No doubt, but you played that song even though you, and perhaps even WFMU and the bulk of the audience might not share such American triumphalism. Censorious political correctness can crop up, even in listener supported radio--and you didn't swing that way, so kudos. On a purely musical...note, oy...it adds spicy variety to the selections, so there you go, eh? Bravo. | |

You are most welcome, Therese, and if it makes your or anyone else feel better, I think that "Smoke on the Water" was written about World War II. I haven't heard the rest of the album, but I know some of his younger work. I remember when college friends first gasped upon hearing the Byrds' cover of "The Christian Life." You are made of stronger stuff. | |
