Ahoy! Late start -- hit a few sandbars en route to radio harbor. Welcome all!
Mon. 2/13/12 12:27pm listener james from westwood:

glad to see the pledge boxes up. just used it to send mine in. figured this was a fine occasion to do so. told the gang in the pledge comments that the streams have revolutionized the way i listen to fmu. so, thanks, you guys!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 2/13/12 12:28pm Jeff G:

Wow, listener James! Thank you so much!
Mon. 2/13/12 12:32pm listener james from westwood:

could've broken it out among all the mighty stream team members, but honestly i just wanted to get some cash to the station asap! many kudos to the drummer lineup and tech team and to the station as a whole. can't imagine life w.o it.
  Mon. 2/13/12 12:39pm jk:

afternoon everyone, thanks Jeff for these excellent sounds on a monday.
  Mon. 2/13/12 12:40pm Doug S.:

Same goes for you, Listener James FW!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 2/13/12 12:42pm Jeff G:

Thanks, jk. Hope that's not short for "just kidding."
  Mon. 2/13/12 12:42pm Doug S.:

Abdul Wadud was a few years ahead of me at Oberlin. When I got there, there was still a box filled with copies of "By Myself" in a bin at the Co-Op Bookstore. Happily availed myself of one. Should have grabbed twenty.
Mon. 2/13/12 12:43pm Richard from Venezuela:

Greetings Jeffs and all the listeners.
  Mon. 2/13/12 12:43pm jk:

sometimes it might be but not in this case. jk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 2/13/12 12:45pm Jeff G:

Hola, Richard! Welcome aboard!
  Mon. 2/13/12 12:45pm jk:

I mean I'm not kidding, though I did invent that thing of putting your initials after a joke.
Mon. 2/13/12 12:59pm Dan in Seattle:

This Hemphill record has got to be one of my top ten all time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 2/13/12 1:04pm Jeff G:

Dan: agreed. Did you pick up the reissued Dogon A.D.?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 2/13/12 1:06pm Jeff G:

My stream is choppy today. Anyone else having similar trouble? Might just be my local connection...
Mon. 2/13/12 1:08pm Richard from Venezuela:

My stream works fine.
  Mon. 2/13/12 1:08pm Doug S.:

Stream is smooth a silk, here in P-Burgh.
Mon. 2/13/12 1:09pm Alf from Upstate:

Everything's up to date in Kansas City (upstate)!
  Mon. 2/13/12 1:09pm Martha:

No probs here.
Mon. 2/13/12 1:11pm Dan in Seattle:

Nope, I have the orig. Mbari vinyl and a Freedom reissue.
Mon. 2/13/12 1:12pm listener james from westwood:

stream is working smoothly on this side.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 2/13/12 1:12pm Jeff G:

Glad to hear all is smooth elsewhere. Me, I need Bufferin for ma buffering.

@Dan: whoa.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 2/13/12 1:15pm Jeff G:

@Doug, re that Wadud/Oberlin comment: your run-ins and near misses with the great and near-great seem legion. I would believe any such anecdote from you, like, say, once you and Richard Nixon both grabbed coffee at the same Dunkin Donuts in Fresno, 1978.
  Mon. 2/13/12 1:18pm Doug S.:

And that's why I will not walk into a Dunkin Donuts to this day. And it was '77.
Mon. 2/13/12 1:19pm Richard from Venezuela:

Today is the first world's radio day. Congratulations Jeffs, Doug and all wfmu's crew for all the amazing job.
Mon. 2/13/12 1:23pm Richard from Venezuela:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 2/13/12 1:26pm Jeff G:

Ah! Happy World Radio Day, everyone! To celebrate, we made the attached radio program. Also, I am wearing the traditional headdress.
  Mon. 2/13/12 1:35pm Hugo:

May we expect Ernst Rejseger?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 2/13/12 1:38pm Jeff G:

Sorry, Hugo, no! Ran out of room...Tristan Honsinger is up soon, though, if that helps any...?
  Mon. 2/13/12 1:43pm Doug S.:

You say Reijseger, I say Honsiger, let's call the whole thing off...
  Mon. 2/13/12 1:48pm Hugo:

Some evocative cello playing on this one, too ...

Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 2/13/12 1:48pm Jeff G:

No Rejseger = serious oversight. Gotta get to some Clusone 3 in weeks to come, I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 2/13/12 1:50pm Jeff G:

Hugo, you're killing me. Love that first cut on the Tyler record. Totally forgot it's cello on there.
  Mon. 2/13/12 1:51pm Doug S.:

Hugo, the DJ slayer.
  Mon. 2/13/12 1:55pm earwax:

Damn, I keep getting interrupted and can't listen today. Thank goodness for archives.
  Mon. 2/13/12 2:05pm Hugo:

Yeah, totally agree about the first cut on the Tyler record. Probably my fave Tyler record of all.
  Mon. 2/13/12 2:08pm Dervish:

This is a terrific piece. Never heard it before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 2/13/12 2:18pm Jeff G:

Glad you like, Dervish. Just came out last year, but I think it was recorded several years before that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 2/13/12 2:38pm Doug S.:

I just received word from Tony Coulter. His show on the stream tomorrow (Noon to 3pm, EST) will be "100% jazz and improv." Don't miss it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 2/13/12 2:40pm Jeff G:

I know I won't (miss it)! But he better not bite D:O's steez. (Is that how the kids say it?)
  Mon. 2/13/12 2:47pm Jack:

How severely unconservative.
  Mon. 2/13/12 2:48pm Artie:

Loving these Eyes!!
Mon. 2/13/12 2:59pm listener james from westwood:

thanks, gents, for the fine show! looking forward to tony's jazz/improv show and the new d:o on 2/20!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 2/13/12 3:00pm Jeff G:

Thanks again to YOU, listener james! Looking forward to seeing you soon.
