I was being far too harsh, but that "Spag" track wasn't hiding its inspiration too well.

But the visual of deep-throating a Norelco was priceless at the time. Sucking a Sonicare seems more likely.

BSI:
hey wow. great stuff... seems like all (most) of my favorite LPs were recorded or released in 1971. Something amazing in the European water supply that year. Or something.

Hey, Fabio! Aw, I missed the Venture Bros. I got that for my husband's birthday. He was beside himself with joy. There's also Venture Brothers art on eBay for sale to benefit Lousiana coastlines.

@BSI: now that you mention it, I can think of a number of favourite albums from '71: "Pawn Hearts" by VDGG, "Nursery Crime" by Genesis, "Fearless" by Family, "Tarkus"... I could go on and on.

Chris: I think the Amon Duul 2 release from '71 was dance of the lemmings. But also the clear Faust LP, Hawkwind's X IN SEARCH OF SPACE, on & on, it was a totally perfect year for head music.

I had a hunch, and sure enough, the internet has confirmed that James Last's Voodoo Party was released in 1971. That says it all.

'71 was a pretty sweet year for American cars, too. At least design-wise.
|
Thu. 6/17/10 4:36pm

BROWN RICE by Don Cherry, another perfect '71 release. okay, I'll stop now....

@DCE: Hmm... I guess people from '71 are relevant. They are a form of "creative output" in the crudest sense.

And don't forget..the painful return of Kenny G!!! at 7pm after Clay. Huge event and will go down in history as one of the most painful times ever. Just one hour, though.

BSI: that's right!I didn't even think of the possible bantering between Clay and Kenny G between shows. It used to be for many years with Irwin and sometimes station manager Ken when the shows were kind of blocked together. So, maybe it would be a good idea to check in at the end of Clay's show as well this evening if anyone hadn't planned. So between Fabio's show, Clay's show, and Kenny G's show by god we have a great block of freeform time to enjoy!!!

Thu. 6/17/10 5:40pm

don: you will need the time during sinner's crossroads to repent for the evil from Kenny Gs show, Maybe a nap to spaz by during Dave's show.

(¸.•´ (¸.•[]`•.¸.•´¯`•:
Unfortunately I think Kenny G's show may be pre-recorded, at least tonight anyway, so no fun bantering between Clay Pigeon and KG. That would be a truly bizarre combo.
|
Thu. 6/17/10 5:51pm
don:
marq, that is certainly a valid way of looking at it. another option is to spend thursdays sleeping til 3, then staying up straight thru til JM in the AM. what you do then is between you and god.
|
Thu. 6/17/10 5:58pm
minnesota jeff:
What type of show is JM in the AM? I have no way of hearing it.
|
Thu. 6/17/10 6:00pm
marq:
Oh no. Is Kenny G doing a remote show? WTF. Clay used to do a remote show now he's in the studio. Maybe this is some sort of big joke on us all?!!
|
Thu. 6/17/10 6:01pm
(¸.•´ (¸.•[]`•.¸.•´¯`•:
Jeff, it has its own 24-hour stream because there's virtually no overlap between free-form listeners and JM listeners. That's why they created those web-only 6-9 a.m. shows a few years ago, but JM is still on the FM frequencies at 6-9 a.m.
|
Thu. 6/17/10 6:04pm
(¸.•´ (¸.•[]`•.¸.•´¯`•:
Oh and it's a Jewish religious show, I think, but their music is not as entertainingly horrific as it used to be.
