Listener comments!

  7:02pm
Marmalade Kitty:

Howdy, Betsy :)
  7:03pm
other david:

*tips hat*

I have just about recovered from Fab/Clay/Julie
  7:04pm
Betsy:

Ha ha! I can't wait to listen to all the craziness from earlier. Hey Marmalade! Happy Thurs y'all.
  7:06pm
glenn:

i was going to say - how are you going to follow up on the dumb-ass a thon?
  7:07pm
glenn:

oh man, i missed jimmie dale. i love that guy.
  7:08pm
guy:

hey, who you callin' dumb? better smile when ya say that, pardner.
  7:10pm
Betsy:

Ha! Glenn, I love Jimmie Dale too.
  7:10pm
other david:

Now we don't want no trouble guy, sit down and I'll order you a mint julep
  7:10pm
glenn:

smiling from ear to ear. nashville. good movie, better soundtrack.
  7:11pm
guy:

thankee kindly, i think i will, that'd hit the damn spot.
  7:13pm
glenn:

carolyn mark does a great tribute / remake of the nashville soundtrack. neko case sings rolling stone.
  7:14pm
Hegemony Jones:

Hey! Ya'll ever heard of Chad Morgan? You might say he's Australia's Stompin Tom Connors (but I wish you wouldn't)
Betsy Rules!
  7:16pm
Betsy:

Hey, Hegemony! Well now, I don't know of Caollyn Mark OR Chad Morgan, thanks for giving me stuff to check out for next week. :)
  7:17pm
glenn:

i am a canadian and will not allow stompin' tom to be insulted. plus, i helped build his house, and he's a great guy.
  7:17pm
dale:

evening miss betsy. i could use some forbidden fruit in my cocktail this sultry evening.
  7:18pm
glenn:

carolyn mark is great. she does a duetty thing with neko case called the corn sisters.
  7:18pm
other david:

This show is putting a smile on my face, lovely tunes.
  7:19pm
Betsy:

Hey Dale! I hear ya bud. And thanks Other David. Yep, I've heard of the Corn Sisters but haven't checked 'em out yet!
  7:20pm
Timmy Twang:

Today is the birthday of Joe Maphis !
  7:21pm
Hegemony Jones:

Stompin Tom is NOT being maligned. Chad Morgan has way more talk of sheep dip, sheilas, no talk of spuds and is more of a comedy act but still has some good songs... try "Fatal Wedding" and you'll get a good taste.
  7:21pm
mrmucho:

the godsins are godly
  7:23pm
glenn:

i didn't think you were maligning. i have heard of chad morgan, but i've not heard his music. how about kasey chambers and family?
  7:23pm
Aaron:

I thought you were saying Stompin' Tom was Australian. There'd be a problem.
  7:23pm
Betsy:

Oh yeah? Thanks for the tip, Timmy! I'll try to find something Maphis to play.
  7:23pm
Marmalade Kitty:

psychedelic country music is wicked! Am I trippin? or does The Gosdin Brothers Woman's Disgrace fit the bill?
  7:24pm
Betsy:

hey Hegemony, will check him out for sure! Hey Aaron how's Moxie??
  7:24pm
dale:

Bets, may i put in a request for something from waylon's 'waymore's blues part II some week? i like 'old timer', but every song is good on that cd....
  7:27pm
glenn:

it gets confusing. gene clark was in the byrds. gene parsons was in the byrds. gram parsons was in the byrds.
  7:29pm
Betsy:

Oh, definitely Dale! Love Waylon.
  7:29pm
mrmucho:

this song, as beautiful as it is, is a tremendous bummer
  7:30pm
cheri:

hi betsy how was your mothers day?? i hope you had fun!!! btw did you bring any nancy tonight??
  7:30pm
Aaron:

Tecumseh Valley - can't decide which version of this lyric is stranger/sadder, "...from all the hate inside her" or "from all the lust inside her." Moxie's great, thanks. She just started whistling whenever she says "uncle" - which comes out "ookoo" anyway - because I whistle to her all the time.
  7:33pm
Betsy:

Aww, I love that! And Moxie's a killer name btw.
  7:35pm
other david:

This Jim Ford track is a TUNE!
  7:36pm
Betsy:

Word. I love Jim Ford. Sly Stone's best friend!!
  7:37pm
Hugh:

Betsy!
This playlist is brilliant! Jesse, Buffy, & Townes, all performed in the 1st annual NYC folk festival, at Carnegie Hall. Number 2 never happened..
  7:38pm
Greg from Bloomfield:

Hey Betsy! I'm sketching monkeys. Please provide me with what you consider to be the best monkey sketching music.
  7:38pm
Aaron:

Hugh - what year was that?
  7:39pm
Hugh:

1964.
  7:42pm
Betsy:

Hey Greg! Ha ha, I'll have to think about that, but I sure love the sketch you did for the show! Cheri, sorry no Nancy tonight. :(
  7:42pm
Betsy:

And hey Hugh, good to see ya!
  7:45pm
Hugh:

Betsy! Great to be part of "Toothpick Rythym!
  7:46pm
dale:

there's some cowboy in sweden clips on youtube. looks kinda corny. great soundtrack though..
  7:48pm
cheri:

thnx for the great tunes tonight betsy, and for the company. hope to to see you next week!
  7:48pm
dale:

i think the cd was duped from the television tape, too. that's why it sounds so low-fi, but i think it adds actually.
  7:48pm
Wilson:

I think he's translating.

I love Lee Hazelwood.
  7:49pm
other david:

Betsy, you have a new a fan, awesome show
  7:52pm
Betsy:

A friend of mine used to put on house concerts and had Townes Van Zandt do shows a couple of times.I had no idea who he was.
  7:53pm
glenn:

i'm telling you, bad movies seem to have great soundtracks.
  7:55pm
Betsy:

Jim, that's like I used to work at a cafe in New orleans, and Allen Toussaint used to come in, but I didn't know who he was at the time!
  7:57pm
cheri:

  7:59pm
glenn:

allen toussaint wrote java, my fave al hirt tune, also performed by floyd cramer.
  8:00pm
Jim:

I remember telling my friend to call me if he was ever able to book Ronnie Van Zant.
