Listener comments!

  Mon. 2/20/12 2:16pm Tony Coulter:

Hullo dere. Tony Coulter here, ready to do my bit for station and stream. Pledges to this show will both help support the station and validate the programming of Give the Drummer Radio and yours truly. I've cooked up a special premium, available for a pledge of $75, and even put myself up for adoption, for a mere $365. (Don't worry, I've had all my shots and my teeth were recently cleaned.)
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 11:03am tonyc:

Here's a simplified rundown of the swag you get for pledging:
$15 - bumper sticker or miracle soap
$50 - the above, plus the new t-shirt
$75 - the above, plus 1 marathon premium
$180 - 3 DJ premium, the t-shirt, a tote bag, a.o.
$365 - 7 DJ premiums, tote bag, 1 item from the warehouse, a.o.
$500 - 12 DJ premiums, plus everything mentioned above, a.o.
Tue. 2/21/12 11:51am listener james from westwood:

we are supporting three institutions today: wfmu, the drummer stream, and the mighty tony coulter. where else can a buck go that far?
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 11:57am Dervish:

Are you saying Tony should be institutionalized?
  Tue. 2/21/12 11:58am glenn:

if tony will change his name to ann, i'll pledge big bucks.
  Tue. 2/21/12 12:00pm Jeff G:

If Ann changes her name to Tony, I'm all in.
  Tue. 2/21/12 12:01pm glenn:

hell, i'll even donate more spit and paperclips. (good name for a d.j. premium, in my humble opinion)
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 12:03pm tonyc:

Hello, everybody!! Thanks for showing up!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 12:04pm Doug S.:

Wait a minute? Are you *that* Glenn? Aw what the hell, put down your blackboard and make a pledge. It's the patriotic thing to do.
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 12:04pm tonyc:

I'd love to be able to change my name to Anne!

Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 12:09pm tonyc:

This Ron Crosby track is from my premium -- which is yours for a pledge of $75. Please consider pledging today -- would love to put in a good showing!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 12:18pm tonyc:

How about some pledge action, peeps! Really need for some pledge love to come my way....
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 12:23pm tonyc:

Your pledge -- of any amount -- will help show that Give the Drummer Radio can pull its weight. If you enjoy the stream, please do pledge!!! Thankee!!!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 12:25pm Doug S.:

Give the Drummer Radio is just an 18-month-old baby and needs to thrive. Please pledge some num-nums. Make airplane zooming sounds while you click the pledge box!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 12:26pm tonyc:

She's from New Jersey -- she wants to be an actress ... and she wants to pledge.
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 12:30pm tonyc:

Pledge-o, pledge-o, pledge-o -- pretty please-ums?
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 12:30pm Doug S.:

After spending 19 brilliant years on the air at WFMU, Tony moved to the left coast and lost his radio show. Through the miracle of (Al Gore's) Internet and WFMU's boundless creativity, Tony is back on the air, everywhere, making beautiful radio here on the stream. A pledge of support for Tony, is a pledge of support for the stream. A pledge for the stream supports WFMU which makes it all happen. Please make it happen and make a pledge!
Tue. 2/21/12 12:31pm Brian en Angleterre:

She bought a stone for Bessie Smith, she bought Bessie Smith a stone.
Go one better and keep everything clean by pledging. This is not a product placement.

Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 12:34pm tonyc:

My marathon premium this year is a collection of my favorite tracks from radio station local-talent compilation LPs. There's lot of great and rare stuff on there -- and it's yours for a pledge of $75.
Tue. 2/21/12 12:36pm listener james from westwood:

i just pledged, but i accidentally put a ! in my email address; it might not get recognized if it bounced....
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 12:38pm Doug S.:

BIG THANKS ALERT...BIG THANKS ALERT
Thank you to Listener James From Westwood, who is adding on to his already pledge Mouse of Today pledge to some love for Tony.

THANK YOU LISTENER JAMES FROM WESTWOOD!

Loving this stuff, Tony!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 12:43pm tonyc:

Now if I could only get everyone in the world to pledge one measly dollar, I'd raise ... what? ... 500 billion dollars! We can do it! Yes we can....
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 12:43pm Doug S.:

BIG THANKS ALERT...BIG THANKS ALERT
Listener Mark in Canal Winchester, Ohio, has pledged to Tony. Mark will be spending much of 2012 enjoying Tony's magnificent marathon premium. Have a look at Tony's premium here:

Illustrious radio host DAN BODAH has pledged a premium-sized pledge, adding: "I'm so glad Tony is still making great radio via the awesome Give the Drummer Radio stream!"

