  12:13pm Joe B:

A national Minute of Silence will be held on Thursday, April 28 at 12:00 p.m. Central on college radio stations. the goal of the grassroots effort Minute of Silence is to bring awareness of the deep impact that the sale of student radio stations is having on campuses and their surrounding communities.
  12:13pm Joe B:

  12:15pm Twitter:

  12:17pm Parq:

  12:17pm SmokinJ:

Top o' the day jb.. It's good to be Rockin' again....
  12:37pm Cecile:

Joe, hola!
You know in some ways it's way easier to be a kid now, but on the other hand, I think growing up w/o independent radio and record&book stores is kind of a shame.
  12:42pm Cecile:

But between you and me and the tree, some student run stations at some colleges were so unimaginative and lazily-run that they SHOULD have been sold. Too bad it's the passionate, interesting ones up for sale, like KUSF.
  12:43pm pierre:

Bonjour Joe Belock !!!
Loving the set so far (as always i'd say)
  12:44pm KevinWho:

i love louisiana, and Guitar Lightnin'
  12:46pm G:

Does that mean a minute of silence here, at 1PM NYC time?
  12:54pm NPR:

Say hi to the bully! What the radio world really needs now is more xeroxed national programming.
  12:54pm efd:

That ringer is my alarm in the morning!
  1:01pm Cecile:

And even NPR stations that had local hosts and programming got turned into translator stations - our station at Michigan Tech, WGGL, used to have local hosts, local interviews, college kids playing whole sides of albums late on weekends. Then they got sold and converted into a translator station. People who listen to NPR in the upper midewest know of my hometown, it's announced. But they don't know anything about my hometown.
  1:01pm KevinWho:

talking over the minute!
  1:01pm dc pat:

am I nuts or were you guys 1 minute late?
  1:03pm To The Sticklers:

It's a symbolic act. No one is going to get arrested over the exact second it starts and ends.
  1:17pm Cecile:

I like how you said "extravaganza" with that RuPaulish lilt.
  1:21pm Nanker de Tucson:

Fun tune, this Buckner's Bolero!
  1:21pm Marmalade Kitty:

Joe, which waistcoats album, if any has, seasons on it?
  1:28pm Matt:

Who's playing at Drew's House? Anyone have any info/site for the venue?
  1:28pm Marmalade Kitty:

Sorry, my English is appalling!
  1:37pm the captain:

  1:40pm SmokinJ:

  1:42pm Bill:

Matt - It's a house concert at Drew's with the Baseball Project (Mills substituting for Buck).Since there's extremely limited space, you need to make a reservation ahead of time. Check with Drew to make sure it's not sold out: http://www.facebook.com/liveatdrews
  1:46pm Bill:
