Fabio! You the man!
  Thu. 10/13/11 3:24pm hubba:

Did Terry Riley sample Chet Baker, or is Chet Baker playing live while he is being procesed?

Take my comment off-air...
  Thu. 10/13/11 3:25pm Ike:

That last track (short one, ended at 3:22 or 23 -- RPM Orchestra I think?) had a backwardsy-sounding repeating scratchy noise as if it's out-of-phase. A lot of things played on FMU lately have exhibited that noise. Is one of the CD players or turntables fracked up?
Thu. 10/13/11 3:25pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

hey there, fellow weirdos!
Thu. 10/13/11 3:29pm Can Dialectics Break Bricks?:

major update from OWS -- residents of Zuccotti Park planning massive coordinated resistance to mayor's "offer" to bring in city cleaning personnel, tomorrow at 6a (combined with a massive self-organized cleanup effort, already underway).
  Thu. 10/13/11 3:32pm Bill F.:

Fabio, what's that groovy background music you've been playing lately?
  Thu. 10/13/11 3:32pm Cecile:

FabiYO
Thu. 10/13/11 3:33pm wi id ne il:

You rock. Fabio.
  Thu. 10/13/11 3:36pm Cecile:

Death of the Maiden?
  Thu. 10/13/11 3:40pm Cecile:

Riley probably bought Baker a bottle of wine or some weed. :/
  Thu. 10/13/11 3:43pm Looms:

...I'm late :(
  Thu. 10/13/11 3:45pm hubba:

Here we go.... WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
  Thu. 10/13/11 3:53pm BSI:

Please allow me to second that WEEEEEEEEEE.
Thank you very much.
  Thu. 10/13/11 3:55pm ?:

@ Ike:
I didn't hear what you're referring to, and I haven't been listening regularly for some time, but the Windows stream now sounds way scratchier and more distorted than it used to, particularly the studio mic. Anyone else notice this?
  Thu. 10/13/11 3:56pm hubba:

It sounds good on my end... with my standard issue headphones, things sound muddy...
  Thu. 10/13/11 3:58pm andymorphic:

sounds good here
Thu. 10/13/11 4:01pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

Ike, yes, I noticed it since they upgraded the WIMP stream to a massive 24k that it is way hotter and that the studio mic sounds like it's hitting all the red lights available.
Thu. 10/13/11 4:02pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

(not pleasantly)
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:04pm hamburger:

ee gatz!
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:05pm BSI:

cheers & thanks Fabio...
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:06pm Ike:

I'm listening over the air at 91.1 today but I've heard the scratch on certain tracks online too. I never use the Windows stream.
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:07pm ?:

aha, didn't realize there had been an "upgrade"; sadly, WIMP stream is the only means available at work . . .
Thu. 10/13/11 4:07pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

they need to upgrade to 128k on the WIMP for me too, SRSLY!
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:11pm Cecile:

VENUS was their hit.
Los Bravos were the ones who did Black is Black.
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:12pm Ike:

So you can't get the Orban AAC+ plug-in into your Windows Media Player so you can use the AAC+ stream? That stream sounds WAY better.

Hey it's BSI! Sounding good!
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:12pm Cecile:

Right on, BSI.
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:12pm Cheri Pi:

Local boy BSI!

  Thu. 10/13/11 4:14pm Cecile:

Shocking Blue = Dutch band with a great gal singer
Los Bravos = Chicano garage band from LA
Thu. 10/13/11 4:15pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

damn, I missed me some BSI action. Work done got the best of me.
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:18pm exaudio:

Mint Royale must've sampled Shocking Blue's Acka Raga. It was in the scene in Vanilla Sky where Tom Cruise is running through an abandoned Times Square.
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:19pm BSI:

@90% dc pat: behold! gemüsemaschine!

