You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

  Mon. 1/23/12 9:21pm Destroit:

Never heard of it Will, but this is freaking great. I know now!
Avatar Mon. 1/23/12 9:24pm Dan B:

Actually Will, had never heard of them until stumbling across that tune on a Kinks tribute comp. Thanks for the info on their LP. Marmalade in the house! Now we can really party like it's 2013!
  Mon. 1/23/12 9:26pm T-Zero:

I'm not sure, but I seem to recall Invisible Peple

  Mon. 1/23/12 10:51pm Ike:

This New Order is damn good.
  Mon. 1/23/12 10:53pm Marmalade kitty:

sounded like early Warsaw..!
  Mon. 1/23/12 10:54pm T-Zero:

@Dan B: Not at all, just listening while otherwise working on a project.

But who are the Jigs & the Pigs? The band name alone is worth getting attention.
Avatar Mon. 1/23/12 10:56pm Dan B:

@Ike / MK, yeah, nice to hear New Order doing that kind of thing a la the old old recording made with Ian. @T-Zero, isn't that quite the name? I know nothing about them except that I found that excellent tune on a comp buried in our vinyl stacks.
Avatar Mon. 1/23/12 10:58pm Dan B:

OK, so Jigs & the Pigs are a local NJ band from New Brunswick area. Still active locally. There's a bunch of videos on youtube and some recent news here: bit.ly...
  Mon. 1/23/12 10:59pm T-Zero:

Thanks! All I knew of Jigs & Pigs was that it was a type of fishing lure... I hate fishing, but loved the water... Things one learns from grandfathers who like to fish...
  Mon. 1/23/12 11:10pm Marmalade kitty:

fish like music?
  Mon. 1/23/12 11:11pm T-Zero:

Mon. 1/23/12 11:11pm Charlie the Tuna:

  Mon. 1/23/12 11:12pm T-Zero:

lol... Thanks! Charlie. I couldn't come up a witty retort...
  Mon. 1/23/12 11:13pm 12539:

Tilde or accent?

Wikipedia says: "A dragée (play /dræˈʒeɪ/ dra-zhay; from Greek tragêmata "sweets, treats" through French) is a form of confectionery that can be used for decorative or symbolic purposes in addition to consumption."
  Mon. 1/23/12 11:21pm G:

Wow, that's an ancient word. I don't know much modern Greek, but "tragema" is ancient Greek for any fun desserty or junk type food such as dried fruit or other sweet. "Tragemata" is the plural.
  Mon. 1/23/12 11:23pm G:

As in: You don't need it, but you want it.
Avatar Mon. 1/23/12 11:24pm Dan B:

Of course fish like music! How do you think hicks with radios blaring in their boats catch them? I should know, I've been one. @12539, it's a tilde on the record label, but maybe they were just being all clever or something. Or maybe the word's come down into some modern relative of ancient Greek with a tilde? I AM IMPELLED TO KNOW FOR SURE! I can let no inexplicable tilde rest without exploring it's causes and effects!!! Arrrgh!
Avatar Mon. 1/23/12 11:25pm Dan B:

@G, and so we come full circle at last.
  Mon. 1/23/12 11:25pm 12539:

Classic dragees are sugarcoated almonds. It also says: "A fourth form of contemporary dragée might be almond M&M's...However, historically correct or not, calling M&M's dragées may be a little old-fashioned in attitude or style."
  Mon. 1/23/12 11:28pm Tom Miller:

Kattajaq - the Inuit throat game!

So now we know why ancient Greece fell: M&Ms

was it a pink floyd gig or a motorhead gig? that was so loud it killed a lake full of fish near the concert,?
Avatar Mon. 1/23/12 11:35pm Dan B:

@Tom, awesome -- sounds like fun! We will try to be there. BTW, are you still in the US now? Time for another visit to the side of the tracks where the hobos and gangsters leave their marks -- Hazel is really into Thea and wants to see her again soon!
Avatar Mon. 1/23/12 11:37pm Dan B:

@mordred - awesome. I'll never forget the several nights one August in the early 90s when I watched vast sheets of green and red aurora rippling over the Northern NY state skies.
  Mon. 1/23/12 11:41pm mordred:

Wonder what it means astrologically Quick put out the Voodoo M &Ms for the Delphic Oracle shes all atwitter
  Mon. 1/23/12 11:42pm Marmalade kitty:

Playing pink floyd to fish falls under the terms of "illegal fishing" techniques alongside drift nets
  Mon. 1/23/12 11:45pm Tom Miller:

@Dan, I leave Feb 2 for a month in Berlin. Bring the kids over!
Avatar Mon. 1/23/12 11:47pm Dan B:

@Tom, will try to do so this week. @MK, ask and you shall receive. Baskets of loaves and fishes for all!
  Mon. 1/23/12 11:48pm fish:

whoa, someone spiked the lake with acid.
  Mon. 1/23/12 11:48pm Tom Miller:

Young Thea left a trail of Froot Loops scattered across the ruins of Ephesus. Future archaeologists may dig them up and be forced to radically revise their theories of ancient Greek tragemata.
  Mon. 1/23/12 11:50pm Marmalade kitty:

Keith moon also entertained goldfish:

I liked that True Wheel song and wouldn't mind hearing it again next week.
  Tue. 1/24/12 12:02am Tom Miller:

Uh, "Detroit de Bering" is French for "Bering Strait"
