And even NPR stations that had local hosts and programming got turned into translator stations - our station at Michigan Tech, WGGL, used to have local hosts, local interviews, college kids playing whole sides of albums late on weekends. Then they got sold and converted into a translator station. People who listen to NPR in the upper midewest know of my hometown, it's announced. But they don't know anything about my hometown. | |
