  10:18am
bobw:

MMM - i think that they're anglo. in any event, they emailed me from the playlist page, but didn't include an email address, so... i emailed them from their myspace page. nothing back yet.
  10:18am
Cecile:

Hi, all!

I am now completely addicted to TVOne's docu series, Unsung. It's about RnB stars who had commercial success, but are still underrated. And yes, I sniffled at the end of the Minnie Riperton episode. And the Zapp one.
  10:22am
dc pat:

WHOA! MISSING FOUNDATION!!!

  10:33am
Ne-guh-tor:

Ahhhh... the much maligned 'Manifesto'! To some Roxy's last record, to me, a new beginning. Has anyone heard about their new record with Eno that was supposed to come out last year?
  10:35am
bobw:

how much do you hate/love this one? and there is no bad roxy music!
  10:37am
Cecile:

I don't think there's bad Roxy music. There's boring Roxy music. But Dance Away is nice.
  10:39am
Cecile:

@bobw

Not Zappa. Zapp and Roger.
Like More Bounce to the Ounce or Dance Floor or I heard it through the Grapevine.
  10:40am
Ne-guh-tor:

I LOVE LOVE this one! I said the EXACT same thing last Fri to a friend, "Roxy Music is a band that may have never recorded a song that was unlistenable!" Bach wrote tons of boring music and some of it is my favorite. It is just for music's sake that I like a lot of stuff. Some of my friends just never made the 'Avalon' leap, though.
  10:43am
dc pat:

Hmm, definitely agree that Roxy wrote boring music but I'm not sure I can agree with Bach having done that....course I definitely haven't heard everything he wrote.
  10:43am
amberto:

i enjoyed that spandeau ballet song!!! it's good for people who hate fun to be subjected to it every once in a while.
  10:46am
krebstar01:

Do the transeurope express comps also count as Volume Compilations?
  10:47am
dc pat:

to each his own amberto. Golden Triangle is fun to me.
  10:49am
bobw:

i really got interested in roxy because of avalon. mtv, in its early days, would play the "avalon" video. i was intrigued. i ended up buying some roxy LPs in the cut out bin at strawberry's. then i was hooked. and, oddly enough, the frip/eno collaboration got me into eno. i think that i bought "pussy footing" because there was a song called "swastika girls" on it, and i just HAD to find out what a song called "swastika girls" would sound like!
  10:51am
Bad Ronald:

You're killing it today bobw!
  10:51am
Cecile:

VAN HALEN

I was older, but I liked Avalon, and was glad it brought people back into the fold. It kept the older records in print.
  10:53am
Ne-guh-tor:

I was 16 when I found Roxy and Avalon had just come out, but really, I learned of them from all my Nite Romantic folks talking about Roxy and how big an influence they were on them. Yes, I wore alot of makeup back then.
  10:54am
bobw:

wow. i made a long post. hungover. still. all the trance europe/america express, et al are all VOLUME. i'm feeling like scott wms with this VH nugget!
  10:54am
Ne-guh-tor:

My nickname in school was 'Captain Faggot'!
  10:55am
Ne-guh-tor:

That's how much I loved glam.
  10:56am
Cecile:

@bw, that's a good person to feel like, IMO.

Aw, ne-guh-tor, the prophet is never respected in his homeland.

Anyway, off to a boring meeting.
  10:56am
Edley:

Hell yeah! Salem 66. One of my favorites and so often overlooked. Thank you for playing this!
  10:58am
Ne-guh-tor:

Don't worry, Cecile, the ladies treated me especially nice and many of the boys would have, too ;) Enjoy the boredom!
  11:13am
dc pat:

man, sounds like Camille's saying all kind of dirty stuff....
  11:17am
Ne-guh-tor:

Bob your show today is the reason I dropped the mouse a coupla weeks ago! Thanks.
  11:18am
bobw:

everything sounds dirty en francais!
  11:21am
Lizardner Dave:

Great show today Bob!
  11:29am
emily waters:

listen to duets of Conway and Loretta Lynn. "Mississippi Man/Louisiana Woman"
  11:35am
bobw:

last week it was "louisiana woman, mississippi man!" a possible song for next year's hoof and mouth... i watched a bit of "dewy cox" last night. pretty funny. "let's duet." i didn't get that until after the song ended.
  11:42am
dc pat:

I just realized that Weddog tune doesn't have any guits in it. The singing is covering the whole high end, pretty cool.
  11:43am
chance:

This is what I needed on a Monday Morning.
  11:48am
slugluv1313:

  11:54am
slugluv1313:

  11:59am
bobw:

  12:46pm
