Listener comments!

Mon. 9/28/09 12:22am From: Stuckey

Hey Betsy. Great music!

Mon. 9/28/09 12:23am From: ian

tbh the only reason half of new york goes to the farmers market is to flirt with strange vendors.

Mon. 9/28/09 12:24am From: Betsy

Hey Stuckey, thanks! One of my favorite Southern restaurants is called Stuckey's. Do you own those restaurants?!?!?!

Mon. 9/28/09 12:25am From: Stuckey

Nope! Just a guy named (last-named) Stuckey

Mon. 9/28/09 12:28am From: Steve

Interesting, I was just listening to your fill-in for Laura Cantrell on May5 5th earlier today, very impressed and then ZAM - here you are tonight.

Mon. 9/28/09 12:28am From: Betsy

Ha! Ian I tried to reply to you but I added the post equation wrong. Apparently 3 + 4 is not 6. Yes you're right the farmer's market is for flirting only.

Mon. 9/28/09 12:29am From: Betsy

Hey Steve! Zam here I Yam.

Mon. 9/28/09 12:30am From: ian

<3 the nesmith!

Mon. 9/28/09 12:31am From: Betsy

Oh God me too.

Mon. 9/28/09 12:32am From: Steve

I'll try listening to a Dave Mandle archive and maybe that will bring him back to life.

Mon. 9/28/09 12:35am From: Betsy

Ha! He's alive. I took the train to Brooklyn with him tonight when the power blew here.

Mon. 9/28/09 12:39am From: ian

this is really nice. how come i've never heard of this julie covington lady before?

Mon. 9/28/09 12:41am From: Steve

With just two releases, its a wonder anyone has heard of her; but this is FMU.

Mon. 9/28/09 12:42am From: Betsy

I know! So pretty! Sadly I know nothing about her. Just another wispy waif in the willows I guess.

Mon. 9/28/09 12:44am From: ian

wikipedia tells me she got her big break via musical theater. Godspell, and apparently the original recording of "Don't Cry For Me Argentina"--ooh hurley. the best jam. Smokey the bear verse kills me all the time.

Mon. 9/28/09 12:46am From: Betsy

Oh wow! Godspell. That's like Caroline Peyton but in reverse - Peyton now sings on Disney soundtracks like "Aladdin" & The Little Mermaid

Mon. 9/28/09 12:48am From: ian

my other fave musical theater lady is Sally Eaton, whose "Farewell American Tour" album has a killer opening track and a few other gems as well. really cheap too, usually a $5 record.

Mon. 9/28/09 12:51am From: Betsy

HUh, never heard of her! I'll have to look for that, it might be around here somewheres...

Mon. 9/28/09 12:54am From: pfapfap

Damn, I'm taken back to the days before this kind of music was ubiquitous in car commercials.

Mon. 9/28/09 12:57am From: Betsy

Oh, I wish I didn't have to talk! Hi FapFap I know what you mean about the car commercials. I do love this song though

Mon. 9/28/09 12:57am From: pfapfap

Oh, yeah, didn't mean it as a slight. Definitely turned it up. :)

Mon. 9/28/09 12:59am From: Betsy

I'm obsessed with the shenanigans of whoever these guys are. Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxSmSJYbaUk

Mon. 9/28/09 1:01am From: Betsy

No slight taken FapFap!

Mon. 9/28/09 1:08am From: Steve

This is getting serious. Seat belts please everyone.

Mon. 9/28/09 1:11am From: Betsy

I am nothing if not DEADLY serious.

Mon. 9/28/09 1:21am From: ian

this last set is totally killing it.

Mon. 9/28/09 1:24am From: Betsy

Hey thanks Ian! Givin' it my all cuz I'm following Monica tonight.

Mon. 9/28/09 1:25am From: Steve

FYI - Aretha is "Queen of Soul", but who then is the king? According to a DVD I just watched - Solomon Burke.

Mon. 9/28/09 1:29am From: Betsy

Ha! Good question. I think there was an Otis Redding/Carla Thomas record where they were Kings & Queens, but only as playing cards.

Mon. 9/28/09 1:30am From: waaaahht

"only"!! as though there's a better way to be immortalized.

Mon. 9/28/09 1:31am From: Steve

Solomon does have a throne on stage when performing, where does that leave James Brown - just the "hardest working man" in showbiz?

Mon. 9/28/09 1:33am From: Steve

This is what happens when I take the seatbelt off my MOUTH.

Mon. 9/28/09 1:39am From: Betsy

James is the Godfather of Soul. The pecking order can get confusing!

Mon. 9/28/09 1:50am From: Dan E

HAHAHA - one of my favorite Townshend albums, unreleased or otherwise! Great set, as always...

Mon. 9/28/09 1:53am From: Betsy

Oh, well I had an excellent source for that one. Nice to see you, Dan-O!

Mon. 9/28/09 2:30am From: ian

think you mean Yom Kippur, but thanks!

Mon. 9/28/09 2:32am From: Betsy

Oy gevault, really?? Oops. That's what I get for being a minister's kid from Tennessee trying to talk Jewish holidays. I should fast just for that blooper!

Mon. 9/28/09 2:33am From: ian

HA.

Mon. 9/28/09 2:34am From: ian

passover is the one with the wine & matzoh ball soup and big party.

Mon. 9/28/09 2:36am From: Betsy

Oh yeah, that's the one I'm always jealous of! I guess I get Christmas, but whatevs. I want brisket

Mon. 9/28/09 2:39am From: ian

brisket is the best no doubt.

Mon. 9/28/09 2:54am From: Dan E

As is "Days" - definitely the brisket of the Kinks!

Mon. 9/28/09 2:57am From: Steve

Thanks Betsy, what a nice way to spend a Sunday evening (California).

Thu. 10/1/09 4:37pm From: roddbagg
