Chiming in late. Two hour trip to city turned into five. What traffic!. Driving isn't always what it's cracked up to be, Mo.

Glad to be here at last, though.
  7:40pm
dale:

today the fdr drive. tomorrow - the bqe!
  7:40pm
Irwin:

The day after, TWD.
  7:43pm
seang:

Hi DJ Monica, Hi all, Monica have you seen that movie, "Happy-Go-Lucky"--Mike Leigh movie--great/crazy driving lessons in that flik
  7:44pm
Ken in Denver:

I wish it were otherwise but here in suburbia there's really no choice but to drive. Unless you're very, very patient.
  7:44pm
phillyd:

For someone so fearless in all other regards, i suggest driving likewise (specially in NYC!) go ahead w/yo bad self girl!
  7:44pm
Windy City:

Be careful driving in those Tunnels!!!
  7:44pm
dale:

how about bob newharts' driving instructor bit? that would be perfect!
  7:44pm
Rachel D.:

I'm getting increasingly paranoid about having lost my driving skills while car-less at college -- especially if I stay out here in L.A. after school ends.... Glad to hear I'm not the only lapsed driver out there. Great show!
  7:46pm
seang:

Oh YeaHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
  7:48pm
Maggie B. in Rock Tavern:

Mo, I learned to drive at the ripe old age of 36 - you can do it girl! I'm originally from Manhattan, so I had about as much desire to do that as bungee jump off the Empire State Bldg. Then I moved to Satan Island where I finally broke down and got my license but never used it - until I move to the sticks of upstate where it's a pleasure to drive, mostly. Good luck with your new found ability!!!!
  7:55pm
monica:

CB1, happy to have ya here!...Dale, oh man - had one brief and terrifying moment on the BQE this week...Hi Irwin, what pray tell is TWD?... seang, never saw it, gotta check it out! thanks.... Ken in Denver, i hear ya, was no prob back in burbs of Chicago but NYC a whole other thang...PhillyD, you are so right, I've found that your menatl state/attitude has a LOT to do with it....Windy City, yes, this is why God made headlights...dale, ha, missed that one but funny enough my dad was in a theater company with bob newhart back in the dizzay... Rachel D., so happy to hear from a like-minded soul. I expect there are a lot of us out there....Maggie B. in Rock Tavern!! thanks for the love and support, lady!!
  7:56pm
listener gary:

DJ Monica! When we have 6 hours I'll tll you why I too quit driving. In the meantime, if you missed it last night check the archives for the Rob Weisberg show ...an hour of Latino music from CHICAGO!. Music like that could put that city on the map ...not that you aren't doing your part ...and doing it well.Especially liked the Evolution Quintet. Best ...
  8:06pm
dale:

monica - dad must have stories! driving around the city or going out to the lowes in jersey city is apain in the butt but driving can be wonderful - head out up into sussex county or out by the delaware water gap and just drive some back roads. you'll love it. just make sure you have a gps - well worth it.
  8:08pm
Matt:

Hi Monica! I need to know what that spooky song you always have playing in the background is. Please.
  8:12pm
Channeling CB2:

Mo,
In 'Bama - just pulled into the Taco place for dinner with high school friend and her mother. Already spent 2 hrs with them. Try to get out of it, Mama said I couldn't (and I DO still obey Mama) I'm so over it. Would much rather be listening to the Mo Show.,
  8:18pm
Irwin:

What? No Free Design tribute for Chris Dedrick (1948-2010)?
  8:19pm
Ike:

Agreed w/Dale about driving back roads. I still have a car for hiking, holidays, etc. but usually avoid driving in NYC. If/when I ever live in NYC, I might ride the train to NJ and rent a car there whenever driving (or Qns if E/NE-bound).
  8:26pm
CB1:

A great set. Lovin it.
  8:29pm
monica:

Listener Gary, you quit driving? But why (in six hours or less). heard part of Rob's show last night and it was terrif... dale, that is exactly my goal!...hi matt, that is "latin lover" by mastretta, e-z to find... Channeling CB2, claim food poisoning, it's the best way out of a sticky wicket... Irwin, will leave that to YOU!!....Ike, the highways and the byways sound better to me too...CB!, thanks, kiddo!
  8:33pm
seang:

Brainen played a Free Design song on Sat.--been obsessed with that show...
  8:37pm
MuttonChops:

Ever try a horse and buggy?
  8:38pm
Channeling CB2:

Unfortunately, the food poisoning will probably come AFTER the taco.
  8:38pm
Windy City:

That sounds like the best 8 mile drive ...EVER.
  8:39pm
Ken in Denver:

I assume the first thing to know about driving in NYC is to ignore lanes and turn signals. Aim at your target and GO!
  8:39pm
dale:

adventures in babysitting stole your life story!
  8:40pm
dale:

i'm embarrassed to know that movie
  8:40pm
seang:

Western Avenue, 26 miles of straight macadam-drag city baby...I done done it.
  8:40pm
MuttonChops:

Were a blindfold. It removes any anticipatory anxiety, but usually the rides are shorter.
  8:43pm
listener gary:

I always loved driving. i would think nothing of driving from NYC to Kansas ..nonstop. But about seven years ago i went through three red lights at six lane intersections. I said: Hey, the hand writing is on the wall: this machine is a weapon in the hands of a fool. So out of respect to y'all, I gave it up ...cold turkey.
Best
  8:44pm
dale:

my first drive into manhattan 1983ish to danceteria, home via the west side highway at 4am - hooker lifts her dress by the greyhound station and has a huge penis. true story.
  8:44pm
MuttonChops:

The good old days
  8:45pm
seang:

Neal Cassady taught me how to drive
  8:46pm
CB1:

Listener Gary,

And we all thank you kindly.
  8:47pm
CB1:

Dale, NYC was so much better in the 80's....
  8:49pm
listener gary:

  8:53pm
dave:

the ink spots and ella. there was never a more perfect combination.
  8:54pm
seang:

  8:54pm

  8:54pm
CB1:

  8:56pm
dale:

actually i and a couple of friends could sit on a stoop with a bottle of really cheap vodka for hours watching the scene if we were broke. that was just as good.
  8:56pm
BruceF:

Thanks for another great show Monica!
  9:01pm
monica:
