The lazy calm at the week's start. A few live performances included, but mainly music with an ear tilted toward string-driven things.

Greetings Irene from southern Arizona. Some unusual but welcome showers this mornings here in the high desert. Now the sun has returned. We are now only 2 hours behind Jersey City. AZ don't do that time change thing.

Mike East:
synchonicity: I was typing an order and wrote the words "Le Poisson Rouge" at the exact moment you said it, Irene. Enjoying the music!
|
Mon. 11/7/11 1:07pm
Mike East:
- erm - synchronicity | |

|
Mon. 11/7/11 1:26pm
Irene:
Not exactly Iron & Wine but maybe I'll play some, now that you mention it...

All good here, everything collapses like any other place in the world ;) at least we have Bonnie Prince as a soundtrack for that...

pgw in mntclr:
Iron & Wine > Iron Maiden & Wine?
|
Mon. 11/7/11 2:20pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:
I dunno...with enough wine, Iron Maiden could be a lot of fun!
|
Mon. 11/7/11 2:22pm
pgw in mntclr:
then perhaps Iron & Wine ≈ Iron Maiden & Wine

Andrew:
Since you commented. +10:1 is tinariwen written in the Tamazight abjad. Abjad means an alphabet without vowels. So + is t, 1 is n, 0 is r, and : is w. By a coincidence all the letters of their name look sort of like familiar symbols to us, but the 0 on my t-shirt with the camel on the guitar neck is very round, a little wider than it is tall.

Mon. 11/7/11 2:31pm
Irene:
Ah, thanks Andrew! I knew there was a good explanation. As usual, you listeners help me fill in the gaps.

Beirut - so happy to see they are enjoying success - still recall instantly liking the band upon hearing them for 1st time on Ben Walker's music show in Feb 2009 ("La Llorona" was the track)
