Listener comments!

  3:19pm
hubba:

Fabio! You the man!
  3:24pm
hubba:

Did Terry Riley sample Chet Baker, or is Chet Baker playing live while he is being procesed?

Take my comment off-air...
  3:25pm
Ike:

That last track (short one, ended at 3:22 or 23 -- RPM Orchestra I think?) had a backwardsy-sounding repeating scratchy noise as if it's out-of-phase. A lot of things played on FMU lately have exhibited that noise. Is one of the CD players or turntables fracked up?
  3:25pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

hey there, fellow weirdos!
  3:29pm
Can Dialectics Break Bricks?:

major update from OWS -- residents of Zuccotti Park planning massive coordinated resistance to mayor's "offer" to bring in city cleaning personnel, tomorrow at 6a (combined with a massive self-organized cleanup effort, already underway).
  3:32pm
Bill F.:

Fabio, what's that groovy background music you've been playing lately?
  3:32pm
Cecile:

FabiYO
  3:33pm
wi id ne il:

You rock. Fabio.
  3:36pm
Cecile:

Death of the Maiden?
  3:40pm
Cecile:

Riley probably bought Baker a bottle of wine or some weed. :/
  3:43pm
Looms:

...I'm late :(
  3:45pm
hubba:

Here we go.... WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
  3:53pm
BSI:

Please allow me to second that WEEEEEEEEEE.
Thank you very much.
  3:55pm
?:

@ Ike:
I didn't hear what you're referring to, and I haven't been listening regularly for some time, but the Windows stream now sounds way scratchier and more distorted than it used to, particularly the studio mic. Anyone else notice this?
  3:56pm
hubba:

It sounds good on my end... with my standard issue headphones, things sound muddy...
  3:58pm
andymorphic:

sounds good here
  4:01pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

Ike, yes, I noticed it since they upgraded the WIMP stream to a massive 24k that it is way hotter and that the studio mic sounds like it's hitting all the red lights available.
  4:02pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

(not pleasantly)
  4:04pm
hamburger:

ee gatz!
  4:05pm
BSI:

cheers & thanks Fabio...
  4:06pm
Ike:

I'm listening over the air at 91.1 today but I've heard the scratch on certain tracks online too. I never use the Windows stream.
  4:07pm
?:

aha, didn't realize there had been an "upgrade"; sadly, WIMP stream is the only means available at work . . .
  4:07pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

they need to upgrade to 128k on the WIMP for me too, SRSLY!
  4:11pm
Cecile:

VENUS was their hit.
Los Bravos were the ones who did Black is Black.
  4:12pm
Ike:

So you can't get the Orban AAC+ plug-in into your Windows Media Player so you can use the AAC+ stream? That stream sounds WAY better.

Hey it's BSI! Sounding good!
  4:12pm
Cecile:

Right on, BSI.
  4:12pm
Cheri Pi:

Local boy BSI!
  4:12pm
90% dc pat:

  4:14pm
Cecile:

Shocking Blue = Dutch band with a great gal singer
Los Bravos = Chicano garage band from LA
  4:15pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

damn, I missed me some BSI action. Work done got the best of me.
  4:18pm
exaudio:

Mint Royale must've sampled Shocking Blue's Acka Raga. It was in the scene in Vanilla Sky where Tom Cruise is running through an abandoned Times Square.

  4:22pm
Cheri Pi:

  4:24pm

  4:24pm
Marmalade Kitty:

  4:25pm
Julie:

  4:25pm
90% dc pat:

man, I can't even spell German properly...

BSI, you better be using that in your live sets!
  4:25pm
Cheri Pi:

You will release the Kreken at the setting of the sun. There, you will turn over Andromeda to the Kreken. This is the vengeance I seek for my son Calybos!
  4:27pm
Ike:

Hey @DCE you could try this:
http://tinyurl.com/orbanaac
Then click download. Not sure if'll work on a locked-down work 'puter though, but worth a try.
  4:28pm
hubba:

This is awesome! Phonophani is like Robert Wyatt on Ralph Records but a bit more Fonal friendly
  4:29pm
Cecile:

Hey, science says there may have actually been a Kraken.

  4:35pm
Carmichael:

God dammit all to hell and back again. I missed another *actual* BSI playback, and have to go to the *go-to* archives. Some day I'll hear your pre-recorded stuff played live.
  4:37pm
Marmalade Kitty:

  4:37pm
das:

I know this should sound creepy, but it's making me laugh. It's like being haunted by the three stooges.
  4:39pm
BSI:

great sparse piano in this.
speaking of which, Roedelius down here last night was brilliant.
  4:40pm
Cheri Pi:

Can you believe that Roedelius is playing in Cincinnati soon? I'll be to star-struck to approach him though...
  4:40pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Thats the sound effect they love SO much!!
  4:42pm
Cecile:

You should take Roedelius out to that fancy grilled cheese place, Cheri
  4:43pm
BSI:

@Cheri Pi: no need for star-struckedness; He's a great guy, top chap.... Definitely say howdy....
  4:44pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

oh yeah, he's playing in Oberlin (just west of CLE) next Wednesday. Wowza!

@ Ike, the download worked but not sure what to do after that...I know, I'm a help vampire...I'll putz.
  4:45pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

ah, no, I must be an admin to run the codec, yeah...
  4:47pm
hubba:

I remember appraoching Terry Riley, about 7 years ago ,after a free performance he played with his and an ensemble for an autograph... I got my buddies to go up with me, with program in hand, and he was a little taken back by the request. He was like, "well, okay," and then just stared at for a long time after he signed them. He said thanks and asked if we enjoyed the performance, and returned to gather ingup his belongings. I felt like such a child, but to me, since he is from Northern California, he is as much a hero as say Jimi Hendrix. I still have the program, and I cherish it.
  4:49pm
jelrod:

Listening in at the doctors office. Keep on, Fabio.
  4:49pm
Cheri Pi:

One of my gal-pals is opening for him so we're all pretty excited.
  4:50pm

  4:54pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:
