Listener comments!

  3:11am
Marmalade Kitty:

Good morning Bill!
  3:12am
Bill Mac:

Morning MK! Here we are post marathon... I'm relaxin'.
  3:31am
Mike:

Mornin' Bill! Mike from Denver is diggin' your vibe tonight! Keep up the ye olde tunes! Bringing smiles to the overnight shift in Boulder CO!
  3:34am
Bill Mac:

Old is right Mike! Just gonna wander through music 40 years older and up! Hope it helps your evening fly a bit faster!
  3:38am
Mike:

It makes me feel like I'm sitting in some cooool all night cafe or windstream diner. Drinkin' coffee and waxing poetic.....havin' some toast. Thanks!!!! :-) P.S. I'm sure you've heard Hooker -n- Heat....great freakin' album!
  3:44am
Mike:

Weren't these guys on the Andy Griffith show jammin' with Andy? Or is that some other Hillbilly family?
  3:45am
Bill Mac:

I'm sure I do have it... I've become a bigger fan of canned Heat in recent years... and I guess I came to know Hooker towards the end of his career... he's got so much stuff! I'll have to check out the H&H album... yeah this is definitely a soundtrack to a different time & space than what we're used to... whatever hillbilly family this is I'd like to meet 'em!
  3:47am
Emile:

Hi Bill - it's a hoe down!
  3:48am
Mike:

You'll love H&H! It's filled with all kinds of studio talk goodies! Plus his guitar work and voice are otherworldly. He often sounds like two guitars....You got any Mississippi John Hurt? Is that the right name? Anything with Eefin' is grand! Rock on, I'll try not to bust your chops too much!
  3:53am
Bill Mac:

bust away brother! Mississippi John Hurt huh? I haven't heard him for a bit... gonna have to revisit him too. Yeah Hookers a favorite, especially on acoustic or solo.
  3:54am
Bill Mac:

Hey Emile! Yee haw!
  3:56am
Emile:

Love Bob Wills, just got turned on to him recently, and Tex Ritter even more.
  3:57am
Mike:

The H&H album has some of the most magical moments captured on tape. Gives me goosebumps. Absolute magic. Great headphone album....no, not earbuds...HEADPHONES brother! Big cans!
  3:59am
Bill Mac:

My follks had a Tex Ritters "High Noon" 45 that I listened to constantly back in the 60s..back then seemed that music wasn't as categorized as it is now...
  4:01am
Bill Mac:

Now I'm gonna hafta search that one out... didn't hooker do an album with the Groundhogs too?
  4:05am
Marmalade Kitty:

It's all too good!! :) Glad I caught the show today
  4:06am
Bill Mac:

Awesome MK! Glad you could make it
  4:08am
Mike:

Don't know about the Groundhogs. I'll have to look them up!
  4:10am
Mike:

Sounds cool! Thanks for the info!
  4:13am
Bill Mac:

Yeah the Groundhogs are the poop... didn't know anything about them until about 10 years ago myself.
  4:18am
Mike:

Ha! I remember that Peggy Lee song from that perfume commercial in the 80s!
  4:19am
Bill Mac:

I think the fragrance was called Enjoli... NOW you can bust on me....
  4:22am
M:

You looked that up cause I just did and you're right
  4:23am
Bill Mac:

I'm not proud of this.... but I didn't look it up....
  4:24am
Marmalade Kitty:

The marketing heads love those gender specific songs! That peggy lee song has been used to sell all kinds of rubbish!
  4:24am
Mike:

I can bring home the bacon...fry it up in the pan....and never let you forget your a man cuz i'm a woman...ENJOLI!!! Funny name for a fragrance...sounds like a car...
  4:28am
Bill Mac:

I would imagine more men remember that commercial than women.... MEE-OWW!!!
  4:30am
Bill Mac:

.... so I guess me and Mike don't have to worry about our masculinity too much then.... I was worried...
  4:31am
Marmalade Kitty:

.."womans own" magazine in th 70's 80's
W-O-M-A-N!
Muddy Waters I'm a MAN, has to be up there as well
  4:33am
Marmalade Kitty:

well at least you smell nice.. :) sorry
  4:34am
Bill Mac:

