Listener comments!

  12:04pm paul from sheffield UK:

Hi folks, jolly nice to be here.
  12:11pm Parq:

Whoo, Los Straits and then SCOTUS. Joe, were you at that Bowery Ballroom show?
  12:12pm Cecile:

Hi, Paul. Hi, Parq, love the surf musicas in the afternoon.
  12:12pm GP:

Joe,
Thanks for the S.C.O.T.S. Their show was one of the best live shows I have seen..fun, fun!
  12:15pm dc pat:

dangit, I always forget to go see SCOTS. I saw them (twice) at the Johnstown Folkfest years ago and they ripped.
  12:17pm Cecile:

yes, jim carroll.
very sad.
  12:25pm annie:

i am disappointed there have been no tribute sets to mr swayze!! :)
  12:27pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Trent had a couple for Patrick Swayze last night. Nice to hear the Jim Carroll tunes.
  12:30pm rubble:

I dont think it's a downer to memorialize musicians,Joe! I think it's a celebration of their contribution!
  12:31pm Joe B:

Thanks Rubble! Hi all, thanks for tunin' in and commenting.
  12:37pm gumby:

Excellent point rubble! And since I can't keep up with the world at large I would have no idea of the passing of those who soothe, stir up or kick the ass of my musical soul. I would put Jim Carroll in th elater category.
  12:41pm Cecile:

ass, soul
hee gumby.
  12:42pm dc pat:

holy crap! I think this version is better than the original!! Never thought I'd say that about ANY Kinks tune...
  12:45pm Cecile:

I love Mark Lanegan. Never dug him in the Screaming Trees, but his solo stuff is choice.
  12:48pm Cecile:

I gotta buy that damn Tinted Windows disc already.
  1:02pm dc pat:

and I gotta buy that Wau Y Los Arrrghs!! disc already
  1:10pm Parq:

Love the song "Roam" and way-digging this cover.
  1:26pm Carmichael:

Yes! King Kahn's my man.
  1:27pm Eric:

WOW Best Stones song ever killer set Black Lips, Kahn, Rolling Stones Thank you
  1:28pm Carmichael:

@Cecile: Did you see TW on DirectV channel 101 about a month ago? They played most of the album.
  1:33pm Cecile:

no! I should see if they replay it.
  1:42pm Carmichael:

I also saw King Khan on some skateboarding show on the Speed Channel, or some other station I rarely watch. He was the studio entertainment in between shredder kids.

Since I was in a bar, the sound was turned down. And the longer I stayed to figure out the show details, the less I was able to.
  1:56pm Carmichael:

Utopia! Kind of.
  1:56pm Cecile:

Carm, they might have that appearance on their band website.
  1:57pm gumby:

Everything, including the anticipated Venezuelan Missle Crisis is Todd Rundgrens fault.
  1:58pm Cecile:

I missed the Pernice Bros stuff...
  2:06pm Cecile:

I agree with Volume 2 - the covers are really standard.
  2:25pm Parq:

I realize that Rod S has arguably turned himself into exactly the sort of mega-mainstream asshole that FMUers love to hate. But I had friends who hated Rod & the Faces back in the day. And I'm sorry, you guys, but you were wrong.
2:29pm Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn:

Dylan's lyrics at its mocking best.
  2:31pm Gp:

10-4 on that Parq. My friends Metalcore band always close their show with the Faces "Oh La La" just to do something different, the crowds love it, and so do they.
  2:33pm Cecile:

I love Rod's voice. His taste is another matter. He needs a strong personality around him to keep him in line.

that's great GP
  2:34pm Carmichael:

Old dangerous Rod & Company were cool as hell. Ron Wood's steel guitar was kissable.

New safe Rod belongs on K-Tel, alongside Richard Clayderman.
  2:35pm Cecile:

Carm. Hell, yeah.
  2:39pm dc pat:

this suppersuckers tune sounds a lot like Leave Me Alone by J. Thunders.
  2:43pm Delia:

any good live shows this week in the nj/ny area?
  2:44pm David Shortell:

According to some FMU DJ (maybe Joe), Rod admitted that his "old lady music" recordings were not his own idea!
  2:45pm Joe B:

Delia, tons of great shows. Tonight - the Zeroes at Southpaw or Wau Y Los Args & the Demands at Maxwells, or Box Elders at Cakeshop.
  2:49pm Delia:

thanks joe
  2:50pm dc pat:

gads I wish Wau and the boys would come to DC
  2:52pm Carmichael:

Thanks for the fine fine fine fine music. Oh! My life was saved by rock n roll. Ya baby, rock n roll.
  2:52pm Parq:

Are Wau Y Los Args playing on the NYC side of the big stream at all?
  2:53pm Pushover Paige:

Great show today Joe!
  2:57pm GeorgeSimian:

This is an awesome song. The John Doe and the Sadies. It is a great show today.
  3:23pm MIKETP:
