2/23/12 1:58pm tr:sh:
