| Generator 1990, New York City. That year, Gen Ken Montgomery came into WFMU to talk about Generator (the first sound/music gallery which he curated at that time in the East Village) and the music, sounds and performances that were part of that world. Listening back to this interview, it reminds me of how vibrant and exciting culture and the arts scene in the East Village and NYC in general was prior to the big real estate feeding frenzy that followed in the 1990's... Ken brings an incredible amount of knowledge to this program, with a great sense of excitement and humor to what could easily be delivered with grim determination and pretentiousness. Gen Ken is still very active, but what if Generator were still with us... |
