Sun. 6/5/11 9:25pm Richard from Venezuela:

sorry for asking, but: you will be in the summer schedule?
  Sun. 6/5/11 9:26pm Martha:

No worries about asking- the summer schedule is not officially out yet so I can't speak for anyone else but yes I will be on it - same bat time, same bat channel -
Sun. 6/5/11 9:29pm Richard from Venezuela:

Glad to read that. Thanks to you and Ken Freedman.

  Sun. 6/5/11 10:24pm Martha:

Sun. 6/5/11 10:29pm Richard from Venezuela:

Hi Marmalade.
  Sun. 6/5/11 10:34pm Marmalade Kitty:

I nearly always use the wfmu flash player. Is their a difference in quality between the audio formats, do you think? Flash player vs Real player etc..?
  Sun. 6/5/11 10:36pm Martha:

Others are far better equipped to comment on this - I am kind of (actually, totally) uninformed on the subject -
  Sun. 6/5/11 10:40pm Marmalade Kitty:

yes, me too.. I'm not at all technically minded with all the nick nacks! me- ?*-*?
  Sun. 6/5/11 10:45pm Martha:

Me neither - I don't even have an mp3 player - gotta fix that when I get some $$$ -
  Sun. 6/5/11 10:46pm Marmalade Kitty:

the 128k stream sound quality is very clean.. I'm guessing that the higher k increases audio quality.. anyone please?
  Sun. 6/5/11 10:47pm hamburger:

more k = more data = more audio goodness MK!
  Sun. 6/5/11 10:50pm Marmalade Kitty:

I don't know jack**!! but I learn as i stumble along :) Thanks hamburger
  Sun. 6/5/11 10:52pm Marmalade Kitty:

128k it is then!..all the better to hear you with, Martha!!
  Sun. 6/5/11 10:54pm Ike:

Not 100% sure, but I *think* the Flash stream is a roughly 48k or 64k AAC+ stream -- producing sound quality much like 96k MP3 (maybe). Or even 128k-ish MP3. Not sure. Compare them yourself and see. (AAC+ is a special type of stream, specialized for low bitrates, IIRC. Less bandwidth for good quality.)
  Sun. 6/5/11 10:59pm jaycjay:

I usually use teh 128k stream, just because on my system there's no way I can equalize the sound if I use the flash player, and I like to tweak it a bit. If I leave the EQ off, though, I certainly can't HEAR any difference in quality between the two (speaking as a long-time live audio engineer).
  Sun. 6/5/11 11:00pm jaycjay:

And of course, all that really matters is what you hear.
  Sun. 6/5/11 11:03pm Marmalade Kitty:

sounds about right. Not a massive diference in quality, just that bit cleaner

@jaycjay: why can't you equalize with the flash?
  Sun. 6/5/11 11:06pm Marmalade Kitty:

oh i see..I run audio through my stereo.. thus I'm able to equalize.. I think?
  Sun. 6/5/11 11:09pm jaycjay:

I used to run it through my stereo, when I used my desktop PC. Now I'm using a laptop so don't want to bother with tethering it to cables. So, the 128k stream through a player with EQ control is the best I can do..
  Sun. 6/5/11 11:15pm Martha:

I'm def. gonna bookmark this playlist for future reference - thanks all -
  Sun. 6/5/11 11:22pm Marmalade Kitty:

Great show Martha, you should defiately do that!
This Late Night Vocal Gravy track is interesting..
  Sun. 6/5/11 11:24pm Martha:

Yes - quite - don't know a thing about Mr. Nyoukis - didn't do my homework I guess -
  Sun. 6/5/11 11:26pm david:

gravy indeed.
  Sun. 6/5/11 11:30pm fleep:

  Sun. 6/5/11 11:56pm Martha:

I lived on and off in the central highlands of Scotland for four years - it was like this black hole for crappy weather - and only an open fireplace for heat - I feel for you -
  Sun. 6/5/11 11:59pm Martha:

And yes - we seem to have escaped for now - though it is unusual for them to be in this part of the country - Massachusetts did get it pretty hard -