Dan DJ'd brilliantly last night as WFMU's Web empire was crumbling around him. THANK YOU DAN BODAH!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 12:49pm Doug S.:

Ricardo, I have that Hippie in a Blunder comp, too!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 12:49pm tonyc:

From the Vinyl Wastelands series. Vol. 4, I believe.
I need to go get the one that's all ab out car crash ballads
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 12:52pm tonyc:

There's been a small flurry of pledges, for which I am mega grateful -- but don't let the flurry die. Long live the flurry! Viva FMU and the stream!!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 12:54pm tonyc:

Danny Kalb of the Blues Project was pretty much a permanent fixture at my local coffee shop back when I lived in Park Slope. I can still see him in my mind's eye.
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 12:56pm tonyc:

Weirdly, he looked pretty much the same as he did 40 years earlier.
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 12:57pm tonyc:

Maybe that last remark will get a pledge from Danny Kalb! But if not him, why not you?
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 1:03pm tonyc:

Hey, if this marathon goes well, I may even be able to upgrade my equipment situation over here. I'm still basically doing caveman radio -- would love to push onwards and upwards. Please pledge to support the stream and this show!!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 1:05pm Doug S.:

To ADOPT Tony, one must make a Mouse Pledge in full ($365) and the pledge must be paid by March 4 at midnight. To see Tony's adoption page, go here: bit.ly...

In order for your adoption pledge to be credited to Tony's show, pledge using the pledge box on this page, the send an email, staking your claim to Tony here:
www.wfmu.org...
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 1:06pm tonyc:

Pledge for the funky Jesus stuff! Or to stop the funky Jesus stuff. Plus, if you adopt me, I'll play whatever you want.
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 1:09pm tonyc:

Can I pull you aside and talk to you in confidence: This show needs a LOT more pledges coming in. Please, please -- pledge for station and stream!!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 1:11pm tonyc:

As Doug said, pledging is easy via the pledge box at the top of this playlist page. And your pledges can be paid off over a long period of time.
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 1:12pm Doug S.:

There are more new programs in the works for Give the Drummer Radio! You contributions make it possible for WFMU to spend its precious resources on crazy, wonderful experiments like this webstream. Support crazy wonderful creativity and support Tony on Give the Drummer Radio.
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 1:18pm tonyc:

Come on, people -- shake some pledge action! We need much more pledge help and listener love around here....
  Tue. 2/21/12 1:21pm FYI:

when you hit the pledge button for Tony's show on the homepage it's crediting Ken's show
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 1:23pm tonyc:

FYI: Ack! Doug: Know anything about that?
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 1:26pm Doug S.:

All fixed. The two letter code was wrong. Must've gone to some default (oh that evil Ken).

If anyone has pledged to Tony, but haven't been thanked here, leave a comment and let us know.
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 1:29pm tonyc:

Yes, please do report in if you pledged to the show but weren't thanked. And everyone else: now is a better time than ever to pledge!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 1:41pm tonyc:

We're now at the halfway point of this marathon shift. Really could use a LOT more pledges, people!! Please consider pledging -- any amount helps!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 1:45pm Doug S.:

Even just one Mouse of Today pledge in full would help us to the goal. When you pledge $180 or more, you can pay your pledge in monthly installments. Won't someone, one person, step up and boldly GO THERE! Show Tony you appreciate his fine ear, kind voice and killer music.
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 1:49pm tonyc:

It noh funny -- but it would be if you would pledge!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 1:55pm tonyc:

Come to me ... pledges. Your virtue I will defend....
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 1:57pm tonyc:

Less than an hour to go and we're only at 28%. Please send some pledges my way!!!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 1:58pm tonyc:

Er -- I meant slightly more than an hour....
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 2:04pm Doug S.:

Do not wait to pledge! Make a commitment to contribute now. You do NOT HAVE TO PAY your pledge now. Just pledge your support now and pay it when you can.

If just ONE LISTENER does the heroic deed and pledges a full dollar-a-day (Mouse of Today) pledge right now, we will hit our goal for the show. Be our hero (heroes)!!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 2:10pm tonyc:

Come on, girl/guy, blow my mind with a double shot of pledge love!!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 2:14pm tonyc:

And people of the future -- those of you listening to the archive of this show -- I can really use your pledges too. The present ain't looking too good.
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 2:18pm tonyc:

I'll take pity pledges at this point. I'll even take putty pledges. C'mon people, help support the stream and station! Any amount would be great!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 2:28pm tonyc:

Should also add that I appreciate the usual playlist/comments presence during regular shows. Where are you guys? Are you here today?
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 2:29pm Doug S.:

BIG THANKS ALERT...BIG THANKS ALERT
Mighty Listener Van from DC/Dallas has dropped by with a super-duper pledge. Thanks for all the support LISTENER VAN!!!

Remember, we are just one Mouse Pledge ($365) away from our goal!!
Tue. 2/21/12 2:29pm Van in DC:

Okay, one pity pledge it is. Just dropped in...
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 2:30pm tonyc:

Thanks, Van the Man!! Let Van be an example to you all....
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 2:34pm tonyc:

As you've probably noticed, I'm not able to offer up prizes today. But there's still plenty of SWAG available -- stuff you get automatically when you pledge. And my premium will be yours for a pledge of $75. Pledge-o, pledge-o, pledge-o!!!!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 2:36pm tonyc:

Less than half an hour left -- I can really use some pledges at this point! (Not just me, of course, but Give the Drummer Radio and the stream.) Please help with a pledge of any size!
Tue. 2/21/12 2:36pm Van in DC:

I still can't figure out how all the pledging works. In Oct., I paid immediately every pledge and always got a different pledge number, so I never got anything more than a t-shirt. This time...is my "pledge number" my listener number...? Do I use that same number if I make another pledge on, say, Doug's show later? And it all adds up...?
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 2:41pm Doug S.:

I'm really not sure how to answer you Van, other than saying THANK YOU. If you email Joe McGasko at the station, he handles all listener/pledger questions and fulfillment. He's the most friendliest guy in the world, too.
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 2:42pm tonyc:

We're almost out of time here, folks -- please help me to do what I can to raise shekels for stream and station. PLEDGE!!!
Tue. 2/21/12 2:46pm Van in DC:

Okay, thanks Doug
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 2:49pm Doug S.:

Please dear listeners, slip a pledge or two under the wire. We really need your help. Pay your respects to TONY COULTER / GIVE THE DRUMMER RADIO / WFMU! Do it now, before the show ends.
Tue. 2/21/12 2:49pm listener james from westwood:

thanks tony and doug for the show and stream, and of course all pledgers.
still time between now & 3 or today and next tuesday to rope some friends in who like tony's kind of tunes. don't forget your social networks, too, in case you've got online fmu friends who may have overlooked the pre-mara media blitz. (it was cloudy when ken flew the blimp over nyc.)
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 2:50pm tonyc:

I am indeed saying a little prayer -- for a last minute flurry of pledges! Can I get a miracle, anyone?
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 2:53pm Doug S.:

BIG MERCI ALERT...BIG MERCI ALERT!
Listener Yvan from Le Palais, France, has dropped a three-premium size pledge. MERCI YVAN!!!!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 2:54pm tonyc:

PLEASE pledge in these last few minutes (I'll be ending a few minutes early today, so there's really very little time to slip a pledge in). I'll be back next week -- hope to see you then. Thanks for listening!! And, of course, huge thanks to those of you who pledged. Give me more people to thank!
Tue. 2/21/12 2:54pm Van in DC:

Okay by gummy, I sent a flurry of ?'s Joe's way :)
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 2:54pm Doug S.:

WE ARE ONLY $165 AWAY FROM OUR GOAL!!!!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 2:54pm tonyc:

Thanks for the pledge that just came in!!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 2:55pm tonyc:

Show ends early, in 2 minutes -- still time to pledge!!!
  Tue. 2/21/12 2:56pm Yvan:

Welcome! I love Tony's show!
Tue. 2/21/12 2:56pm listener james from westwood:

thanks for the euros! fmu needs them way more than greece does!
Avatar Tue. 2/21/12 2:56pm tonyc:

See you next week, everybody. Thanks for the pledges!!
