Melvins are in my top five, never mind top 200! And Honky is a bit of an underrated album.

@Andy, Honky's a weird one, too. I like the weird ones...though that might include 97% of Melvins records. I just love how they take all the standard moves and mess around with them.

yeah! And write amazing songs while they're at it. The new album is great. Check out the first track from it if you haven't yet. There's some great 'why are they doing this?!' style messing around in that one!

I'm with you on Pauline Oliveros Dan... I was originally turned on to her back in my college days in the 1980s at University of Michigan radio station WCBN, thanks to the Lovely Music releases that came into the station... the label that taught me that avant garde music (pardon the term but you know what I mean) could be beautiful!

Yeah, Pauline is a completely unique person in music. She's done so many things, but she has always had this joy underlying all her avant garde moves that hardly anyone else ever brings to this kind of music

@Looms 'Honky' is a good Melvins album to start with but really you can't go wrong. Don't listen to 'Prick' or 'Colossus of Destiny' first though, they might put you off forever!

I thought the Tony Conrad track was pretty joyful, sort of reminded me of Vibracathedral Orchestra a bit. Of course he's been doing that stuff much longer by the looks of things. I love how it all links back!

@Dave E - for more accordion from Pauline on the recently-reissued "The Wanderer." I also love her collab with Randy Raine-Ruesch on the Driftworks boxset. Also you have to check out some of her early electronic and tape works, many have recently been reissued
