Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

ugghhh...the three-day weekend drag-ass feeling just won't go away

Matt from Springfield:
Hi Brian, Cheri Pi and DCE! Whatever this Brother Ah is, I'm likin' it! 70s avant-garde jazz?

Tue. 9/6/11 3:13pm
mitch:
love!love!love!love!
|
Tue. 9/6/11 3:13pm
Matt from Springfield:
70s avant-garde African-American preaching? The good Brother Ah does have a great message on love, and a good beat to top it off.

@GSH: That's funny, I was just thinking of your original, live version of that from 1970 once he started preaching over the beat.
|
Tue. 9/6/11 3:19pm
Matt from Springfield:
And this "Rat Race"! Never heard of this one, but I should have! Classic soul A++!
|
Tue. 9/6/11 3:26pm
still b/p:
Trouble played Labelle doing a version of The Revolution Will Not Be Televised this morning, so evidently it's in the cosmic post-3-day-weekend thought-thread.

Rodney:
UH, GOOD GOD! | |
|
Tue. 9/6/11 3:29pm
Droll:
Nothing says GFOS tribute like a kids chorus accompanied by a pathetically bland piano! A true gem of that lost art.
|
Tue. 9/6/11 3:29pm
Carmichael:
Hiya BT and everyone. I could use a little soul stirring on a (DCE-patented) "drag ass" Tuesday. Don't ever get all of your siblings and all of their offspring in your house at the same time.
|
Tue. 9/6/11 3:35pm
Matt from Springfield:
Wow, thanks Brian! Wouldn't have guessed the Max Roach connection. There was something about that beat I loved!
|
Tue. 9/6/11 3:43pm
Jeanne:
The sound of water trickling out the gutters in my backyard is adding a very complementary sound layer to this rainy day soundtrack.
|
Tue. 9/6/11 3:48pm
Ty:
I liked the slide guitar, (I guess it was) on that track by Jan Dukes de Grey. Thanks for playing it. I am working in a wine and liquor shop up in Mtown NY, and we have you over the loudspeakers in here. Ty

Anyone else recall Clay's NUMEROUS readings from that autobio during his epic fill-in over Hurricane Irene?

Tue. 9/6/11 3:57pm
D. Boon:
@Sammy: Just write "double nickels", on the dime.

Hot Chocolate--they have such a classic 70s sound, but besides "You Sexy Thing" they aren't too well known in the US.
|
Tue. 9/6/11 4:25pm
Matt from Springfield:
And of course old skool hip hop, he don't "even talk his rap too fast!" Such a Golden Age for rap.

Its two guys from wisconsin, the Wreathes. It's great!
|
Tue. 9/6/11 4:59pm
Matt from Springfield:
All right, I thought it rocked myself! I could tell they were singing in English with my earphones, but at first I thought it sounded German or Scandinavian.
|
Tue. 9/6/11 5:00pm
Matt from Springfield:
Now the Thai language, is always appreciated by me. Thai food even more so...
|
Tue. 9/6/11 5:07pm
Mike East:
@Matt - I'm a big fan or their Iced Tea, myself
|
Tue. 9/6/11 5:10pm
Matt from Springfield:
Hey Mike! Iced Tea or Iced Coffee--both excellent with their spicier dishes. Apparently years ago they mixed in condensed milk from cans to sweeten, but nowadays it seems only American restaurants and the touristy areas in Thailand sell it.
|
Tue. 9/6/11 5:17pm
Mike East:
Yes! My first introduction to the iced coffee with condensed milk was at a Pho joint in Virginia. Deelicious!
