Nothing wrong with a little classical awkestra music KG. Not enough of it aired in my opinion.
  12:18pm
Carmichael:

I dig the high school kids making their own funky music.
  12:18pm
Handsome Harry:

These kids are on Ipecac Records? Awesome.
  12:18pm
BodegaMan:

Hello All.

DJ KG you're going to get yourself in trouble again when people start thinking this is another covers show.
  12:19pm
BSI:

The Widney kids have come a long way since the INSECT threats... although I dearly love the insect threats...
  12:23pm

Ricardo Montalban:

I was in the wrong playlist, comment bar. I spilled my drink on the way over here.
  1:32pm
Ricardo Montalban:

THe MVD reissue of this makes me mad. Songs have audible gaps in the formerly seemless flow.
  1:37pm
Ricardo Montalban:

Kurt: Have you heard MC Special K? http://fulllifeallstars.bandcamp.com/album/handirap

  1:48pm
ERICH:

Been listening in the car with the iPhone app.

  1:50pm
Brass Knuckles:

I don't know if I'd be applauding this long.
  1:51pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

Ooh I just watched a Gunsmoke guest-starring a young Ricardo Montalban as a Native American. I had to suspend disbelief in his wonderful accent.
  1:53pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

did you ever extend applause just because you knew it would be awkwardly silent when you stopped?
  1:53pm
Ricardo Montalban:

He absolutely NAILED Kahn Singh's accent in Star Trek, though.
  1:54pm
Cheri Pi:

it's on 1 but it sounds like 11!
  1:54pm
Ricardo Montalban:

Yes, I have, then been the only person still awkwardly applauding
  1:55pm
BSI:

ah yes, the clap. Very awkward.
  1:56pm
Ricardo Montalban:

I always picture busloads of seniors singing this song when they go up north to buy prescription drugs.
  1:56pm
Andy in Nova Scotia:

Greetings from Nova Scotia, Canada! It's all true!
  1:57pm
Handsome Harry:

Or try clapping way longer than is socially acceptable.
  1:57pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

the clap is only awkward if you don't share
  1:57pm
Parq:

A Nihilist Spam Band tribute album -- well, why the heck not?
  1:57pm
Ricardo Montalban:

Their cars left parked in a Winco parking lot. I once asked a checker if they all return or if a car carrier takes all their cars away. She just looked at me, horrified.
  2:11pm
pheezy:

Have you seen the recent BBC video interview w/ the Shaggs? http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00gtsj3
  2:12pm
Minnesota Jeff:

What would a tall man want from a short man? A Mazda Miata? Better of without I would say.
  2:12pm
Handsome Harry:

Better than the Beatles.
  2:13pm
Minnesota Jeff:

Better than Zappa at the very least.
  2:14pm
Handsome Harry:

Haahaaahaa. Right on, Minnesota Jeff.
  2:16pm
Carmichael:

She sings to talented-ly to play a Shagg.
  2:16pm
Parq:

So the Wiggins sisters are played by actresses with sweet, Broadway-style voices. Excuse me while I savor the irony.
  2:18pm
DJ KG:

minnesota gif - yes!
  2:19pm
DJ KG:

the actresses actually do a great job of singing like the shaggs, and even play the instruments. they pretty much nail it. but they don't sing the narrative songs the same way. they do a pretty great job overall in portraying how they sound to themselves and how they sound in reality.
  2:22pm
Frisco Kid:

Got here just in time to hear Y Pants! Would you believe I still have this single? Found it in a San Francisco used record bin for $1 years ago. SCORE!
  2:24pm
Minnesota Jeff:

Ha, thats pretty great actually that the girls sing beautifully when they arn't performing as the Shaggs - but when its show time - BBBRRRRRPPPP! Just like Michigan J. Frog!
  2:24pm
Parq:

KG, this whole set is tremendous. I am rearranging my workload so that I don't have to leave my desk.
  2:25pm
Orcus:

Re Shaggs Musical: Is it me, or do all Broadway shows sound pretty much like that? Wouldn't you think the composer might have gone in for some shaggsesque microtonality, possibly a prepared piano for that song?
  2:25pm
DJ KG:

aw, thanks parq!
  2:28pm
Minnesota Jeff:

DJ KG - This DNA song is making me think of this werid recoring where a guy and girl say "Mom" over and over again. I am thinking I heard it on here. It just went "Mom, mom, hey mom, mom, mom, mom look, mom, mom, hey mom, mom, look, mom look, mom mom..." And then I think hot dogs were introduced into the conversation. DId I hear that here???
  2:29pm
DJ KG:

YES! it's Lexie Mountain, mn gif. i thought of playing her on this show, actually.
  2:31pm
J J:

+1 for Jake and the Fat Man reference. I forgot that show ever existed.
  2:31pm
Marmalade Kitty:

I'm curious for mom now..
  2:31pm
Parq:

Orcus, I totally agree with you, and I think it really gets tiresome. While everyone else was going nuts over that musical about the delusional mom, I was sitting there thinking, "Oh no, not this theater-y soft rock *again*!"
  2:32pm
Frisco Kid:

Whatever you do, don't Google "mom mom hey look mom mom hot dogs" with SafeSearch turned off. Cuz that's what I just did. At work. Ooooops!
  2:33pm
PMD:

This all is great in headphones...
  2:33pm
DJ KG:

ha, frisco!

i was once working at an entertainment website and had to fact check something about the singer pink. thought i could just go to pink.com. nope.
  2:34pm
Gaiwan:

<snorts>
  2:36pm
Robert:

I don't think BJ Snowden believed me when I told her they'd added a province, Nunavit, since that song. She said, "You're funny."
  2:36pm
Carmichael:

Daniel Johnston is one of my all-time faves.
  2:38pm
ERICH:

Start released by TART in 1998.
  2:43pm
DJ KG:

thanks, erich! and thanks for sending the track.
  2:46pm
DJ KG:

actually i believe nunavut is a territory like the yukon and northwest, but yes, a recently created one.
  2:53pm
Minnesota Jeff:

I've been to Manitoba AND Ontario.
