  Fri. 7/15/11 3:08pm Cecile:

Kurt! Heh. That graphic is funny.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:08pm Handsome Harry:

Brilliant animation as always. I miss the 'ol time-slot, though.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:08pm hubba:

Yo Kurt, what up!?

Unable to view graphic...
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:10pm J J:

Cellos are sexy.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:10pm DJ KG:

hellos! thanks for tuning in.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:11pm Cecile:

I love the Isley Bros of that era. They'd always do their songs Part 1 and Part 2, and Part 2 was a guitar solo.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:12pm Minnesota Jeff:

Talking Weather: Its pouring here in MN, cats and dogs ever - how about on your end??
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:14pm Cecile:

Mine is the same as yours , Jeff.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:14pm still b/p:

When I was 15, a girl in our circle would seek me out quickly when Who's That Lady would start on the radio or jukebox. She wanted me to do the tongue trill that happens near the song's beginning, and she'd give me a reward for it, usually something out of the candy machine. And I did it, so help me, I did it. Like a performing seal. A cheap performing seal doing a trickless trick.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:18pm Isleys:

Who's That Trekkie?
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:18pm Mike East:

Quite sunny looking out across the Hudson over here.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:20pm Minnesota Jeff:

What are people sipping on right now? Fluid Talk.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:25pm DJ KG:

coffee&water. always.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:25pm DJ KG:

(separate cups)
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:27pm Handsome Harry:

Tap water. Plenty of it.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:27pm Isleys:

Someone played drunken frisbee with this copy.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:28pm Mike East:

I just drank a cola and a ginger ale and am feeling kinda sick. I don't know why I did it since I don't usually drink soda....I'm gonna move on to water.
Fri. 7/15/11 3:31pm Wendy del Formaggio:

KURT! Hello! I love this Isley Bros song. The lyrics are reprehensible, but the tune itself is so wonderful. Especially the woo-woo-woo sound. Is it a guitar effects pedal? A synth of some sort? Music geeks, please help.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:37pm Cecile:

ti's a wah wah pedal, Wendy.
Fri. 7/15/11 3:40pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Cecile, really? That's it. Wow. I feel like a dope. I guess if they were playing instruments made of cheese I'd know all about it, but wah-wah pedals are beyond my ken.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:43pm Cecile:

Here's the whole breakdown of Ernie's sound. I couldn't tell you what pedal it is, but these guys know:

  Fri. 7/15/11 3:43pm Wahwah Pedals:

Invented in 1966-67, the most common function of the wah-wah pedal is as a lead guitar booster. Frequently, lead lines do not cut through the mix of the band sufficiently, so some sort of effect is utilized to push the lead part to the front. Moreover, it mimics some of the sounds of human speech, which are typically picked up more readily by the human ear. Many people also find that use of the wah-wah pedal adds emotional expressiveness to single-note guitar lines, such as the solos on Cream's "White Room", Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)", etc.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:43pm Jack:

"Who's That Lady" ? I missed it, but I think the guitar sound is some kind of a phase shifter, which was a new-ish effect back in 1973 when this song was made.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:43pm Handsome Harry:

I think it is a wah-wah type pedal in conjunction with a fuzz pedal.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:43pm Cecile:

It's actually two pedals feeding into each other. Wow. That's kind of cool.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:45pm Jack:

or maybe a flanger. but not a wah-wah.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:45pm Marmalade Kitty:

WTF is dis? I don't get it no non non!
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:46pm Handsome Harry:

Some combination of the Dunlop Rotovibe, Voodoo Labs Proctavia, Boss BF-2 Flanger, Boss CE-5 Chorus, Proco Rat 2, Proco Rat 2, & Dunlop Crybaby Wah perhaps.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:46pm Marmalade Kitty:

that aint how you play a cry baby..!?
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:47pm Ho Ming:

Mutron 3 Phaser and Tube Screamer
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:47pm DJ KG:

marmalade kitty! i feel like i haven't seen you for years!
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:48pm Cecile:

The tech geeks think it's the two Rat pedals cascading into each other. Whatever that means.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:48pm Jack:

Ernie Isley and his brother lived up the hall from a friend of mine in the dorm at CW Post college. He'd play guitar all night long, riffing constantly.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:49pm Ho Ming:

Ernie played the drums on many of their tracks, as well. A creative Pisces.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:50pm Marmalade Kitty:

actually I love this stuff! ;)
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:51pm Cecile:

Ho, he really revitalized their sound in the 70s.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:52pm Handsome Harry:

Or maybe it is "a Roger Mayer Octavia and Electro Harmonix Big Muff." That's my vote.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:52pm ?:

Go For Your Guns is my fave. Voyage to Atlantis. Climbin' Up The Ladder. Great stuff.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:53pm Cecile:

Love Go For Your Guns - that was my first experience with them. My copy is so beat up...
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:54pm Fidella Reece:

This music makes me want to prepare myself for the Rubber Band ... Man.
  Fri. 7/15/11 3:59pm Marmalade Kitty:

Hi Kurt! the show opened up great! then the show was spiked with something funny.. or was it me??dunno what happened after that...
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:00pm Curious:

Is cork a plant?
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:01pm DJ KG:

  Fri. 7/15/11 4:04pm Rodney Marsh:

  Fri. 7/15/11 4:05pm W.C. Fields:

What contemptible scoundrel has stolen the cork to my lunch?
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:07pm Burgess:

Corky, see if you can make Fats keep quiet for 5-minutes.
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:08pm Jack:

Is "Corky" short for something else? A great nickname.
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:10pm Handsome Harry:

Cornwallis? Cornelius?
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:11pm DJ KG:

"corky" is short for "COOOOOOOOOOOOOORKYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!"
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:12pm Handsome Harry:

  Fri. 7/15/11 4:13pm Ludlow:

  Fri. 7/15/11 4:20pm Amanda:

Greco-Roman Drinking
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:27pm hubba:

Did anyone mention spit slruping? you know, where you let the spit hang as long, and far dwon as possible before you slurp it back up...
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:28pm Wild Neil:

The Zuni I met in New Mexico are the mellowest, coolest people I ever met...
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:29pm Handsome Harry:

Love it. The Earth that is. New Earth has been pretty fantastic as of late.
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:30pm Wild Neil:

HEAVY. .....MAN....
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:34pm Minnesota Jeff:

Earth is so awesome. Any time in their discography - awesome.
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:37pm Handsome Harry:

Middle Earth, Old Earth, heap it on.
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:38pm Mike East:

I'm not familiar with Earth, but that was pretty great.
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:38pm gross anonymity:

After certain beverages, my spit slurping skills are sharp and daunting, maybe medal-worthy. I've toyed with the idea of going after pieces of pop corn with a line of bungeeing spit, like a frog after a fly, but never tried.
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:44pm hubba:

I just remember the Beavis and Butthead episode where the exchange student, Heru (?), projects this massive spit-slurp onto a crowd of people over the railing from the second level of the mall, covering them in whole, and is able to hoist it back-up... whoa!
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:46pm Mike East:

hubba - I was just thinking about that! I'm impressed that you remember the kids name.
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:47pm hubba:

@Mike East - great minds think alike :)
I'm not as impressed... well, maybe i should be, it was about 10,000 bong rips-ago!
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:48pm Minnesota Jeff:

DJ KG is a saint.
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:49pm hubba:

going in for the kill!
Fri. 7/15/11 4:49pm The Minister of Caps:

Sabbath!!!
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:49pm ted:

one of the most under rated sabbatth albums and song
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:50pm Minnesota Jeff:

I hear you on that one, ted!
Fri. 7/15/11 4:51pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Ooh, Black Sabbath will pretty much always make me happy. I don't know this album!
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:54pm other david:

Ahoy hoy from Ireland - love the gif Jeff!

About to open the first beer of the night
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:55pm hubba:

This may be a stretch but, Technical Ecstasy is the Zinc Alloy (T. Rex) of Sabbath albums... I didn't consider it until I actually heard it.
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:56pm northguineahills:

Awesome set Kurt! I'm kicking myself for missing the Derek Bailey while out at the laundromat.
  Fri. 7/15/11 4:57pm Minnesota Jeff:

I ain't too versed on T.Rex - but Technical Ecstacy is great. Its much more of a Blue Oyster Cult-esque album and has wild cover art - I think thats what has left it fairly ignored.
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:01pm Cecile:

Wow. Opthamologist-metal.
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:11pm J J:

Cracks me up sometimes when I realize the Boredoms were once on Warner Brothers.
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:11pm adam:

ridiculous show so far ! right on
Fri. 7/15/11 5:13pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Aha, how did I know you'd play Eye of the Chicken, Kurt? :-)
I was on the phone with my Mom during the song, but I still heard it.
Is it round, or is it square?
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:15pm DJ KG:

is it round or is it swear? i almost missed it!
Fri. 7/15/11 5:20pm Wendy del Formaggio:

The line happens right where Concubine and Eye of the Chicken meet, which is why I never really knew to which song it belonged. When this album came out, I bought it on cassette tape (!!!) so it's not like a person could know which track anything was on.
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:29pm seang:

I like my coffee black as midnight on a moonless night
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:29pm Crim:

starless and bible black, even.
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:33pm hubba:

just secured a copy of "Black Metal" by Venom on cassette at the local second-hand record store! not like anyone cares, but I'm super excited...
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:34pm DJ KG:

i care, hubba. i care.
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:35pm hubba:

Kurt, as Minn. Jeff has already stated, you are a saint!
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:37pm moE:

This cover blows!
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:39pm Cecile:

I agree! Someone said she covered Adele very nicely.
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:39pm Cecile:

That was the Adele song!
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:40pm Cecile:

Rolling in the Deep.
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:41pm Cecile:

And if you can find me a, erm, documentation of it for a, erm collegue, let me know...
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:43pm DJ KG:

"rolling in the deep" by adele? i'll look for it. don't know that song, but it was cute as all goddamned hell when she did it with her daughter and maggie and suzze roche singing backup and doing choreographed but unrehearsed hand movements
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:44pm Cecile:

nice, Kurt!
Fri. 7/15/11 5:45pm Listener Dave From Seattle:

I seem to have tuned in at a strange point in the broadcast.
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:45pm Mike East:

village voice 4 knots festival tomorrow... Black Angels, Titus Andronicus, some others....free - south street seaport. anybody goin?
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:48pm DJ KG:

i'll be there for eleanor f!
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:48pm J J:

This isn't a chant, this is gibberish. I should know since I make the same sounds like this at work at this late hour.
Fri. 7/15/11 5:49pm Listener Dave From Seattle:

The combination of the chant and the animation makes me feel really funny.
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:49pm Mike East:

speaking of late hour...I just realized its almost time to go! yabba dabba dooooo!!
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:52pm ?:

@Mike: Do you drive home by putting your feet through the bottom of the car and running?
Fri. 7/15/11 5:53pm Listener Dave From Seattle:

Is this a Windy & Carl cover?
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:53pm Mike East:

I take the bronto bus.
  Fri. 7/15/11 5:57pm Marmalade Kitty:

  Fri. 7/15/11 5:58pm hubba:
