  Mon. 8/22/11 4:00pm race e kay:

ok scott. when something is mixed into both left and right channels but the phase has been flipped on one channel it will make that instrument "appear" to come from a strange place. if you then play with the pan knob it will begin to float to other areas. of course reverb and delay can enhance this effect even more. often in the studio we use the phase button on each instrument by itself just to make sure it's not out of phase, but some of use use it as a cool effect, as you described.
  Mon. 8/22/11 4:01pm hubba:

Dude! Is this the Captain Trip 3cd set?

  Mon. 8/22/11 4:03pm Scott:

Of course, phase! Thanks race e kay! that helps explain why radio audience can't hear it - out-of-phaseness is our gravest enemy, usually just contributing that seasicky feeling
  Mon. 8/22/11 4:04pm Scott:

It's part of it, Hubba
  Mon. 8/22/11 4:05pm bryce:

it's very quiet
  Mon. 8/22/11 4:09pm race e kay:

i never thought of the fact that phase would be an issue on the radio, but makes tons of sense. wonder how it differs from digital audio streaming... did I just lose the stream or are you now very quiet?
Mon. 8/22/11 4:10pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

Scott was pulling a Bryce
  Mon. 8/22/11 4:10pm race e kay:

ahh. there you are! just quiet.

  Mon. 8/22/11 4:23pm Carmichael:

Wow, I haven't heard this song in yeeeeeears .... They have some wonderful phase/wa-wa/sound effect noises in this tune.
Mon. 8/22/11 4:26pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

hey, has anybody seen Nektar and Brainticket on their current tour? Coming to CLE next Sunday...just don't know WHAT to expect!!
  Mon. 8/22/11 4:28pm Carmichael:

Wow, Nektar. That's another band I just filed away in my brain decades ago. Next you'll tell me Happy the Man is touring.

Thanks for the plug!
Mon. 8/22/11 4:38pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

sounds normal to me. I can hear you.
  Mon. 8/22/11 4:38pm Ike:

@DCE, yes. And that includes all of the water in your body or bodies (60-80% of your constitution, I believe, Earthing). Hand it over. That goes for the rest of ya too.
Mon. 8/22/11 4:38pm yair yona (tel aviv, Earth):

  Mon. 8/22/11 4:38pm BSI:

Mon. 8/22/11 4:38pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

  Mon. 8/22/11 4:40pm efd:

Your voice (and by extension, the mic) was sounding just fine to me.
Mon. 8/22/11 4:40pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

efd, BSI, that is a GREAT title for...something...do you know any women who would let you record them chewing, though?
  Mon. 8/22/11 4:41pm WiLD nEiL:

Brian JOnes Massacre with a little bit of mudhoney but if mark arm sang gently
  Mon. 8/22/11 4:41pm Julie:

Mon. 8/22/11 4:41pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

(Mrs DCE would say "get the fuck away from me")
  Mon. 8/22/11 4:42pm BSI:

@DCE, I was thinking more like something moist in a sink disposal unit, recorded and slowed to ungodly proportions....
  Mon. 8/22/11 4:43pm hubba:

I've been feeling the Mudhoney "Piece of Cake" album... i don't know why, but it reminds of Royal Trux "Sweet Sixteen"
  Mon. 8/22/11 4:44pm Ike:

@Wild Neil@4:35: NOOOOOO! Keep that Starcastle away from me! AIIIIEEEEE! <dying gurgle> You have defeated me... well-played, Earthling.
  Mon. 8/22/11 4:44pm BSI:

...or my dog gnawing on his favorite nasty rubber chicken, also slowed to ungodly proportions.....
  Mon. 8/22/11 4:44pm Scott:

I'm down for women chewing recordings, send 'em my way! Yo, yair yona! Gonna be hitting some DXM today methinks. Hey, thanks all for your prolly accurate crack diagnoses of nothing wrong, that's what I really love
Mon. 8/22/11 4:45pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

  Mon. 8/22/11 5:00pm hubba:

@M. East - Found a bunch of tamarind flavored stuff at this tamale place... I do not recommend the plastic spoons wrapped with saran wrap and rubber bands... it is pure brown sugar and tamarind. I was told you are supposed to put it in hot chocolate... i ate it like a lollipop... gross
  Mon. 8/22/11 5:01pm Looms:

Ziggy, shut up!!!!
  Mon. 8/22/11 5:01pm Droll:

Make it stop!!
  Mon. 8/22/11 5:02pm Looms:

  Mon. 8/22/11 5:03pm BSI:

It was hurtful for a minute, then I came out the other side and it's getting hilarious-er and hilarioussser. ... Although I could pop out the other side of THAT, and that's uncharted territory. I think.
  Mon. 8/22/11 5:03pm pierre:

Bonsoir Scott and all the listeners that are here and there…