I recall that song making the rounds on several ads over the years... I thought it was one of those tunes that rose above the ad though... there using a Howlin Wolf tune for something too but I can't remember what it is...
  4:35am
Bill Mac:

Oddly enough, I'm not offended by that remark MK : p
  4:39am
Mike:

Let's start our own scent: Eau de Hooker Wolf. We'll have David Holmes do a mash-up of ye olde blues songs!
  4:43am
Mike:

Whatever happened with that collaboration between Tina and Ted Turner? ;-)
  4:46am
Bill Mac:

That qualifies as a Coalhard joke Mike.... here's a penalty card... although i do like the HW scent... you too can smell like a burning soul in Hell....
  4:51am
Mike:

I mean no disrespect to you or Tina. I like the HW scent slogan. It would be a great ad for Adult Swim late nite TV show.
  4:54am
Bill Mac:

I like it man! You can disrespect us as a couple but not individually....
  4:56am
Mike:

I'm all about the love, Bill! And a little off colour humor! That 5th D track reminded me of Pet Sounds. Do you like it? The box set reissue is off the chain! Tons of alternate takes, solo vocal tracks, instrumental tracks...great for any audiophile!
  5:00am
Bill Mac:

Another thing that I'm gonna be sorry that I've never listened to,,, people keep telling me to listen to it... we got it down here too, so there's no excuse.
  5:00am
Mike:

I love the programming at WFMU and all of the DJs are unique! BUT....your show always makes me wish I lived in NYC. I might try to get out there in Oct for the vinyl auction bash!
  5:02am
Bill Mac:

Let me know if you come out for it, I'll try and be there that day....
  5:03am
Mike:

Will do! My girlfriend has never been to NYC and I've only been once in the early 90s. I'd love to make it a special trip. Vinyl, WFMU, and all the greatness that is the east coast!
  5:09am
Mike:

Where did the Marmalade Kitty go?
  5:09am
Syl:

Hey Bill, great show! Up working late in San Francisco.
  5:10am
Bill Mac:

It's 5 am... she must be vacuuming... it's also nice in NYC in the Fall
  5:10am
Syl:

And hi to Mike too!
  5:11am
Mike:

Wow! Hello San Fran! I was just thinking about the Wharf today. Would love to have some crab legs and chowder right now, smelling the air....
  5:11am
Bill Mac:

Morning Syl... having a nice time listening to mellow and great tunes
  5:11am
Bill Mac:

You're killing me Mike,.. now I'm hungry
  5:11am
Marmalade Kitty:

I'm still listening here! :) Great show
  5:12am
Bill Mac:

Thanks MK.... thanks for tuning in everyone...
  5:12am
Syl:

We've got some high-steppin' seafood in SF for sure.
  5:12am
Mike:

Yeah Bill, I was in Manhattan in January of 1992. Went up to the top of the WTC, took some wide-angle photos...saw a David Letterman show, saw Les Mis....was awesome. I can only imagine how lovely it is there in the Fall!
  5:13am
Mike:

I'm hungry now too! I didn't bring any lunch.... :-( but breakfast is just around the corner I s'pose!
  5:14am
Bill Mac:

Never did the Letterman thing.... I think it would be a blast... I should get into NYC more often... I'm pretty much a Philly guy...
  5:15am
Mike:

Syl, I haven't been to west coast since 2002....man, that's too long. We hit Saus...Monterey...I was born in San Jose. I love it out there!
  5:16am
Mike:

How close is Orange to NYC and Philly? Pretty close I imagine.
  5:16am
Syl:

Oh wow! You're overdue for a visit, Mike! Back to the land of your birth.
  5:16am
Bill Mac:

I know you told me before mike, but where are you in Colorado?
  5:18am
Mike:

I live in Broomfield which is about 13 miles north of Denver. I "work" in Boulder.
  5:19am
Mike:

Yeah Syl. I've lived in Colorado since 1980! We went to my childhood home...it was a trip for sure!
  5:20am
Bill Mac:

Orange as in East Orange? Fisrt of all, Philly is about 90 miles from NYC... I don't notice the schlep all that much anymore... I would imagine that East Orange (where the transmitter is) isn't far from Jersey City (the studio location) but I have never been there so I don't really know... Boulder is still a big town... I would imagine it's amazing out there.
  5:23am
Mike:

Thanks for clearing that up. I always wonder how close everything is out east. I always brag about you guys and tell people that you broadcast from Jersey, but it reaches NYC...right? Is the vinyl show in NYC? I guess that's why I'm confused about where y'all are out there and where you actually broadcast from. Boulder is really beautiful. Great sunrises every morning when I leave work.
  5:23am
Syl:

Love! You're killin' me! Great set!
  5:24am
Bill Mac:

The record fair is conveniently located in NYC. Probably wouldn't be as popular if it wasn't.... yeah I figgered Boulder was like that....
  5:26am
Bill Mac:

Thanks Syl.... hadn't heard that one for awhile....
  5:26am
Mike:

Plus, according to Stephen King, it's the best place to go and regroup when the apocalypse hits....wow...I love gigantor theme....
  5:27am
Bill Mac:

Isn't that where they filmed the Shining?
  5:30am
Arnino:

It's mid morning in Turin, Italy. Your show is a rocket. Joe South, Electric Prunes and all... I will have to check out now, see whether the town is ready for another Berlusconi-Resign! demonstration. Thanks galore for your sounds... Bye!
  5:31am
Marmalade Kitty:

Just been reading a wiki article on Ted Turner, Interesting; It stated that he is a Philanthropist.. He has had a couple of run-ins with Rupert Murdoch -(Misanthrope), he has offered Murdoch outside, on two seperate occasions, for a fist fight!
Seems like an interesting fellow!
  5:32am
Bill Mac:

No problem Arnino! Send Berlusconi over here, someone will give him a reality show for sure!
  5:32am
Syl:

Arrivederci, Turin!
  5:33am
Bill Mac:

The Turner-Murdock fight made me laugh out loud!
  5:33am
Arnino:

LoL!!
  5:33am
Mike:

Kubrick shot the exteriors at the Timberline Lodge at Mt. Hood OR. The interior shots were recreated on a soundstage in England. King wrote the novel in the Stanley Hotel here in Estes Park. He apparently had some ghostly experiences whilst staying there with his family.
  5:37am
Mike:

You got it! You were quite close though. King was living in Boulder at the time! :-) You rock Bill!
  5:37am
Mike:

Ted Turner Overdrive!
  5:41am
Bill Mac:

Thank God for dumb luck!
  5:42am
Mike:

I love chiming in! I get a kick when I type something, and you talk about it 2 timezones away! It's truly a fun time! You know what they say about luck--if it weren't for dumb luck, I'd rather be golfing.........huh?
  5:45am
Syl:

The only other show I've ever commented on is Marty McSorley's. But when you asked for commenters, I just had to pipe up. I've been listening since the show started tonight and digging every minute.
  5:46am
Syl:

Even danced along for a while.
  5:47am
Bill Mac:

It is pretty cool.... I appreciate you feeding me stuff I can riff on I guess.... the computer is good to bounce off of but there's nothing better than a conversation... golfing huh? you'd disown me if you ever saw me golf.
  5:47am
Syl:

Sugar Shack really got me goin'.
  5:49am
Bill Mac:

Awesome Syl, I just sometimes like to know if anyone is awake at this time of the morning and more important what they're thinking at this time of the morning. It's a sociological experiment yeah thats the ticket....
  5:53am
Syl:

I totally remember the Enjoli commercials too. But my fave was "Kinda now, kinda wow -- Charlie!"
  5:56am
Syl:

G'night, all. Thanks for the show, Bill. Don't work too hard, Mike.
  5:58am
Marmalade Kitty:

This playlist has to be a contender for best playlist or something!! Really!
  5:59am
Bill Mac:

You guys...... I will see you soon god willing thanks for tonite.... twas a blast! Later MK!! Mike! Syl... until next week!
  5:59am
Marmalade Kitty:

Thanks :)
  6:13am
Mike:

  8:02pm
tahomajohn:
