|
Fri. 9/9/11 9:12am
T-Zero:
Morning. Take a deep breath, Scott. You may know you were running late and feel a bit frazzled, but WE wouldn't know that. :) Even so, we'd go with your flow.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 9:13am
Scott:
Putting that all behind me now. Going with the present.

Fri. 9/9/11 9:27am
fred:
@scott: not really, I'm only of the lucky ones who do get some sunlight. I found this photo: http://tinyurl.com/3qu2gwu Whoever took it was probably standing a few steps in front of my office door
|
Fri. 9/9/11 9:29am
Scott:
What you work at IRCAM!? Cool!
|
Fri. 9/9/11 9:32am
fred:
@scott: I'm not involved in the music side at all, I'm just a software developer working for the researchers there
|
Fri. 9/9/11 9:32am
pierre:
The IRCAM looks great fred !
|
Fri. 9/9/11 9:39am
Scott:
Right on! I heart the centre pompidou.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 9:52am
Woggy:
yeah - flute! r youngs is a pretty interesting guy - what kind is it? reminds me of what great soundspace sam rivers carves out with a flute, too.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 9:54am
pierre:
if you ever come to Centre Georges Pompidou, we should grab a drink there Scott, with fred, and all french fmu-ers, should be fun.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 9:56am
Scott:
Next summer I'll be there for a short visit :)
|
Fri. 9/9/11 9:57am

|
Fri. 9/9/11 9:58am

Fri. 9/9/11 10:01am
hamburger:
ah. the lone shakuhachi player.. very solemn
|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:06am
bruceleh:
Scott, note that many corporate web proxies don't allow connection to social sites, like Facebook. (Not that I would ever go to Facebook)
|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:08am
fred:
@scott and pierre: if such a meet-up can be arranged, I'll be there

|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:22am
Dead Corporate Eyes:
morning everyone! can't seem to wake up at all this week with the gloomy weather all 'round.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:23am
Dead Corporate Eyes:
wait...Garth Brooks has gone all experimental/ambient on our asses?
|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:24am
Dead Corporate Eyes:
that makes more sense Scott
|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:25am
Mike East:
I agree DCE - I was just singing to my wife this morning - "They say that waking up is hard to do..." She thought this was hilarious. That's why I married her.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:27am
Dead Corporate Eyes:
you're a lucky man, Mike. Every time I try to joke with my wife she just gives me the cold stare. She never really got my sense of humor.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:30am
Cecile:
I noticed the past tense in there, DCE.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:31am
Dead Corporate Eyes:
no, we're still together, should have said she never really "gets" my sense of humor. It's understandable. I'm a complete goofballdoofus.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:32am
Cecile:
Do you laugh together, though? That's important in a marriage. Not that it's any of my business, I'm just in den mother mode.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:36am
Mike East:
deep down, I'll bet she appreciates the goofball in you. Some people just play the part of thinkin they're too cool to laugh at silliness. But who doesn't love a doofus?
|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:36am
Dead Corporate Eyes:
we're good and getting better, actually. thanks, den mom!
|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:37am
Dead Corporate Eyes:
hell, we got 15 yrs of marriage comin up later this month, plus we dated 5 years pre-marriage.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:38am
bruceleh:
Who doesn't love a doofus? Uptight anal-rententive WASPs, for sure.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:39am
das:
I just listened to the last 20 minutes without my headphones plugged in and didn't notice. Is it tomorrow yet?
|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:40am

|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:42am

Fri. 9/9/11 10:48am

It's too late for me, save yourselves
|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:49am
Sarah:
Nice groove - takes my mind off of the data entry!
|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:49am
Cecile:
I love that Kompakt sound. It soothes me without putting me to sleep.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:51am
Wild Neil:
Excellent beats! | |
|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:52am

|
Fri. 9/9/11 10:54am
Hugo:
Exactly, Cecile. Scott, got some Shackleton? Bought a lot of stuff while in London recently.
|

hubba:
Hello Scott, radical listeners, and mom, if you're out there, hello to you too!
|
Fri. 9/9/11 11:18am
Wild Neil:
Brian Jonestown Massacare-ish?
|
Fri. 9/9/11 11:21am
Hugo:
Not exactly "neu", but still very good ...
|
Fri. 9/9/11 11:27am
Cecile:
ah, another fine Destijl recording. Label owner Clint has a knack, for sure.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 11:29am
hubba:
Scott, based on your selections, I've had to open the old pocket book... current selection a must, thanks for jamming the goods (also, Helm thumbs up, way up, okay down a little, there you go!)
|
Fri. 9/9/11 11:31am
Dead Corporate Eyes:
yes, I must agree, this rules and I need to find this track at 2am tomorrow morning for guidance.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 11:37am
Dead Corporate Eyes:
flavored with a nice dose of Syd
|
Fri. 9/9/11 11:37am
dave:
when you're C. Spencer Yeh, you have to make a fairly straightforward (if awesome) pop track to really shock people.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 11:39am
Cecile:
I like Green and his pop-subversive era a little better. Can't mistake that voice, though.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 11:43am
Cecile:
Songs to Remember is brilliant.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 11:44am
hubba:
Songs to Remember is on constant rotation at home... with the Paul Simon solo record of 1970 and Aztec Camera's High Land Hard Rain as bookends.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 11:45am
hubba:
The b-side of The Band's In Cahoots occasionally intervenes
|
Fri. 9/9/11 11:46am
Cecile:
For me it's Was/Not Was's first album and Bubba Sparxxx's Deliverance with some Captain Beefheart for spice.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 11:50am
Scott:
Songs to Remember is so disappointing. Is it subversive?
|
Fri. 9/9/11 11:53am
hubba:
I think what I find appealing about Songs to Remember, and I waded cautiously, as I am a fan of the Early era tracks, is the inversion of what was going with production and incorporation of "othering" music. I don't know if it is subversive; what would that audience be?
|
Fri. 9/9/11 11:56am
hubba:
Okay, post-Songs to Remember, my favorite thing about my collection of scratchy 12"s I salvaged from dollar bins is the fact that they play slo-mo style on 33... versions work as edits, but that is about it.
|
Fri. 9/9/11 11:57am
hamburger:
ze sprockets are in place..