Thu. 10/13/11 4:20pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

@ Ike--trying to find a real download of the Orban AAC+ but no luck on two sites so far. Thanks for the tip, I need it!
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:21pm Julie:

release the kreken!
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:22pm Cheri Pi:

Julie, you beat me to it!
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:24pm Julie:

@Cheri we should be ashamed of ourselves! I also learned recently that there is a rum called Kraken. Oh the jokes that will follow..
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:24pm Marmalade Kitty:

Fabiolous!!!!
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:25pm Julie:

oops that should be @CheriPi no confusion!
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:25pm 90% dc pat:

man, I can't even spell German properly...

BSI, you better be using that in your live sets!
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:25pm Cheri Pi:

You will release the Kreken at the setting of the sun. There, you will turn over Andromeda to the Kreken. This is the vengeance I seek for my son Calybos!
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:27pm Ike:

Hey @DCE you could try this:

Then click download. Not sure if'll work on a locked-down work 'puter though, but worth a try.
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:28pm hubba:

This is awesome! Phonophani is like Robert Wyatt on Ralph Records but a bit more Fonal friendly
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:29pm Cecile:

Hey, science says there may have actually been a Kraken.

  Thu. 10/13/11 4:33pm Cheri Pi:

I love the new Kraken!!! What a badass killing machine.
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:34pm Neo-Kraken:

I also predict soccer games quite well.
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:35pm Carmichael:

God dammit all to hell and back again. I missed another *actual* BSI playback, and have to go to the *go-to* archives. Some day I'll hear your pre-recorded stuff played live.
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:37pm Marmalade Kitty:

the deep..Roaaawaahghhlll..sea animals love wfmu by all accounts..
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:37pm das:

I know this should sound creepy, but it's making me laugh. It's like being haunted by the three stooges.
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:39pm BSI:

great sparse piano in this.
speaking of which, Roedelius down here last night was brilliant.
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:40pm Cheri Pi:

Can you believe that Roedelius is playing in Cincinnati soon? I'll be to star-struck to approach him though...
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:40pm Marmalade Kitty:

Thats the sound effect they love SO much!!
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:42pm Cecile:

You should take Roedelius out to that fancy grilled cheese place, Cheri
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:43pm BSI:

@Cheri Pi: no need for star-struckedness; He's a great guy, top chap.... Definitely say howdy....
Thu. 10/13/11 4:44pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

oh yeah, he's playing in Oberlin (just west of CLE) next Wednesday. Wowza!

@ Ike, the download worked but not sure what to do after that...I know, I'm a help vampire...I'll putz.
Thu. 10/13/11 4:45pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

ah, no, I must be an admin to run the codec, yeah...
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:47pm hubba:

I remember appraoching Terry Riley, about 7 years ago ,after a free performance he played with his and an ensemble for an autograph... I got my buddies to go up with me, with program in hand, and he was a little taken back by the request. He was like, "well, okay," and then just stared at for a long time after he signed them. He said thanks and asked if we enjoyed the performance, and returned to gather ingup his belongings. I felt like such a child, but to me, since he is from Northern California, he is as much a hero as say Jimi Hendrix. I still have the program, and I cherish it.
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:49pm jelrod:

Listening in at the doctors office. Keep on, Fabio.
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:49pm Cheri Pi:

One of my gal-pals is opening for him so we're all pretty excited.
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:50pm Cheri Pi:

Oh our fancy Grilled Cheese place that made the national TV! Everybody should go there, it's really a gem of a place and such a simple idea.
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:53pm Looms:

Thu. 10/13/11 4:53pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

Thu. 10/13/11 4:54pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

(I do not believe in waiting 2 hours for anything)
Thu. 10/13/11 4:54pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

Ignatz will do that to a body, Looms!
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:57pm Carmichael:

Top of the hour, Fabio. Station ID!! Station ID!!
  Thu. 10/13/11 4:59pm Cecile:

Yeah, if I make it to CLE, I'm going to the Market, the grilled cheese place, onr of Syman's restaurants, and I dunno where else. It looks like there is a ton of good food there.
