Hey Postman, John Grant's playing the Komedia in March. His show at the QEH the other night was magnificent. And hello to everyone else not in Brighton or London.
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:12am SheWolf:

Great set for a crap ass Monday.
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:13am ted:

A question for Liz and the listeners: Do you know who does that oft played recording of a grumpy old man complaining about rock n roll? Or what it is called? In the recording, someone else asks him to shut up.
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:20am tim:

Is part of the dialogue "Whatsa matter Joe? You got all these opinions and you can't even pick out a record?"
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:22am weed:

some great music this morning.
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:22am Maggie B.:

Could it be "The Old Philosopher" by Eddie Lawrence, Liz?
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:22am ted:

Thanks!
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:23am ted:

could be. Anyone have a link?
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:24am Parq:

Ted, perhaps you are thinking of Pseu's intro, which used to include a guy (Kim Fowley, was it?) ranting about the new scenesters and commenting "You probably think Jethro Tull invented rock and roll, or something stupid like that."
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:24am Maggie B.:

ooh, Ted, sorry, I thought for some reason it was Liz asking - anyway, is that correct?
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:25am postmanpaul:

Hi Adrian, thnx for the recommendation! He's new to me.
Neil Hannon was solo and refreshingly very British! Gotta go now.
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:25am Tom:

Hey Liz. Drink up now!

  Mon. 11/15/10 10:26am dc pat:

That's Joe Belock's intro from a movie w/ Peter Boyle. Can't remember the name.
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:27am Liz B.:

Ha ha, thanks for the link, Tom! I've got one can left, and I'm gonna save it to sell at a premium on the blackmarket...
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:27am Maggie B.:

Ted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9lPCs1S8S0
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:28am Tom:

Ha. I think I tried it but don't remember.
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:30am Parq:

No, DC, Magie's right, it was a bit similar to the Old Philo, in which one guy would crank on at length about the kids today, periodically muttering "rock and rollll" in disgust, and also peridiocially being interrupted by another guy saying, "Will -- you -- shut -- up!"
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:32am dc pat:

oh. Well the "what'samatta Joe?" bit comes from the movie called "Joe", http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_%28film%29
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:32am dc pat:

..I think...
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:34am Parq:

Liz, "KWESS-in", to rhym with West.
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:36am Parq:

"KWESS-kin", sorry.
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:53am tim:

Thanks DC Pat. I first heard that dialogue on the Cheapo Crypt sampler years ago and always wondered what movie it was from.
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:55am Maggie B.:

ah, the rated G version of Cee-Lo!
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:55am dc pat:

man...not usually my cup of tea here but this is hitting me just right.
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:56am Cobra Dan:

I was feeling the jamz until Cee-Lo
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:56am Mike East:

This guy's got a great voice...Gotta say the uncensored version has a better effect...still catchy though
  Mon. 11/15/10 10:58am still b/p:

Can a commenter please compose a single sentence with all the censored terms? Thank you.
  Mon. 11/15/10 11:01am PKNY:

This Charles Bradley record is dope, thanks for playing!
  Mon. 11/15/10 11:20am jan:

Yeah Cee Lo Green uncensored is brilliant. It is the final stage of the de-vulgarization of Fuck You. Being able to craft a hook from that expression is an achievement not soon equaled.
  Mon. 11/15/10 11:28am don:

missed it, but thanks liz! and good day! this holger hiller is facilitating a tapping foot and nodding head- the monotonous work pile doesn't look as disgusting with your help.
  Mon. 11/15/10 11:34am jb:

love this Nagamatzu
  Mon. 11/15/10 11:49am dc pat:

Dikes of Holland sounds excellent--another John from Oh Sees spin off?
  Mon. 11/15/10 11:55am dc pat:
