Listener comments!

  3:10pm
BodegaMan:

nice "wait for it" dynamic MN Jeff. Walter Matthau is dead right?

(howdy all)
  3:11pm
still b/p:

Happy to see Walter. He will bring me Friday luck. He is dead, right, and always dead right.
  3:18pm
Minnesota Jeff:

If you are anything like me, your first encounter with Mr. Matthau is when he played Mr. Wilson in the Dennis the Menace movie. "G-D garden lanterns!" "Hmmm, tastes like paint."
  3:23pm
Cecile:

Mine was probably the Odd Couple.
  3:24pm
Julie:

there's a singer just called "julie?" I will have to check out
  3:24pm
Walter Matthau:

Dead is just a state of mind.
  3:25pm
Julie:

Do you remember Walter? -- Ray Davies
  3:26pm
still b/p:

Yes, for some of us who are...whaddayacallit...older, the Hello, Walter moment was with Oscar Madison, a role he was cosmically suited for and is hugely entertaining in.
  3:29pm
Sven:

I thought I was hearing 'Angel Of Death' ...
  3:29pm
Bobby Sherman:

Julie, Julie, Julie, do ya love me?
  3:30pm
DJ KG:

julie - i'll leave you the 45.
  3:32pm
Julie:

why thank you, Sir
  3:32pm
wikipediac:

The first remake of "One Fine Day" to chart in the US was that by veteran cabaret singer Julie Budd whose disco version - credited to Julie - reached #93 in 1976.
  3:32pm
Julie:

Clay used to play Bobby Sherman for me..kinda miss that..oooh that's Julie Budd. Wasn't she a Streisand imitator or something?
  3:53pm
paula pc:

if you mess with this Carpenters song, I'll kill you
  3:53pm
northguineahills:

suite! the carpenters!
  3:54pm
Bridget:

Yay! I LOVE THE Carpenters! <3
  4:06pm
jason:

blight!
  4:15pm
37:

just got here... nice n' heavy!!
  4:22pm
Minnesota Jeff:

Kurt, if you got Black Sabbaths "Technical Ecstasy" lying round you would be doing me a huge service and playing "Gypsy" off of it. Thanks!
  4:24pm
paula pc:

there is no one like Marion Coutts...except maybe Karen Carpenter.
  4:27pm
DJ KG:

MNgif - due to technical problems, i am waaaaaaaaaaaaaay upstairs in studio b, far from the library, which is my excuse for not playing requests this week!

hi everyone.
  4:27pm
βrian:

Is that a Jonathan Kane drone riff I'm hearing?
  4:32pm
Minnesota Jeff:

Funny, I've also got the Rat Patrol on the Gat Patrol.
  4:36pm
Cecile:

has anyone ever criticized Jay-Z? he seems a little disingenous.
  4:37pm
Brass Knuckles:

This song: NO. Seriously fuck Mark Ronson. Pointless twat.
  4:38pm
DJ KG:

ronson's a good producer. and santogold is way cool.
  4:39pm
Ike:

I'll criticize Jay-Zzzzzzzz. His lyrics put me to sleep. He could learn a few things from Sage Francis.
  4:40pm
Jay Z:

Ikey hates it!
  4:41pm
BodegaMan:

there have been a few critics of Jay-Z but most don't get any credence because he has such good will in the business - mot people chalk it up to jealousy. Especially when he was CEO of Def Jam he caught a lot of heat for basically ignoring all other artists than himself.
  4:41pm
stupidhurts:

meh
  4:44pm
Ike:

I can't deny "99 Problems" has a killer hook but the misogyny speaks for itself. Anyway I love this Bubblyfish. This gets today's reward for best cover version of anything. Bubblyfish, come on down! (I've got "The Price is Right" in my head for some reason.)
  4:44pm
Cecile:

I guess it's like Kanye or someone bitching about stuff. I'm like, OK, people criticize you. Go start a goat farm or something.
  4:44pm
Cecile:

Make weird records like Scott Walker.
  4:45pm
bug:

What is this nice dj's name?
  4:45pm
Ike:

ROTFL @Cecile, goat farm indeed! :)
  4:46pm
Cecile:

Norman Greenbaum got sick of the rat race and started a goat farm. Terminator X raises ostriches.
  4:47pm
Cecile:

You can play anything you like, KG.
  4:47pm
Cecile:

livestock will always like you because you feed them. Which is probably more than you'll get from an entourage.
  4:48pm
Jay-Zed:

I got 99 problems and a goat farm ain't one.
  4:48pm
still b/p:

What's Greenbaum charging for 8 oz. of decent cheese?
  4:49pm
Cecile:

I don't know, but you can get great, cheap goat cheese in Minneapolis. Surdyk's had a nice packet for $4.99.
  4:50pm
Cecile:

Norman is no longer in the goat business. That ended about 35 years ago.
  4:51pm
Norman:

I do canned ham now.
  4:52pm
BodegaMan:

when I think of 99 Probs I think about LL Cool J's song "Illegal Search" form way back. LLs song is on the same theme but much better than 99 Problems. LLs is more pointedly political whereas Jay Z cant help but take something inspired by racial profiling and turning the focus on his favorite subject which is Jay Z as the rich pimp.
  4:53pm
jk:

this sounds Thai to me. possible molam?
  4:53pm
J J:

Jay-Z has said the bitch in 99 Problems is a police dog. pimps, goats, and bitches.
  4:53pm
Norman:

pimp my herd.
  4:56pm
Ike:

Indonesian writing is usually in a Roman/English-style alphabet. This sounds Thai to me. Thai looks like this: ตัวอักษรไทย
  4:58pm
Cecile:

this is magical.
  5:01pm
Ike:

Amazing Thai (or Laotian) track, by the way.

Kurt, I only criticized Jay-Z because Cecile asked if anybody had criticized him! I swear! It's all Cecile's fault! :) :)
  5:02pm
FCC:

Legal ID doesn't have to given precisely at 5:00. It's "on the hour... during a natural program break."
  5:02pm
Cecile:

I'll take the blame. It was a rhetorical question. He should still start a goat farm.
  5:03pm
Jay-Z:

Has anyone ever criticized Cecile?
  5:04pm
Cecile:

Take a number and get in line.
  5:04pm
Norman:

Cecile is a know-it-all.
  5:04pm
Ike:

Nah, srsly, I have a very bad habit of answering rhetorical questions.

Goat farm! Goat farm! Goat farm!
  5:05pm
Melissa:

Love this piece that you;re playing! Simply gorgeous.
  5:05pm
Minnesota Jeff:

Gotta leave Kurt, have a good week-end. Same to all the rest of you.
  5:07pm
Cecile:

great art, Jeff!
  5:08pm
Cecile:

I call myself the "pink collar Sgt Dietrich", Norman.
  5:17pm
Cecile:

great piece, very transporting.
  5:23pm
northguineahills:

nice engaging work music.
  5:34pm
northguineahills:

I like where this Anti-Social Music is going....
  5:34pm
Detective Harris:

@Cecile: Mind if I beg off stakeout duty with you?
  5:37pm
Cecile:

But there will be cheese!
  5:37pm
Detective Harris:

Well, that's a goat of a different color. Never mind.
  5:39pm
Cecile:

You bring the wine. After all, it's the 70s.
  5:50pm
Cecile:

people are playing a lot of Conquistador of late. I like it.
  5:51pm
DJ KG:

cecile, really? that's interesting.
  5:52pm
Cecile:

It's record zeitgeist!
  5:53pm
DJ KG:

woohoo!
  5:57pm
Norman:

See?
