Legendary NYC baroque pop band The Left Banke is back on the scene with shows at Brooklyn's Littlefield July 20th, 2011 and in August at Bearsville Theatre in Woodstock. Original members Tom Finn and George Cameron joined forces with singer Mike Fornatale, Gripweed Rick Reil, Losers Lounge founder Joe McGinty and a few other pals. The band held court for Irene in WFMU's studio B on a very hot Sunday. Tom Finn, along with longtime friend, producer and arranger Ralph Affoumado, dropped by to let you hear the result and talk about The Left Banke's rich past, present and future.

I met Frankie from the fruit gum company a couple of weeks ago. Really nice guy, no pretensions that the music was more important than it was. They tour around still, him and another original member with some younger guys.

The Bryant Hotel looks like it was very close to the Brill Bldg and others in the area which had music studios, etc. My brother - a bass player in another band - claimed that he sat in part of the recording of "Walk Away Renee" in one of those buildings.
