Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from February 2, 2010 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

  3:35pm
BT:

  3:40pm

  3:46pm
bt:

  3:49pm
numbatwombat:

always down for some muslimgauze! in a dharma-hole; please play more eccentric italian doom metal! that stuff has ruled since there has been metal. no matter when it was made it all sounds completely melodramatic and decrepit simultaneously.
  3:58pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

maybe she'll do a live version of KISS KISS KISS.
  3:59pm
dc pat:

WHAT?! No Ringo? Forget it...
  4:09pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

oof!
  4:09pm
Cecile:

aw, brian, that's great.
Wonder if we'll see her on the comments page? That would be CRAZY

@numbatwombat, much like a run-down bordello.
  4:09pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

the dread VD!
  4:11pm
Cecile:

this is corny, but it sure taught me a lot when I was a tadpole.
  4:14pm
maria:

somewhat back a ways I almost thought I heard echoes of the dirty duck. Dirty duck does doom,, hmm an interesting concept.
  4:22pm
north guinea hills:

i enjoyed that Clubroot, too bad my earbuds at work don't have any drops.....
  4:52pm
jason:

yes yes yes yes!
  4:56pm

  4:58pm
Cecile:

Brian, could you slide some early Scientists in there?
  5:01pm
Pat in Philadelphia:

Holy Moley! Who is Hiiragi Fukuda? And how the hell can I get my hands on him/them?!
  5:04pm
Chris:

@Pat http://www.myspace.com/hiiragifukuda - i heard the track before and went a-lookin'
  5:05pm
BT:

Hey Pat, guitarist of Doronco Gumo, Japanese band that was reissued on Holy Mountain. try info@holymountain.com for some leads on this Hiiragi disc.
  5:07pm
Pat in Philadelphia:

Thanks Chris and BT. Fantastic show as usual!
  5:11pm
Chris:

I am convinced that WFMU deliberately plays music that causes cats to become curious
  5:12pm
Cecile:

Yay! The Sweet!
  5:12pm
Carmichael:

Woo Hoo! Fist in air!!!
  5:13pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Is it just me or is this song going slower than usual?... I wouldn't be surprised if it was just me.
  5:15pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

By "this song" I meant "Fox on the Run"
  5:15pm
Martha H.:

Slayed! - awesome -
  5:16pm
Chris:

Is it me, or is Brian a little wacky?
  5:16pm
Carmichael:

Thank you for playing the original and definitive version of Noise.
  5:19pm
Bad Ronald:

killer set BT!!!
  5:20pm
Cecile:

Sparks. I need to hear Sparks.

Dude. Death on 2 Legs.
  5:21pm
DAF:

Is this spinning just a touch too slowly, or is it my internets?
  5:21pm
Bad Ronald:

nah, it's Brian...
  5:21pm
brrock:

@del Formaggio:
@DAF
nope, it's happening to me as well
  5:22pm
frisky spike:

I'm glad you're dredging the greatest hits of my youth, but this really is going too slow!
  5:22pm
Carmichael:

I need to hear Spinal Tap. Diva Fever would fit so well in this set ....
  5:22pm
DAF:

Sounds cool, though...

And why the difficult math questions? I ain't no human calcutta
  5:22pm
brrock:

hendrix 'easy rider' has that same draggy sound without any slowing
  5:23pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

This is reminiscent of my early 20s. Similar music, similar effect from the nitrous oxide then, not sure what's causing the slowness now but I like it.
  5:23pm
Cecile:

Play the whole side of Night at the Opera. I dare you.
  5:24pm
DAF:

I suppose 'Prophets Song' would be a touch too indulgent...
  5:25pm
maria:

I lurvve this version of MQ!
  5:25pm
Chuck E. Jesus:

hey man, i was singing along to "lazing on a sunday afternoon"...
  5:25pm
Chris:

Great version (miss queen)!!!
  5:25pm
Carmichael:

Maybe the "and a 1/3" got rounded down.
  5:25pm
DAF:

Wow I feel as if I'm right there... and I am!
  5:25pm
brrock:

@DAF
Prophet's song was like the best thing in the world when I was 9
  5:27pm
Cecile:

andnowIknowandnowIknowandnowIknow....
  5:27pm
Carmichael:

I use this line all the time when discussing concerts: "There was a group called the Jokers, they were laying it down!"
  5:27pm
DAF:

It's like Rick Derringer is giving a concert for those apes from the beginning of '2001'...
  5:29pm
Wooderson:

guilty! (answer to question "did somebody say keep on rocking?")
  5:32pm
Cecile:

Hellmouth and McNeil
  5:33pm
Chris:

i tried googling the band Glubbb bzzzgb fttt fffrtt but nothing came up.What gives?
  5:33pm
Carmichael:

Brings a new meaning to the word "medley" ....
  5:35pm
Cecile:

hey carm, your chicken recipe is a hit on one of my bulletin boards!
  5:37pm
Carmichael:

Glad to hear it, Cecile. I just made it Sunday night. It's become a household standard.
  5:39pm
Cecile:

it's a winner. For sure.
  5:40pm
Carmichael:

Winner winner chicken dinner.
  5:41pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

OK, I wanna know about this winner chicken dinner. Is there a link to the recipe, Carmichael?
  5:44pm
Glenn L:

Getting hungry.
  5:47pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Pissed Jeans didn't just ROCK the stage, they barfed on it, too!
  5:51pm
Carmichael:

It's a crockpot recipe for chicken tacos. 1 pound or so of boneless chicken thighs, a jar of mild or medium salsa, a couple of smashed-up cloves of garlic, some water and chicken broth, and a few chopped chipotle peppers (the kind in sauce in a can). Tuirn it on when you leave for work, turn it off when you get home.

It pulls apart, like pulled pork. Invite friends over to indulge.
  5:53pm
Glenn L:

Thanks, Carmichael!
  5:54pm
Chris:

It's funny as heck when a band member pukes during a set.
  5:54pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Thanks, Carmichael. It sounds really good. I will cook it for friends. I like feeding my friends, as some know :-)
  6:01pm
Bad Ronald:

I believe it's mandatory for members of Pissed Jeans.
  9:39pm
m eggplant:

thanks for the play. i really like that track.
