  12:25am
Joe McG:

It was '68, tomB. Poppy label, I think.
  12:29am
Marmalade Owl:

Fine here, thanks. Beautiful sunrise here in uk
  12:30am
Joe McG:

Mmm, nice. Orange marmalade skies for you.
  12:33am
Marmalade Owl:

How's your rapture Joe? :)
  12:34am
Joe McG:

A little slow, but I'm hoping things will pick up soon. And you?
  12:39am
Chop Scott:

Joe!
Call me fanboy #1, or listener 321--Regardless, so great to hear you tonight. Thanks for all your heroic efforts there at the station!
  12:42am
Joe McG:

Hey, Chop Scott! Thanks as always for tuning in. I'm sorry you didn't get raptured, but glad to have you aboard!
  12:48am
Chop Scott:

I waited for glory, but now sitting here listening to you. Happy to be doing so in my own evil nest.
  12:49am
Joe McG:

Ha ha! A happy hell on earth it is!
  12:50am
Marmalade Owl:

crapture!
  12:52am
Chop Scott:

My favortite line that repeats in all of the Jack Chick tracts was the panel that said "Har Har Har! Hell is one big party. All my friends will be there".
  12:52am
cheri:

joe you didn't bring any nancy nor the cake tonight??
  12:53am
Joe McG:

You got it, Scott. I think you hit it, MO: it definitely was a crapture. A real stinker. I hope the next one is better.
  12:59am
cheri:

if not joe,,,no problem,,,have a g'night!
  1:03am
Marmalade Owl:

Joe, you reminded me of Clint Eastwood dj just there :)
  1:04am
Matt from Springfield:

Good evening Joe!
First time hearing Don Covay--Lord have mercy, that couple REALLY needs counseling!
  1:05am
Joe McG:

Ha ha! Hey, Matt, thanks for "checkin' in"!
  1:06am
Matt from Springfield:

I didn't even think of that! Cheri was checkin' out and I'm checkin' in!
  1:07am
Joe McG:

Wow, MO, thanks for the Clint ref. You're not going to get all misty on me, are you?
  1:09am
Matt from Springfield:

The tune kinda reminds me of "Early Morning Rain", by Gordon Lightfoot; sung by Ian & Sylvia and others.
  1:09am
Marmalade Owl:

are you going to play it? haha!
  1:10am
Joe McG:

Don't tempt me!
  1:11am

Barry from Palatine, Illinois:

Listening for the first time...will do so many more times!
  1:18am
Joe McG:

Hey, Barry! Thanks mucho!
  1:19am
Matt from Springfield:

Davila: Seis-Seis-Seis! Love their Spanish garage sound, as well as the fact that a NON metal band is taking advantage of the 6-6-6 numeral, albight in the Spanish way!

Welcome to the Club, Barry!
  1:21am
Joe McG:

Now, Davila DID use this drum sample, did they not?
  1:32am
Matt from Springfield:

Spin of the wheel? That sounds fun. And different.
  1:35am
tomB:

As I am up at this hour drafting a final for my students, it warms the cockles of my heart to hear you promote the art of compare and contrast!
  1:37am
Joe McG:

Ha ha! More to come this evening as I tackle Daniel Blumin's covers CD. This program is edumacational!
  1:42am
tomB:

Hey I used to play this Apricot Brandy on KCCS leading into the news
  1:43am
Joe McG:

Always a good idea to have some apricot brandy before the news!
  1:52am
Matt from Springfield:

The Daylights--a forgotten Girl Group? A shame, they sound great!
  1:53am
Joe McG:

Actually, the A-side is even better: "Billy Is the Boy." I just felt like hearing the one about tears tonight.
  2:06am
Matt from Springfield:

Yay! You got the PSA book!

I'm going to make sure my corrupt co-workers don't see my personal info.
  2:07am
trent:

ahhh, the intoxicated blumin mic break, i'm crying because i'm so close yet so far away
  2:11am
Matt from Springfield:

@trent: I know, don't ya just love the "Daniel and Joe Show" every week :)

I SAW Echo and his Bunnymen at the 9:30 in DC! It was great! Brian also saw them in NY--found them enjoyable for the most part.
  2:18am
#K:

AHH SHUCKS I can't believe I missed you can hide your love forever!!!!!
  2:19am
Joe McG:

Hey, #K! Were you blipping this evening?
  2:22am
#K:

Actually I was seeing Real Estate at Maxwell's. It was a long journey but so so nice (tickets thanks to Liz B). Nice to hear you kids on FMU when I got back though!
  2:23am
Joe McG:

Ah yes, one of the nice things about Fridays: Leftover tickets for volunteers! How was they?
  2:25am
Matt from Springfield:

Compare...and CONTRAST!!
No clue whatsoever what the original would sound like--I admit The Rebel was super-creative in his choice of covers!
  2:26am
#K:

They were really nice & mellow & stuff. Really great vibes to be surrounded by sonic-ly. I'll see you tomorrow maybe??
  2:26am
Marmalade Kitty (Owl'd out):

how do you access the blips? I tried earlier on flash player but it just connected to the main wfmu broadcasts ?
  2:29am
Joe McG:

@Kitty: Unfortunately, I think the Blip Festival is over, Kitty. But it should be archived. @#K: I'm going to try to be there!
  2:37am
Marmalade Kitty (Owl'd out):

Lindisfarne!
Doors cover!!
:)
  2:39am
tomB:

I was expecting Helen Rush & band to be direct descendants of Merilee Rush & the Turnabouts, instead they are The Cowboy Junkies of the new millenium!
  2:41am
Joe McG:

Not so far off the mark there, tomB!
  2:42am
Matt from Springfield:

@Joe: Now, were the originals also paired back-to-back on Daniel's premium? I like the contrast in the differences from the originals versus the re-worked versions.
  2:44am
Joe McG:

No, Matt, I think Daniel's premium assumes that people know the songs, so it's just the covers.
  2:47am
Matt from Springfield:

You need to play the originals of the rest of them, then! Or else Daniel could do a "members only" show--he plays the originals, but you need to have his premium to know just what the covers are!
  2:51am
Joe McG:

I'd like to, but I'm almost out of time, Matt!
  2:51am
Matt from Springfield:

Wonderful Stevie.
  2:51am
Marmalade Kitty:

That would be the bonus premium, available for extra pledge points perhaps?
  2:58am
Marmalade Kitty:

enjoyed both of your shows, Dan, Joe! :) Have a great weekend!!
  3:00am
Joe McG:

Have a great weekend, everybody! Thanks for listening!
  3:01am
Matt from Springfield:

Good night Joe, Dan, everyone!
