artwork is a 16th century turkish tile from the newly opened arab lands wing at the Metropolitan museum, gorgeous show, see it if you can. brought tears to my eyes to imagine manycontemporaries in those lands hell bent on erasing each other from the planet.

His from my hometown of waterford city, ireland. i recognise his voice. i come from waterford city. i live in alexanderplatz berlin germany. i am a filmmaker and a maker of sounds. your playing of G.O.S is, though slightly tongue in cheek and rather kitschy, a nice gesture that G.O.S would appreciate.

There is a court order calling for the protesters to be allowed back into Zuccoti WITH their tents - hearing scheduled for 11 am. Hard to tell from the press coverage how good the chances are of a return to full occupation - could realistically be nil or maybe it's actually possible - not clear. Finally made it to that groovy E Village record shop you've long recommended - Tropicalia in Furs, 304 East 5th Street (they do have some great stuff). I could only stay for a couple of minutes but while in there I overhead a youngster from Minneapolis saying how she heard about it on FMU (I bet your show, Trouble). I think you and/or the station deserve a kickback! (Um, just kidding FCC...)

i live right by the mutter museum and there is a lot to do in the area! other things that are close: academy of the natural sciences, philadelphia museum of art, rodin museum, PAFA...

I was a youngster in Minneapolis back in the day and hung out for hours upon hours at a stellar shop called Oarfolkjokeopus. Wonder if it's still around... Twin Cities had some pretty great record shops.

Philadelphia's secret weapon (restaurant-wise): Indonesian food! We had an excellent meal at the lively Indonesia Restaurant, 1725 Snyder Ave. There are also Indonesian groceries in the same South Philly neighborhood with prepared street food and treats. Dave, it is! It is now called Treehouse, a play on the last name of its long time manager. It's still good.
Electric Fetus is still good, and we have a Shuga records now too. I haven't been to the 5th Element, but the Rhymesayers run it, so it's probably great.

rob I've never been to that restaurant! it sounds great. a few of my favorite places to eat are mccrossens tavern, pub and kitchen (both good for beers/excellent food), vietnam restaurant (in chinatown), tinto and zahav (for something a lil' fancier), dmitris (several locations, great greek/mediterranean)....i could go on :)

Even worse, one of the Shinders heirs got caught with drugs and guns and so now all the Shinders are gone. It's pretty awful.
On the bright side, First Avenue added a restaurant and it's surprisingly good!
