Wed. 9/30/09 12:02pm From: mb

Hola, Maria. Funny weather hear in North Jersey today. As you were..

Wed. 9/30/09 12:03pm From: trent

this is a great start to a great show

Wed. 9/30/09 12:04pm From: north guinea hills

Annie, I finally found 5 ladybugs for my indoors jalapeno plants that were infested w/ aphids, but that all ran away w/o partaking in the feast. luckily, a spider took about 1/4 of the aphids. also, vinegar and water worked a bit. thanks again.

Wed. 9/30/09 12:08pm From: annie

ngh: great you could stem it! sorry the ladies flew.. i found a few roaming around my garden, but they would have missed their jobs here.. next year, you can buy them refrigerated... keep them cool till you want them, then let them loose in the garden.. lots of places sell them... and praying mantis egg sacs too

Wed. 9/30/09 12:09pm From: dc pat

ngh: you can also make a soap spray out of a little dish soap and water. Stops 'em in their contemptible tracks...

Wed. 9/30/09 12:09pm From: Maria

yes, please-- any gardening advice most welcome here. How about repotting an outdoor tree? Now or in the Spring?

Wed. 9/30/09 12:10pm From: LizGig

Good evening Maria! Thank you again for brightening my day!

Wed. 9/30/09 12:11pm From: north guinea hills

Thanks Annie & dc pat, every time the plants flower, the aphids destroy the flowers, so, i've yet to have any of the plants fruit.

Wed. 9/30/09 12:13pm From: annie

outdoor tree? deciduous? how big? what kind//

Wed. 9/30/09 12:16pm From: annie

Wed. 9/30/09 12:17pm From: maria

Wed. 9/30/09 12:20pm From: Harvey

Wed. 9/30/09 12:21pm From: annie

Wed. 9/30/09 12:24pm From: zoot

So nice to hear Dory Previn. Wonder how she's doing....

Wed. 9/30/09 12:24pm From: Cecile

Sorry - I meant delete the comment where my email address was in the place of my screen name. I need to use my words today...

Wed. 9/30/09 12:24pm From: LizGig

No stream problems here. I'm using the 20k Windows stream.

Wed. 9/30/09 12:26pm From: dc pat

lo-fi 32k stream always reliable...

Wed. 9/30/09 12:26pm From: trent

the itunes / probably 128k mp3 stream seem to be down - but i'm using the flash player and it's fine.

Wed. 9/30/09 12:26pm From: doron

anyone still having stream issues?

Wed. 9/30/09 12:28pm From: BSI

I still can't get 128 MP3 to stream.
...have been making do with 32k.

Wed. 9/30/09 12:31pm From: annie

just got it back on 128...oops, well... we shall see just cut out and came back

Wed. 9/30/09 12:32pm From: annie

doron, my situation is not normal, i usually use winamp.. not at home and using someone's mac.

Wed. 9/30/09 12:36pm From: doron

annie: is itunes not working for you?

Wed. 9/30/09 12:36pm From: BSI

I use the 128 stream on the same mac every day, never gives me a licko trouble, so I'm not bitchin' too badly. As long as it comes back eventually...!

Wed. 9/30/09 12:39pm From: doron

bsi: are you saying it isnt working now?

Wed. 9/30/09 12:40pm From: BodegaMan

listening to the iTunes feed now.

Wed. 9/30/09 12:40pm From: Dean

I remember Dory Previn had a song called King Kong.

Wed. 9/30/09 12:43pm From: BSI

Doron:
Seems OK now. ... though it was weird: is there a time-lag between 32 and 128? I stopped 32 & went to 128 and it seemed like I went from Maria's announcement to the tune already started.

Time trippy! -- but yeh: seems fine now.

Wed. 9/30/09 12:44pm From: Marshall Stacks

Hi Doron and Maria, The 128K WFMU and Ubu streams weren't working, though the Ichiban 128K stream was. As of 10 minutes ago or so all are OK.

Wed. 9/30/09 12:49pm From: dc pat

BSI: definitely time lag--us 32k listeners always get everything WAY after everyone else...

Wed. 9/30/09 12:52pm From: dc pat

Nikki Sudden once said to a friend of mine "if you can't play your songs on an acoustic guitar then they're not really songs"

Wed. 9/30/09 12:54pm From: annie

HTRK- hot rock!

Wed. 9/30/09 12:57pm From: dc pat

ken says it's HTRK=hate rock

Wed. 9/30/09 12:58pm From: annie

you could sing the apples and bananas song: apples and bananas, eepples and baneenees, oopples and banoonoos., upples and banunas... sorry, but i had to get it out of my head. i feel better now.

Wed. 9/30/09 12:58pm From: maria

I Dont Care what anyone sez, to me it's HATRACK!!

Wed. 9/30/09 1:00pm From: Wayne Gretzky

Hat Trick.

Wed. 9/30/09 1:05pm From: Maria

It is a Mimosa Tree, By the way

Wed. 9/30/09 1:15pm From: dc pat

Hit Rick...I hate that guy..

Wed. 9/30/09 1:17pm From: Curmudgeon

I just hate rock!

Wed. 9/30/09 1:19pm From: Ken From Hyde Park

I'm listening to the 128k stream with Winamp and it cuts out momentarily every few minutes and then picks up again.

Wed. 9/30/09 1:21pm From: LizGig

I have a CD with the unencouraging title The World of Drums and Percussion and an even less appealing cover. It's fantastic. If you like what Maria is currently playing, it's worth checking out. Might be out of print, but if you see it second hand, snap it up.

Wed. 9/30/09 1:30pm From: Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn

I wish my parents had named me "Reverend Horton Heat." What a great name. Some people have all the luck.

Wed. 9/30/09 1:37pm From: Guerin

After our host mentioned her Sony recorder, we heard a song behind her patter. WHAT WAS IT? There is goes again!

Wed. 9/30/09 1:41pm From: Maria

sorry it was My Little Red Book by Love

Wed. 9/30/09 1:55pm From: Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn

I thought Mao wrote that one.

Wed. 9/30/09 1:57pm From: GP

Yo La Tengo never sounds the same way twice to me. I still don't know if I like that or not...yeah, I guess I do.

Wed. 9/30/09 2:01pm From: Maria

They keep themselves entertained and engaged- can you imagine sounding the same after so many albums?

Wed. 9/30/09 2:03pm From: GP

10-4 on that Maria. I also meant that every time I listen I hear something different that I missed the first time around.

Good stuff indeed.

Wed. 9/30/09 2:04pm From: Maria

Wed. 9/30/09 2:41pm From: PMD

Wed. 9/30/09 2:44pm From: Parq

I dig yer mood Maria, thanks for the wonderful show!

Wed. 9/30/09 2:49pm From: Looms (France)

Maria, thanks for the programm and for this fine old tune (after so many years, i'm not bored of that song and the wonderful Midnight Cowboy screen store). Hope to hear you again at that same schedule time)

Wed. 9/30/09 2:50pm From: kid brody

Right on, Maria! I agree with you re: listening to Nilsson all afternoon. I'd actually like to hear more of his tunes; don't know if I have heard anything but the song you played. Thanks for making my afternoon better!

Wed. 9/30/09 2:50pm From: BSI

Wed. 9/30/09 2:50pm From: BSI
