James Blackshaw keeps developing in exciting ways. And the guitaristas keep tearing him down. Love this track. Long may he roam!
|
Sun. 9/5/10 7:16am
Dan B:
@andy = Glenn Danzig is all sensitive, all the time.
|
Sun. 9/5/10 7:20am
Dan B:
@Tom, definitely not what is "expected" of Blackshaw -- his work on Young God has definitely taken a diff. direction. He's a young artist who made a big splash very early, and I'm sure we'll see a lot of growth from him over the years, given his prodigious creativity and talent. Which guitaristas keep tearing him down?
|
Sun. 9/5/10 7:29am
Tom L:
Not so much guitarists explicitly, but the press and guitar press who want to keep him where he was. He is young and given his virtuosity on his instrument, I think part of his audience won't let him move on. The same thing happened to John Fahey. All is Falling received a terrible review on Dusted. In my opinion, an agenda-driven (not well written) potshot. A few other reviews have indicated that the reviewer would rather hear more 12-string acoustic arpeggios. I think he's an exciting fellow to watch develop.

|
Sun. 9/5/10 8:14am

|
Sun. 9/5/10 8:15am
Lisa:
Keili has to listen to this guy. She would love him. You DJ types have to share the Japanese stuff!
|
Sun. 9/5/10 8:15am
Marco D Argento:
Sounds like the famous INDIE artest Tricky to me?
|
Sun. 9/5/10 8:18am
Lisa:
I went to an outdoor show yesterday and it was like a trip back to the 70s. All the kids were wearing funky hippy-type clothing and the music was totally psychedelic and funy. So much fun!
|
Sun. 9/5/10 8:18am
Rick:
Reminds me of 'Dolphins'
|
Sun. 9/5/10 8:18am
andy/s:
Every time a track starts with a drone like that I think it's Canned Heat :(
|
Sun. 9/5/10 8:20am
Marco D Argento:
It almost sounded like the song "poems" by "trickey" off his album pre-melinium tension
|
Sun. 9/5/10 8:22am
Marco D Argento:
BTW! Dan! You woke me out of a sound sleep with your music!
|
Sun. 9/5/10 8:24am
Dan B:
But it's been one of the mellowest mornings in recent history on this show!
|
Sun. 9/5/10 8:25am
Marco D Argento:
Try listening when you have a hangover!
|
Sun. 9/5/10 8:26am
Dan B:
But I *do* have a hangover!
|
Sun. 9/5/10 8:26am

I love the sun and it's nice and cool here in NYC. But right now I'm sitting in the bathroom in the dark!
|
Sun. 9/5/10 8:38am
Marco D Argento:
Anything! That will stop my head from pounding!!
|
Sun. 9/5/10 8:39am
Rick:
The ginger and pinapple, when crystalized, are better nibbled than gobbled-down fast and in a hurry.
|
Sun. 9/5/10 8:40am
Marco D Argento:
I happen to love pineapple!
|
Sun. 9/5/10 8:41am
Marco D Argento:

|
Sun. 9/5/10 8:41am
Rick:
So there you go! | |
|
Sun. 9/5/10 8:42am
Marco D Argento:
:-( may go back to sleep on the bathroom floor. I just can't make it to the bed:-(
|
Sun. 9/5/10 8:45am
Dan B:
@ Marco: Presumably you have the laptop on the floor with you? or your iphone? @ Lisa, finally, nice days in NYC. September seems to really break the misery of July/August.
|
Sun. 9/5/10 8:46am
Marco D Argento:

Hey Dan, hearing Hiragi was total treat. I'm sure you will play him again, but I need to put my vote in loud and clear. Thanks Dan, I don't know if it's the lime in the coconut or the ginger round pineapple or what...
