Playlist for Irene Trudel - October 26, 2009

Mondays 3pm - 6pm on WFMU 91.1 fm 90.1 fm wfmu.org

Music floating on calmer seas is "netted" by my ears and released to the hungry listeners. It's a stringy catch, but frequently live and always delectable.

Live performance by Misty Roses (Robert Conroy with Greg Fassolino & Jonny Perl via .wav file)

- With a nod to the musical past, Misty Roses takes pop melodrama to modern heights. Their combination of electronic textures overlaid with a cinematic sense of musical storytelling reminds you somewhat of 60's icons like The Zombies and The Association. The group is based in both Britain and the U.S. but they converged for a rare performance in Jersey City for a live WFMU performance.

Mina Springfield?!?

Mon. 10/26/09 5:40pm From: Daniel

Se telefonando - LOVE that song, total drama! But I think it might be more of a breakup song, no? My Italian is bad, but : "If I could tell you goodbye by calling you, I would call". . .

Mon. 10/26/09 5:47pm From: postmanpaul

robert - i'm impressed that you are familiar with our very own crooner matt monro!!! i've often likened devine comedy's Neil Hannon to matt monro on acid!
scott walker trips a fine line too... i must have been the sole uk purchaser of 'climate of hunter'!

Yeah, Je changerais d'avis is totally different - but maybe even better-suited to Mina's style than Hardy's.

Mon. 10/26/09 5:57pm From: postmanpaul
