You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

Mon. 12/5/11 9:14pm Richard from Venezuela:

Good evening. Astonishing start of the show.
  Mon. 12/5/11 9:15pm alicia renee:

hear here!
  Mon. 12/5/11 9:20pm Dan B:

Music to get lost in for sure.
  Mon. 12/5/11 9:45pm glenn:

hey don't forget nickelback.
  Mon. 12/5/11 9:50pm Dan B:

@glenn, yeah, can't forget the nickelback. oh wait, why didn't i see them anywhere on the playlists or charts I looked at today? are they old-fashioned now?
  Mon. 12/5/11 9:51pm glenn:

it's the backlash from that lions game where they played the halftime show.
Mon. 12/5/11 10:00pm The Capt. and Tenille:

  Mon. 12/5/11 10:00pm josh:

that Albert.. he's truly beyond human.. don't know if it's sub or supra but he's totally out there.. enjoying the show Dan.. :-)
  Mon. 12/5/11 10:03pm PB:

Not the kind of music I would expect to hear from a guy who appears to have a Finnish name.
  Mon. 12/5/11 10:04pm Felipe:

  Mon. 12/5/11 10:06pm alicia renee:

(re: same 3 artists)
noxious byproduct of media consolidation.
simple. streamlined. & sonically sad.
  Mon. 12/5/11 10:08pm glenn:

huh. and here i thought it was because 99.4 % of the people listening to music don't know jackshit about what's good and what's bad.
Mon. 12/5/11 10:08pm Dan from Toronto:

Dan, that set was (continues to be) amazing. For anyone else as spellbound as I was by the Yat Kha "Love Will Tear Us Apart" cover, it's freely downloadable at http://www.yat-kha.com/html/what/yat_kha_cd_recovers.php
  Mon. 12/5/11 10:11pm Dan B:

@AR, too true - I just can't believe people are so convinced that the market leads to innovation when the big commercial stations are playing 20 songs over and over again all day and night. @Dan, thanks for posting the Yat-Kha link! @PB, Pekko Kappi's music on that record is actually old traditional bardic Finnish stuff on an ancient Finnish harp that can be strummed, plucked or bowed.
Mon. 12/5/11 10:12pm Dan from Toronto:

Oh except it's 404'd. Too bad... so lovely...

Too bad
  Mon. 12/5/11 10:15pm glenn:

the finns probably originated somewhere in the ural mountains of asia, so that may have something to do with it.
  Mon. 12/5/11 10:16pm PB:

@Dan, yeah and 19 of those 20 songs are either by Dead Zeppelin or from Who's Next. Pathetic. Thanks for the explanation of the Pekko Kappi track. Very interesting, never would have guessed.
  Mon. 12/5/11 10:19pm PB:

Didn't the Holy Modal Rounders do a track on the Easy Rider soundtrack?
  Mon. 12/5/11 10:20pm Dan B:

@PB, yeah, "If You Want To Be A Bird"
Mon. 12/5/11 10:23pm Richard from Venezuela:

Appear on FMA's twitter, but i share the link here. Venezuelan electronic /Ethnosonic music pioneer Angel Rada, free and legal discography here:

Mon. 12/5/11 11:17pm The Count of Al Dente:

Jeez, a week has gone by?? It seems like yesterday, that deep voice. Glad to hear you're on the mend. Love the HMR's. At first I thought it was maybe The Fugs, before I looked at the player.
  Mon. 12/5/11 11:19pm Dan B:

@Count, thanks, yeah, lots of cross-over over the years between HMR and the Fugs, they really came out of the same East Village stewpot. @Blujacket, ah the west coast! Glad to have you along! @Damien, I sincerely apologize if I impugned your state of consciousness!
  Mon. 12/5/11 11:20pm Felipe:

still a great show! (thanks!)
  Mon. 12/5/11 11:42pm damien:

(snoring away, a la "Opus", the Penguin)
  Mon. 12/5/11 11:42pm Tom Miller:

Was that Nyckelharpe by Nickelback?
  Mon. 12/5/11 11:46pm G:

@Tom M.: Only Betsy Nickels would play *that*.
  Tue. 12/6/11 12:07am yorgos:
