Avatar    Mon. 1/30/12 12:03pm Alf from Upstate:

Welcome back Destination Out!
Mon. 1/30/12 12:07pm Richard from Venezuela:

Hello Jeffs and the listeners.
  Mon. 1/30/12 12:10pm david:

I had my fill of Roscoe Mitchell yesterday but I never get enough bill dixon.
  Mon. 1/30/12 12:11pm earwax:

Howdy Jeffs et al.
Avatar    Mon. 1/30/12 12:13pm Jeff G:

HEYO! Welcome, one and all.
  Mon. 1/30/12 12:15pm Doug S.:

David, "had my fill of Roscoe Mitchell"? I'm sorry, I don't understand.
  Mon. 1/30/12 12:18pm jill:

hola dos jeffes!
  Mon. 1/30/12 12:20pm holland oats:

GtDS just gettin' better & better
  Mon. 1/30/12 12:21pm david:

WKCR did a "jazz profile" on him yesterday afternoon. tough to listen to all lumped together like that. seems like everytime i turned on the radio yesterday he was on. diggin' the bill dixon, though.
Avatar    Mon. 1/30/12 12:26pm Jeff G:

"everytime i turned on the radio yesterday [Roscoe Mitchell] was on."
David, you live in some other kind of alternate, magical universe.
  Mon. 1/30/12 12:27pm Doug S.:

David, I have to agree. I guess I'm glad WKCR does those ultra-marathon broadcasts dedicated to one artist—it bestow a kind of honor that I appreciate—but I've never really enjoyed listening to music that way.
Avatar    Mon. 1/30/12 12:29pm Jeff G:

Fair warning, all: Roscoe bookends today's show.
  Mon. 1/30/12 12:31pm Dervish:

That's no warning, that's a warming.
  Mon. 1/30/12 12:31pm holland oats:

'part ii' - this shoulda been how they communicated with the aliens in close encounters
Avatar    Mon. 1/30/12 12:33pm Jeff G:

With bad kerning, I think it often is a warming.
<proofreader "joke">
  Mon. 1/30/12 12:38pm Doug S.:

There's a kern of truth in that.
  Mon. 1/30/12 12:38pm david:

Jeff, WKCR is my alternate universe and WFMU is my primary one.
Avatar    Mon. 1/30/12 12:42pm Jeff G:

Well, that explains it, David.

Doug: you win.
  Mon. 1/30/12 12:47pm Doug S.:

No one can fling copyediting puns like an out-of-work copyeditor. It's the desperation.
  Mon. 1/30/12 12:48pm chaz:

Droppin' by, sayin' hi. Sounding good!
Avatar    Mon. 1/30/12 12:49pm Jeff G:

Thanks, chaz!
  Mon. 1/30/12 12:53pm Martha:

I see you playing a lot or more recent recordings. It's nice to hear. I get so buried in the older stuff that I sometimes forget to see what's new.
Avatar    Mon. 1/30/12 12:56pm Jeff G:

Thanks, Martha. Still sorting through the good stuff from last year here. I've actually felt sort of the opposite lately; like, when can I go back and listen to Lee Morgan again? (NOT AN IDLE MENTION.)
Avatar    Mon. 1/30/12 1:02pm Jeff G:

How many of you looked to see if the tea kettle was on the boil? I know I did.
  Mon. 1/30/12 1:06pm Doug S.:

God I love Lee Morgan. (Also works as: God, I love Lee Morgan.)
Mon. 1/30/12 1:07pm Dan in Seattle:

Can anyone think of a shorter song title?
Mon. 1/30/12 1:12pm Dan in Seattle:

Ah, its "One" and not "I." Much longer.
  Mon. 1/30/12 1:21pm bgporter:

Hey -- just got here. Can you restart at the top, plz? :)

Was kidding, but it's good to know that my tardiness has no penalties. Wish Visa had a similar attitude.
  Mon. 1/30/12 1:29pm lewis:

ahh --colin stetson again - very cool, gonna have to track this down...
Avatar    Mon. 1/30/12 1:47pm Jeff G:

I mean, c'mon.
Avatar    Mon. 1/30/12 1:50pm Jeff G:

Basically, every band should have two drummers.
Avatar    Mon. 1/30/12 1:50pm Jeff G:

And every radio station should GIVE THE DRUMMER SOME.

(See what I did there?)
  Mon. 1/30/12 1:51pm lewis:

kudos to Jeff G - and of course Drummer Some Radio!
  Mon. 1/30/12 1:55pm Doug S.:

Occupy drummers.
Avatar    Mon. 1/30/12 2:00pm Jeff G:

Thank you, lewis.
  Mon. 1/30/12 2:04pm earwax:

Can't go too far wrong with any Lee Morgan tune.
  Mon. 1/30/12 2:13pm Doug S.:

Everyone should get a chance to sing this at least once in their lives.
  Mon. 1/30/12 2:15pm Colonel O' Truth:

Space corn meets Mr. S Ree Jake. Hilarity ensues.
Mon. 1/30/12 2:44pm Dan in Seattle:

No matter how many times I see it, I think Garbarek is misspelled.
Avatar    Mon. 1/30/12 2:45pm Jeff G:

And no matter how many times I say it, I always mispronounce it.
  Mon. 1/30/12 2:46pm Colonel O' Truth:

Use mnemonic Fish Ursine Disgust - Gar Bear Ick.
  Mon. 1/30/12 2:48pm Doug S.:

Where is Listener Hugo (from Norway) when we need him? He is my go-to guy on all pronunciations in all languages.

Fer instance, he says Terje is pronounced TERR-yeh.
Avatar    Mon. 1/30/12 2:50pm Jeff G:

Sez yeh!
  Mon. 1/30/12 2:53pm bgporter:

I assume that everyone has seen this old footage of Terje playing with The Vanguards:

See y'all in a couple.
  Mon. 1/30/12 3:01pm david:
