Feeling strengthified already.

Robbed of a full Mr. Giant Man! Argh!
Thu. 6/17/10 3:11pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

yeah, that Giant Man got he leg cut off
  Thu. 6/17/10 3:14pm minnesota jeff:

What is playing right now?
  Thu. 6/17/10 3:18pm minnesota jeff:

This tune makes the tornado watch we are in all the more unsetteling.
  Thu. 6/17/10 3:21pm BSI:

me love unsettling.

quick translation - ephemera 1: what is the computer good for?
Thu. 6/17/10 3:32pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

failure to google
  Thu. 6/17/10 3:45pm minnesota jeff:

Sooooo, they wanted to use Ennio Morricones score but couldn't afford it so just ripped them off?
  Thu. 6/17/10 3:53pm Harvey:

now now
  Thu. 6/17/10 3:53pm Nat:

Go Team Venture!
  Thu. 6/17/10 3:56pm minnesota jeff:

I was being far too harsh, but that "Spag" track wasn't hiding its inspiration too well.
  Thu. 6/17/10 3:58pm Happy Listener:

Sounds like someone's gargling an electric razor, I love it!
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:00pm minnesota jeff:

I am guessing Electric Toothbrush.
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:01pm Happy Listener:

But the visual of deep-throating a Norelco was priceless at the time. Sucking a Sonicare seems more likely.
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:11pm BSI:

hey wow. great stuff... seems like all (most) of my favorite LPs were recorded or released in 1971. Something amazing in the European water supply that year. Or something.
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:22pm Cecile:

Hey, Fabio!

Aw, I missed the Venture Bros. I got that for my husband's birthday. He was beside himself with joy.

There's also Venture Brothers art on eBay for sale to benefit Lousiana coastlines.
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:29pm Happy Listener:

@BSI: now that you mention it, I can think of a number of favourite albums from '71: "Pawn Hearts" by VDGG, "Nursery Crime" by Genesis, "Fearless" by Family, "Tarkus"... I could go on and on.
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:31pm ?:

Tago Mago too, I believe
Thu. 6/17/10 4:31pm Chris from DC:

Isn't Yeti from '71 as well?
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:32pm Happy Listener:

Dunno, but Yes' "Fragile" is from '71.
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:32pm BSI:

Chris: I think the Amon Duul 2 release from '71 was dance of the lemmings. But also the clear Faust LP, Hawkwind's X IN SEARCH OF SPACE, on & on, it was a totally perfect year for head music.
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:33pm ?:

I had a hunch, and sure enough, the internet has confirmed that James Last's Voodoo Party was released in 1971. That says it all.
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:33pm BSI:

oh, and of course Cluster '71, which made me what I am today...
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:34pm Happy Listener:

@?: It sure does.
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:35pm Fabio:

James LAst has always been on the cutting edge...
Thu. 6/17/10 4:35pm Chris from DC:

Quite right BSI, Tanz der Lemminge it is. There were a couple of Taj Mahal Travellers albums I know.
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:35pm Happy Listener:

'71 was a pretty sweet year for American cars, too. At least design-wise.
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:36pm BSI:

BROWN RICE by Don Cherry, another perfect '71 release.
okay, I'll stop now....
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:38pm still b/p:

...Among the LAST years for strong US car design.
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:38pm Happy Listener:

1971 was also the last year that Chrysler would offer the 426 Hemi in production vehicles.
Thu. 6/17/10 4:40pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

my sister was born in June of '71. She is not, however, very cool.
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:43pm Happy Listener:

@DCE: Hmm... I guess people from '71 are relevant. They are a form of "creative output" in the crudest sense.
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:44pm Happy Listener:

I prefer '69 through '72 vintage people, personally
Thu. 6/17/10 4:44pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

I'm a '68 myself. I have less emissions equipment.
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:45pm Happy Listener:

I'm a '72, they put an EGR on me.
Thu. 6/17/10 4:46pm Dead Corporate Eyes:

probably makes it hurt a little when you pee
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:46pm Happy Listener:

...and a Lean Burn system, lol.
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:46pm Happy Listener:

it actually quenches my... never mind.
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:46pm BSI:

'68 represent. The year the LOVE died. Word.
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:56pm don:

a quick look at the front of my record collection reveals: george harrison's concert for bangladesh, and zz top's first album, 1971! bo hansson's lord of the rings: 1972, darn. ....yeah, i really wanted to join the conversation.
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:57pm marq:

And don't forget..the painful return of Kenny G!!! at 7pm after Clay. Huge event and will go down in history as one of the most painful times ever. Just one hour, though.
  Thu. 6/17/10 4:57pm still b/p:

I'm a '58 and I've got ever-lovin' effin' FINS, baby!
  Thu. 6/17/10 5:00pm BSI:

marq: I'll be happy-hour-ing but will surely be back to the archives to slurp up that Clay/Kenny G block. GOD how i selfishly wish fabio/clay/KG were all during the workday (EST)...
  Thu. 6/17/10 5:00pm Cecile:

I'm 1961 and Trane's My Favorite Things came ou my year.
  Thu. 6/17/10 5:01pm Cecile:

  Thu. 6/17/10 5:01pm Looms:

What's the first rec released in 1971 in the library here? ... Pink Floyd's Meddle.
  Thu. 6/17/10 5:08pm marq:

BSI: that's right!I didn't even think of the possible bantering between Clay and Kenny G between shows. It used to be for many years with Irwin and sometimes station manager Ken when the shows were kind of blocked together. So, maybe it would be a good idea to check in at the end of Clay's show as well this evening if anyone hadn't planned. So between Fabio's show, Clay's show, and Kenny G's show by god we have a great block of freeform time to enjoy!!!
  Thu. 6/17/10 5:13pm don:

...and then take a nap so you can stay up all night for william and marty.
  Thu. 6/17/10 5:40pm marq:

don: you will need the time during sinner's crossroads to repent for the evil from Kenny Gs show, Maybe a nap to spaz by during Dave's show.
  Thu. 6/17/10 5:49pm (¸.•´ (¸.•[]`•.¸.•´¯`•:

Unfortunately I think Kenny G's show may be pre-recorded, at least tonight anyway, so no fun bantering between Clay Pigeon and KG. That would be a truly bizarre combo.
  Thu. 6/17/10 5:51pm don:

marq, that is certainly a valid way of looking at it.
another option is to spend thursdays sleeping til 3, then staying up straight thru til JM in the AM. what you do then is between you and god.
  Thu. 6/17/10 5:58pm minnesota jeff:

What type of show is JM in the AM? I have no way of hearing it.
  Thu. 6/17/10 6:00pm marq:

Oh no. Is Kenny G doing a remote show? WTF. Clay used to do a remote show now he's in the studio. Maybe this is some sort of big joke on us all?!!
  Thu. 6/17/10 6:01pm (¸.•´ (¸.•[]`•.¸.•´¯`•:

Jeff, it has its own 24-hour stream because there's virtually no overlap between free-form listeners and JM listeners. That's why they created those web-only 6-9 a.m. shows a few years ago, but JM is still on the FM frequencies at 6-9 a.m.
  Thu. 6/17/10 6:04pm (¸.•´ (¸.•[]`•.¸.•´¯`•:

Oh and it's a Jewish religious show, I think, but their music is not as entertainingly horrific as it used to be.
  Fri. 6/18/10 6:22pm Lenny:

.....so good to hear from Bill Dixion!!!!!
  Mon. 7/5/10 9:34am D in Miami:
