Options Bitslap with KBC: Playlist from December 14, 2010 Options

Back in 1979, I made the decision to accept Dr Demento as my personal savior. Since then, with the help of his apostles Spike, Al, Stan and Black-Eyed Susan Brown, I have made it my mission to spread the Gospel of the Firesign and the Word of the Waller. Please join me and my fellow seekers as we find the Wisdom we crave and the Rapture we deserve. A new sermon every Tuesday (and NO collection plate!).

Jimmy Barnes  OLD SAILOR'S XMAS   Options Jimmy is from Rockland, ME, where I hope to make my home soon. His website: http://www.realmainemusic.com/
Billy Fellows  12 DAYS OF XMAS   Options He's been around for ages, but for some reason I've never heard of him. His bio page: http://billyfellows.com/BillyFellows/Bio.html And he has an extensive discography: http://billyfellows.com/BillyFellows/Billy_Fellows_Discography.html
Michael Lynch  THAT'S WHAT XMAS IS ALL ABOUT   Options Another one I'd never heard of. Apparently I'm not alone, because I could not find him anywhere on the Interweb.
Music behind DJ:
Los Straightjackets
GROOVY OLD ST NICOLAS   Options The next set is from stuff I've gotten over the years from Fred Argenziano, a long-time listener and friend of WFMU whom I've been trading Xmas stuff with since the 90s. I couldn't contact him in time for the pod post, so I'm making an educated guess when I say he's the former drummer for the band Ed Gein's Car. He lives in brooklyn with his lovely wife Lynn and I think this is him on YouTube (on drums): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkxT_fP4Fkg Thanks Fred, and if you're out there, please get in touch at kbcradio@yahoo.com (that goes for the rest of you, too).
Red Peters  HOLY SHIT IT'S XMAS   Options Truly tasteless, but a guilty pleasure nonetheless. Here's his website: http://www.redpeters.com/ And a page for his Xmas stuff: http://www.oglio.com/webs/pages/artists/RedPeters_Christmas.shtml

Bobby Helms  CAPTAIN SANTA AND THE SPACE PATROL   Options It's the flip side of Helm's monster hit, Jingle Bell Rock. Don't believe me? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZr6opp4Dt0
Faye McKay  12 DAZE OF XMAS   Options Watch her in action here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjFMBsppBVc&feature=related

XMAS NIGHT IN HARLEM   Options The next set comes to us courtesy of Mark Rosen, of New Paltz, NY. Mark has sent me well over 100 CDs of high quality Xmas stuff in the 10 years or so that I've known him. He's a retired schoolteacher and lives an otherwise peaceful life. But on Xmas Eve, he does a five-hour show on WPDH in Poughkeepsie (which, unfortunatly, is not archived). Check this out: http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/article/20101224/COLUMNISTS11/12240304/Christmas-Eve-rocks-on-WPDH It is no exaggeration to say that I owe a lot of my continued obsession with Holiday Hilarity to Mark, since he sends me 43 pounds of it every year. Mark, I'm forever in your debt and I'll get you if it's the last thing I do. You can contact him at Mark45rpm@aol.com. Tell him KBC sent you.
Girl Trouble  SIGUE SIGUE XMAS   Options A serious mashup. Here's a Wiki about Girl Trouble: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girl_Trouble_(band) And here's more than you could possibly want to know about those other guys: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sigue_Sigue_Sputnik
Cheap Trick  XMAS XMAS   Options A Fan Club release for both of their fans. Here's a YouTube of their other Xmas song (which features a particularly disturbing group photo): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAEWxUwGxR8 Here's their website: http://www.cheaptrick.com/ Truth is they're one of my all-time favorite bands and it's hard to believe they've been at it for over 35 years and all mainstrem radio can find of theirs to play is "Surrender" and "I Want You to Plotz Me".
Vibeke   MISTLETOE KISSING   Options She's Vibeke Saugestad and here's her Wiki: http://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vibeke_Saugestad Her MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/vibekesaugestadmusic. And one more for good measure: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEkgAFMj9JE
