You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

  Mon. 3/21/11 9:23pm damien:

i wish i had a stronger drug right now, stronger than Zinfandel, stronger than the Vernal Equinox!
  Mon. 3/21/11 9:24pm A:

Mr. Dan, if you want your audience to do anything they normally wouldn't, now's a good time to sneak your "suggestions" into the mix!
  Mon. 3/21/11 9:25pm A:

This is kinda like a roll-your-own Circle.
  Mon. 3/21/11 9:25pm Dan B:

Thanks all, not sure if I'll be able to comment much, it's sorta a madhouse in here...@Buddy, of course I'm not high, except that I *am* on the second floor, and rising...
  Mon. 3/21/11 9:27pm 12539:

The Marshall Tucker Band has never sounded so good.
  Mon. 3/21/11 9:30pm Sean:

I'm already planning to listen to this show again and again on the archive.
  Mon. 3/21/11 9:33pm blacktooth:

Good to see that Can and Psychic TV finally got together with the Marshall Tucker Band.
Mon. 3/21/11 9:34pm Richard from Venezuela:

@sean the last week show was anthologic. Highly recommended.
  Mon. 3/21/11 9:42pm Marshall T:

  Mon. 3/21/11 9:44pm hellbilly13:

  Mon. 3/21/11 9:48pm Dan B:

  Mon. 3/21/11 9:49pm 12539:

  Mon. 3/21/11 9:56pm hellbilly13:

Sorry, didn't realize ... my apologies to you and the actual 12540! But that was the best MTB ever sounded!
  Mon. 3/21/11 9:58pm daniel:

what was that unholy racket?
  Mon. 3/21/11 10:12pm Lee:

Brenda Lee next, please.....
  Mon. 3/21/11 10:16pm Dan B:

Oops, that *was* Brenda Lee, not Peggy Lee, at the beginning. Damn LP was covered with a 7" to make it loop and I couldn't see what was on the label.
  Mon. 3/21/11 10:17pm SF Spike:

I have that Child's Cry album. Don't think I ever made it through the whole thing. A true nightmare of crying sick babies.
Mon. 3/21/11 10:24pm Richard from Venezuela:

Venezuelan band La Vida Bohème on twitter's birthday video.
  Mon. 3/21/11 10:32pm dave:

  Mon. 3/21/11 10:57pm Dan B:

Monday nights were MADF for me to kill them! @oldindiantim, see, that's why it's called Airborne EVENT.
  Mon. 3/21/11 11:13pm oldindiantim:

Amen to that -
  Mon. 3/21/11 11:15pm JJ:

You could have a show dedicated to nothing but Circle and they're so all over the place unsuspecting listeners might not know it's all the same band.
  Mon. 3/21/11 11:44pm Dan B:

@JJ, too true
  Mon. 3/21/11 11:48pm Ike:

Anybody have a recipe for spicy pickled radishes?
  Tue. 3/22/11 11:24am Christine:

never knew the secret to making a loop....
Thanks, Dan
  Wed. 3/23/11 3:00pm Looms:

When I went home today
And no one was there to play
Then I felt like listening to you
When I played the archive
Whispered love at the skies
And I just hanged around with you
Inside me I feel airborne and unreal
And the way you mix will always be
A very special thing to me.
(R.I.P. Syd B)

Great job, Mr. Bodah!
  Wed. 3/23/11 4:00pm Dan B:

@Looms, you are too kind, sir! Thanks! @Christine, I think it's just my own backwoods homegrown thing...never knew anyone else who did it that way -- I think the pros all have some other methodology, but I like the rawness and off-kilter rhythms that the 7" on 12" makes. Also, you can balance the 7" on the turntable spindle (or use one with a big hole) to move the 7" so it taps the needle back at just the point you want. Another thing is that the thickness or thinness of the 7" will affect how it hits the needle or the stylus and give a more or less consistent loop...sometimes the 7" will also shift a little over time and the loop will drift around a bit, which is nice.

Now does anyone have an idea of how to apply this technique to make a loop on a record player spinning *backwards?* Maybe I just need to carve out the inside of a 12", or use one of those frisbees shaped like a hollow circle...open to suggestions...
