@Jay: I only have a view of a "lovely" parking lot and the backs of shops :(
  4:18am
Bill Mac:

That's all I can see from here.... post office and the parking lot.... It's only interesting when I see someone standing in the street looking in here at 4 in the morning.
  4:21am
T-Zero:

In the summer, one of the restaurants grows their own herbs and tomatoes in an improvised urban garden... that at least ads some green. But that's gone now.

I liked that Charles Bradley funk/soul 60s revival style
  4:24am
T-Zero:

Where's Bradley hail from?
  4:26am
Bill Mac:

We only have a 3 song promo from Daptone, which makes me think that he's an artist present on their label
  4:27am
Jay/ London:

hey bill spooky people looked in at you
  4:27am
Brian in UK:

Jay, is The Artist worth viewing?
  4:27am
T-Zero:

Yeah, he's with Daptone. But I was wondering if he was from the US South (ie New Orleans) or somewhere else...
  4:28am
Looms:

@Jay: how was the movie last monday?
  4:28am
Looms:

  4:37am
Jay/ London:

no Looms i will check it out
  4:37am
Bill Mac:

Man, we've been sooooo far behind with the movie thing... haven't been to one in what seems like years
  4:40am
Jay/ London:

made in 1924 Looms !! well make the next film you see The Artist Bill
  4:44am
Brian in UK:

Thanks Jay, it was only on at one screen last week.

You can understand why procrastination is such a long word.
Bill, Nick Saloman who is The Bevis Frond was involved with The Ptolemaic Terrascope at one time.
  4:44am
T-Zero:

Looms, did you like The Great White for the film or because of the Simon Turner soundtrack?
  4:46am
Adam in Portland:

This is one of the ways I most love to tie up loose ends on a Friday night.
  4:46am
Jay/ London:

so are you going to see it Brian ?
  4:48am
Bill Mac:

Yo Adam... and this is actually my first false start of Saturday. I do this go home, take a nap and muddle through the day as best I can.... it works
  4:50am
Brian in UK:

Looms, this is a compliment, only the French would have the nerve to make a silent film that is not a parody but a heartfelt tribute to the genre.
Jay ofcourse, I was so peeved that I have to go into London to see it. Vue cinemas are shite. Not for the masses!!
Might go here when it is on, beautiful restored cinema.
http://www.therexberkhamsted.com/
  4:51am
Looms:

@TZ: you see through me, man! I'm a BIG fan of Simon Fisher Turner and the music is really great. I already had it on CD but the documentary is worth it, some amazing pictures. And it's quite interesting to see how a polar expedition was like back in those days, these guys were brave, no doubt.
  4:53am
Jay/ London:

yes Brian great film bad vue and as for all those adds i am going to the bfi today to get the great white silence
  4:55am
T-Zero:

@Looms, was he on the Infected album? (The the)
  4:59am
Bill Mac:

Sorry Brian, yes I was aware of that. He seemed to single-handedly reinvigorate psych music in the 90s.
  5:01am
Brian in UK:

Better clear my snotty head & walk el doggo, getting wistful looks!! Know what I'd prefer.

Bill, ever go to Terrorstock?
  5:02am
Looms:

@Brian: the movie is supposed to be a tribute indeed. I'll go see it.
@TZ: SFT played with The The for a couple of years but I confess I have nothing by The The; another band I've always forgotten to check out.
  5:04am
Looms:

Yep, Dave Cloud is a funny guy.
  5:04am
Adam in Portland:

Super show, Bill Mac! Thank you for helping me check out that reissued Chocolate Watchband. I have been meaning to hear the band.
  5:05am
T-Zero:

@Looms: I was simply curious. I only have two albums from The the. (Infected, which I like, and Hanky Panky, not so much) But I knew he wasn't on Hanky Panky.
  5:08am
Brian in UK:

Phil McMullen was the driving force behind the magazine Ptolemaic Terrascope. Very knowledgeable.
  5:09am
Bill Mac:

@Adam - Yeah me too. The reeased more than a couple albums, and I figured that the reissues would have been reissued unless they were interesting
  5:10am
Bill Mac:

@Brian - I really like what I saw of the online magazine, or at least the website
  5:15am
Adam in Portland:

@Bill Mac, yes, I'm a Chocolate Watchband convert.
  5:17am
Bill Mac:

Great Adam, looks like we're gonna hafta play a bit more of CWB here
  5:21am
Looms:

What's the best album to start with Thin Lizzy? (please forgive my question)
  5:21am
Adam in Portland:

Phil is fascinating!
  5:21am
Adam in Portland:

Jailbreak! :-)
  5:22am
Bill Mac:

This BBC CD is a revelation, at least the first one, listen to this!
  5:23am
Looms:

Thx, guys!
  5:24am
T-Zero:

I still think Thin Lizzy should be called Tin Lizzy
  5:25am
Adam in Portland:

@T-Zero, me too! ;-)
  5:26am
Bill Mac:

Hey Looms, don't mind me. I always thought I would like the earlier stuff before they got huge (and deservedly so). Great music for cruising around listening to the radio back in the day, as the kiddies say
  5:26am
Bill Mac:

Let it go, T!
  5:28am
Adam in Portland:

I'm just happy that Phil's mom is named Philomena.
  5:29am
Bill Mac:

You're not kidding either..... I just checked....
  5:33am
Jay/ London:

@ T-zero the model t ford was also called the tin Lizzy
  5:34am
T-Zero:

@jay: Right
  5:37am
Adam in Portland:

There is a very charming interview that can be found on YouTube featuring Phil being interviewed along with Philomena on a European chat show.
  5:37am
Bill Mac:

I'm not a big fan but I'd really like to check that out
  5:41am
T-Zero:

Just for the record... I wasn't mocking the Irish brogue... but because for years I sincerely thought that was what they were named...
  5:43am
Bill Mac:

I never doubted that for a second.... thought it was funny that you returned to last weeks thread...
  5:44am
Bill Mac:

I DO get offended when you express your dislike of free jazz however...
  5:45am
Bill Mac:

; )
  5:47am
T-Zero:

... and Zappa, don't forget Zappa
  5:48am
Bill Mac:

That's right, that was you! Hey man, I can understand that... all is forgiven.
  5:50am
Adam in Portland:

http://m.guardian.co.uk/music/2012/jan/04/thin-lizzy-lost-recordings?cat=music
  5:51am
Jay/ London:

thanks for that adam in Portland :)
  5:53am
Jay/ London:

@ adam it seems to be a app for a pad thing :(
  5:53am
Looms:

@TZ: did you say bad things about Captain Beefheart too? ;)
  5:55am
T-Zero:

@Looms: Heh, no. And I didn't actually say anything bad about free jazz or zappa for that matter...
  5:55am
Marmalade Kitty:

forget Zappa
  5:56am
Bill Mac:

Where did you come from, Madam?
  5:56am
T-Zero:

Morning, MK!
  5:57am
Adam in Portland:

@Jay, if you just type "Thin Lizzy" into Google's search field, lovers of the band are abuzz with the story.
  5:57am
Jay/ London:

@ Marmalade kitty WHY And a very good Morning to you :)
  5:57am
Adam in Portland:

Hello, MK!
  5:58am
Looms:
