I'm an American that just moved to the island of Jersey in January. This island rocks. It's beautiful, peaceful, a really tranquil place to live. You can drive by an amazing farmland and then run into spectacular coastline five minutes later. I lived in manhattan for 14 years before this, and the island of Jersey is definitely a welcome change of pace after 14 years of Manhattan.
  Fri. 10/2/09 9:31am Wade:

LOVES VELOFAX!
  Fri. 10/2/09 9:35am Parq:

Do Jersey cows listen to Frankie Valli and say "fuggedaboudit"?
  Fri. 10/2/09 9:41am Baba:

I think that's "cryogenics."
  Fri. 10/2/09 9:47am dragonflyshards:

Billyjams, methinks a live broadcast of you milking a cow would fit in nicely with Michael Shelly's show.
  Fri. 10/2/09 9:47am fishmonkeystew:

  Fri. 10/2/09 10:52am fishmonkeystew:

Go SKA!
  Fri. 10/2/09 10:55am Cecile:

I think it was because the writers and programmers were so gun-ho on people in the US not "getting" ska. When pretty much anyone who saw a ska show or heard the Specials or Desmond Dekker was hooked
  Fri. 10/2/09 10:55am Cecile:

yay Natty Bo!
  Fri. 10/2/09 10:56am Jenn:

Shout out from NYC.
Beautiful accapella voice.
You've got to ska ska ska!
Love the accent.
  Fri. 10/2/09 10:56am nasok:

ska was huge in local american scenes, but without commercial radio support it never attained true culture-wide acceptance. if i remember correctly it was when clear channel started buying everything up and turning all radio stations into classic rock format. early 90s?
  Fri. 10/2/09 10:58am [-__-]:

i beeive he might be referring to Ska's popularity in the 60's in England, etc
  Fri. 10/2/09 10:59am Cecile:

I think the current youth see it as a big niche, like Goth. And it's certainly worked its way into a lot of rock music.

And I myself was talking about ska in the US in the late 70s.
  Fri. 10/2/09 10:59am Ike:

Great to hear you back on the air again, Billy! BTW, way back at 9:07, I was listening on FM and the background/bed music sounded good and I could hear the vocals fine even before you turned them up and killed the bed.
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:00am Parq:

I don't remember first-wave ska getting played in the US. By the time second wave broke in '79, Peter Tosh, Johhny Nash and Desmond Dekker all had top-40 hits -- Dekker's in the 60s.
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:02am GP:

Ha ha. I though for a second you said the "Blancmange" film festival...had to go back up and look at the real name.
Fri. 10/2/09 11:02am Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

nuffin like the Tea and a Biccy
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:05am Cecile:

Britfilm:
Ealing Studio Films!

And what's up with Bill Forsythe? He hasn't made a good film in 20 years.
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:05am Ike:

Tea! Tea! Tea!
Fri. 10/2/09 11:06am Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

.... But I'll pass on those Jellied eels ty ....
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:07am Jenn:

Cucumber sandwiches?
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:08am Cecile:

I do like a good eel roll at the sushi bar
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:10am Cecile:

YAY Billy Jam singing!
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:11am Jenn:

YAY! Thanks for mentioning KOOKUMBER sandwiches Billy!

Save me one.
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:21am Jenn:

Prodigy! Lovely song Isaac.
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:22am GP:

A round of Marmite for everyone!
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:23am GP:

<Claps> Nice song Isaac.
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:24am Cecile:

hurrah, Isaac
and yay!!!! Billy Jam is back!
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:28am Jenn:

Bring dat beat back Isaac!
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:29am Jenn:

That was bad. Like Michael Jackson bad.
Fri. 10/2/09 11:31am north guinea hills:

  Fri. 10/2/09 11:34am Parq:

I'm with him -- "Some/Hot" is a killer.
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:35am Carew:

How come everybody from Jersey has an English sounding accent?
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:36am Cecile:

Parq, I love that movie.
And the curator is awesome!
I have friends who are knowledgeable Marilyn fans such as he.
Fri. 10/2/09 11:38am north guinea hills:

Do any people in Jersey still speak Jèrriais? Curious.

(yes, i did history in university)
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:48am Cecile:

AH! I can now jack my body with impunity again! Thanks for the techno, Billy
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:48am Ike:

It's definitely not quitus.com, that's a parked ad page owned by my evil employers or a competitor. And quietus.com isn't working for me either. Anyway, nice techno.
Fri. 10/2/09 11:52am Ken From Hyde Park:

Can Jersey residents enter the Olympics under their own flag? On a related note, Chicago was eliminated from the 2016 vote.
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:53am BSI:

Sorry comrades, I'm a bit late to the party.
are we having stream issues again?
shall I take the TINY BLACK PILL that will end all my pain?
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:53am Cecile:

YAY Donald Glaude!
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:54am Ike:

The AAC+ stream sounds perfect this morning.

Oh, and Xanthe has a beautiful voice.
  Fri. 10/2/09 11:58am GP:

  Fri. 10/16/09 2:58pm Lisa M:
