Listener comments!

  9:14am v k:

kudos on the Yusef program - listened no less than 5x - perhaps the finest wfmu listening experience i've had - thank u
  9:17am Drummer Some:

@v k
Wow! Your comment makes me really happy. Spreading the Yusef love is one of my greatest pleasures. Thanks
  9:19am Sirone RIP:

From Downtown Music Gallery email today: "Just AS we're about to send out our newsletter this Thursday night, we have become saddened to learn of the passing of Norris Jones, better known as Sirone, the great jazz double bassist [Revolutionary Ensemble, Cecil Taylor, Pharoah Sanders, Sonny Sharrock, Marion Brown, et al], who befriended us here at DMG in this past decade"
  9:24am m:

Doug, did you know your playlist is not showing up on the WFMU home page? It still shows the last song played on HotRod's show.
  9:25am annie:

m, i just noticed, too; was waiting for the changeover, just now came in through the back door.. morning doug!!
  9:29am Glenn L:

Try this - must to click "change playlist info," and "live show"

Old instructions from DJ Bryce - hope this helps.
  9:30am annie:

and soupy sales?? ....
  9:34am Drummer Some:

Not sure whappen, but the playlist update thingy seems to have tipped back onto its wheels. Vrroom.
  9:54am Matt Madden:

Great set. i'm going to have to look in to Mauro and Bosco...
  9:58am Cecile:

Hi/bye! I wanted to wish everyone a happy Friday!
and happy Birthday (yesterday) to my husband, 50 years young)

that's sad about Sirone. I love the Revolutionary Ensemble.
  9:58am Joab:

What was the Earl for Electric Jive? I can't find it on the Innernets!
  10:03am Drummer Some:

Electric Jive here:

  10:11am fred:

Echoing vk, last week's show was just great, and it's such a good idea to spend a whole show on someone who is very much alive.
And in yet another reason to rejoice in the station ditching realaudio, this particular archive will now be my answer to anyone who asks "who?" when I talk about him. I got too many of those last week at work when explaining why I was too busy to take a break.
  10:12am chris:

Great to hear that electricjive is reaching out like this - thanks Doug for sharing our shares further - wfmu is sending lots of visitors to our site ... chris @ electricjive
  10:13am fred:

Oops, I meant the Yusef show, not last week's show.
  10:17am Drummer Some:

The number playing right now (The Cliffs w/Mankunku) is posted on my Mining the Audio Motherlode post from this week on the WFMU blog, along with a brief remembrance of the brilliant Winston Mankunku Ngozi. See it here:

  10:19am GP:

Finally getting to listen early enough to enjoy some of the show.
Hi Doug and everyone.
  10:22am annie:

crazy morning here, gp, the pup has to be still from her spaying surgery, but the neighbor dog wants to visit.. lots of in and out of the house. nice to come back in to the calming tunes of drumsome!!
  10:39am Parq:

I'm deaf this week, can't get my puter to play stream, but logging on in silence to say Happy BD to Cecile's sweetheart. I had that prob with the playlist too, I was afraid it was just me, coz Doug was talking about the comments he was getting. Ugh. And no coffe this AM.
  10:39am Stuart Troutman:

Great show today, Doug.
  10:42am Chris:

Yeah, having a lot of trouble waking up today but this is helping.
  10:44am annie:

parq, i'm surprised you are even lucid and typing with no caffiene!..
  10:52am dc pat:

  10:57am north guinea hills:

  11:08am PMD:

this song is making me cry...
  11:09am PMD:

Oh, Doug, I referred my brother to the Yusef show, and he had just bought a Yusef album a week or two before, so he was happy to see it.
  11:09am dc pat:

GP, annie: Yessir, she's a keeper. Thanks.
  11:10am dc pat:

annie; final party of the absinthe tour? are you hallucinating yet?
  11:13am annie:

ahhh, pat.....'t'were it so.... the type of absinthe i drink is not hallucinagenic.. simply a very pleasing flavour.. the absinthe tour is done.. ... there will be others, as i think she likes my rapport with the crowds.
  11:13am Studio A CCTV:

wait a minute Dougie - was that an MP3 posng as a single?
  11:14am Parq:

I couldn't take it any more so I went out and bought a large coffee. And when I get back, hey presto, the stream is working! I'll never try to do without coffee again.

Congrats to Pat on your smartie. Now she can make a bundle of money and you can live off her.

DrumSum, you have all this on 45s? I am awed and humbled.
  11:15am Drummer Some:

@Studio A CCTV
Not participating in the SINGLES GOING STEADY extravaganza this time. (Much of what I'm playing usta be singles. Does that count?)
  11:17am dc pat:

thanks Parq. Somebody will have to make money around here...
  11:19am Jacob:

dang, everyone got real quiet hear at the office during the Karen Dalton song! incredible.
  11:19am Parq:

  11:21am still b/p:

If I could use a miracle just now, should I get a cup of Lourdes water or of coffee?
