A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Morning Trouble and all. Great news: after 11 months unemployed I have been offered a job this morning so this will be the last chance I get to hear you live. This station, your show and Mr Drummer have kept me sane over what has been a difficult time for me... I couldn't donate last time you were raising funds but will send over some cash when I get my first pay check! Cheers Trouble!

Thanks Trouble, NGH and Tom, the dole is no fun but at least the lady I used to deal with treated me like a human being! I might buy her some sweets and a knitting magazine (she likes knitting). Hope things work out NGH - gonna crack open a beer and enjoy the show!
  Thu. 7/29/10 9:35am annie:

If I couldn't listen to you and your sounds in my cubicle, I don't know if I could even get out of bed on Thursday mornings. I get all weepy just thinking about what a life saver your show is. I can now make it through until Friday at 5. Whew.

KK- never tire of him.
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:02am Jennique:

Good morning Trouble! I saw some posts this week that made me think of you. First off is my re-discovery of Pierre Henry and Michel Colombier. I had listened to them in the early 90s and forgotten their zippy moog tunes. Here's a link to a wonderful 1960s fashion show on a Bateau-Mouche with their music in the background:

http://www.boingboing.net/2010/07/22/fashion-trippy-mid-s.html

Next off is "the king" Chris Christie deriding the Mtv show Jersey Shore.

  Thu. 7/29/10 10:04am Skirkie:

The line went across the street to CVS yesterday.
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:05am Mike East:

I think this may be the tragic day when my speakers die on me for good. As much as it pains me, I may need to buy new speakers for my work computer...I don't hold out much hope for my boss replacing these just so I can listen to the radio all day. Anyone know where I can get some good cheap computer speakers?
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:06am trouble:

good morning jennique! those sound fab! can't wait to see them both, obviously for 2 different reasons...
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:07am annie:

yard sales mike
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:09am Mike East:

Ooh - that's not a bad idea, Annie. This is the season for them. Good call.
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:10am amy:

mike east. i have a pair i'd mail to you- if i knew where that would be.
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:12am annie:

neato, i love how that works!
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:13am Alex:

@ Mike East

You can get the little JBL Duet speakers for about $50 well spent. Anything cheaper sounds like tin usually. They are the best cheap speakers I've found.
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:13am Mike East:

That'd be amazing! Email me. I'll give you an address and a UPS acct number. dictatoreast@gmail.com
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:16am Mike East:

Alex - I'd think about getting those for my home. Spending 50 bucks at work makes me feel like I'm paying my boss for workplace improvements.
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:21am Alex:

Yea, good point Mike.
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:30am Cheri Pi:

Jennique that fashion show link is fantastique!
Thu. 7/29/10 10:34am north guinea hills:

W/in the last year, i've curbed two pairs of computer speakers I found while cleaning out my apartment, one pair had never been used. If you're in the NYC area, this is the time to check for free stuff that's been curbed. I just found a stash of records and a nice table yesterday.
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:38am PMD:

I just thought I had frogs in the morning. Then I remembered who I was listening to.
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:38am ╬▓rian:

Trouble, did you read about songbird carnage in the New Yorker? At least your birds seem healthy.
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:38am v k:

Bose computer speakers keep my sane at work 50+ hrs a week - not best for home stereo, but i/m/o best for pc - link: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_018COMP2II/Bose-Companion-2-system.html?tp=252
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:39am Jennique:

Oh I have to agree with the seasonal theme there Trouble. I have memories of going to see dragstrip races in San Jose, California in the summer. Sea of Love is a great one too, despite that movie with Ellen Barkin and Al Pacino.
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:41am stu:

Morning Trouble great to listen from here in the neighborhood!. dreamy summer tunes thanx
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:53am trouble:

good morning stu!
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:54am zoot:

Martha and the Muffins! Hooray. After all, This is the Ice Age.
Thanks
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:54am Lucky:

That Crystal Castles song sounded awesome.
Thu. 7/29/10 10:54am listener james from westwood:

Oh, "Echo Beach"! I adore this lost little New Wave hit.
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:54am Phil Oakey:

How about playing my seminal 80's classic "Together in electric dreams"?
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:55am listener mark:

Good morning trouble.
Good morning everyone.
  Thu. 7/29/10 10:56am Alex:

Oh Martha. Excellent cut.
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:00am Jennique:

Dick Dale is a summer favorite of mine as well as Link Wray.
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:01am Skirkie:

My word, time has been elapsing entirely too fast during this show.
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:04am v k:

giving some props to an album i picked-up this week - Hush Arbors, Yankee Reality (ecstatic peace, 2008) - first heard of this band when Ben Walker played its best track, "One Way Ticket" (easily in my top 25) - i am really mesmerized by this album - a to z - and consider the frontman (Keith Wood) truly brilliant - like approaching Reid, Byrne, Yorke brilliant - also wondering if anyone else knows anything about this band - very little about it online
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:04am Carmichael:

Good morning Trouble. I see you have the good taste to play Martha and Her Muffins. One of my all-time favorites
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:08am Carmichael:

You're a good man, David ....
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:11am annie:

what a great song this is...
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:16am Jennique:

In my mind, this is the ONLY version of the song that matters. I love Stephens lyrics so much more than the original.
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:17am ?:

It is a good song, HOWEVER... "...where dreams are made of"? That kind of sucks.
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:17am listener mark:

steve colbert version. excellent, -- outstanding!
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:17am Carmichael:

@vk: go to the Allmusic site and look up Hush Arbors. There's a lot of info under each album (though there's not a formal group bio).
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:18am Jennique:

"These streets will make you feel brand new"
Eh, not so much lately.
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:19am seang:

here's my guilty pleasure: Vanessa Carlton's song A Thousand Miles--"If I could fall...--goosebumpsville
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:20am Ken:

Trouble, are you playing this Pomplaloose from youtube or has it been released?
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:20am Joe M.:

DJ Monica alerts us to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNfbX6uvA6s. Genius.
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:20am Mike East:

@? - That is a fantastic point. That makes absolutely no sense.
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:22am Andrew (?):

Yeah. Always kind of bugs me because it makes an otherwise great song seem incredibly dumb.
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:25am Mike East:

Yeah. It seems like there's enough ways to make that lyric make sense. It isn't even completing a rhyme, which is sometimes forgivable.
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:27am trouble:

ken, i have an mp3 of it, from a bloggggg
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:28am Jennique:

Love the reverb guitar on this.
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:33am Cecile:

just enjoying the tunes. Not chatty.
Thank God, right?
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:35am annie:

aahhh, there you are, over in the corner..
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:36am Carmichael:

I did NOT say that, Cecile ...
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:42am Cecile:

that's me in the spotlight.
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:45am Carmichael:

:)
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:52am Whisper:

This is all purely stochastic.
  Thu. 7/29/10 11:59am v k:

@Carmicheal - thanks for tip
  Tue. 8/3/10 10:12pm Michele:
