Aloha Maria und Die listening Leuten.
  12:10pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

  12:17pm
annie:

hhmm.. i knew this would happen, i really have to get outside and get some garden work done.. and i am sucked in to radio-nation..ah. well... i can wait.. nice tunes maria!
  12:19pm
maria:

Annie! put the speakers out the window- best of both worlds
  12:22pm
Carmichael:

Annie, with all the gardening you do, your place should like the Hanging Gardens of Babylon.

Denise, that Tiny Tim song has been described as "Mr. Ed at a piano bar." That's why I like it so much.

Maria, this is the mellowest stuff I've ever heard. My blood pressure is down around 11 right now.
  12:24pm
esch oder anarchie!:

Is "Die listening Leuten" something like "Die Bart Die" (= the Bart, the)?
  12:25pm
annie:

carm, t'were it so. mostly i am weeding and wading through mud. today i am pulling any potatoes i might have left from the blight we had. the only thing that's happy out there are the carrots.. .. pretty sad year for this region,
  12:27pm
bryce:

BLAVORTSKY!
  12:27pm
annie:

i should go back to flowers and perennials.
  12:27pm
bryce:

  12:28pm
Carmichael:

  12:28pm
annie:

i'm planting some autumn crocus and saffron crocus as well..
  12:29pm
clueless in MI:

hold on, its the door
  12:31pm
still b/p:

dei x -- I'm going to Frantasia for the first time. Friend of mine lives in festival town and performs self-taught throat singing in Friday line-up. Can only imagine what else I'll hear.
  12:35pm
mark:

hello maria
  12:38pm
mark:

i'm currently growing some cress on some damp kitchen roll
  12:41pm
jamesie:

I am cooking chicken stuffed in gorgonzola warpped in bacon. Its Effric who wants us to eat the food combining diet. I cant eat cress tonight.
  12:44pm
jeremy the listener:

naked biker chicks in the desert meeting up with aliens? awesome.
  12:48pm
still b/p:

"naked biker chicks in the desert meeting up with aliens"
GNFAB? No, but a good movie pitch or good take on a Rorschach blot.
  12:50pm
dc pat:

I've got 35 tomatoes on 3 plants in pots on my deck. The cat birds have stopped attacking them. My cat has started eating (killing anyway) rats again.
  12:54pm
boris:

anyone from dc here who saw Love at the velvet lounge last night?
  12:59pm
clueless:

my doorbell IS that one
  12:59pm
dc pat:

ho jeeze, Love? What ever Love is now breaks my "half rule" -- if over half of the band is either dead or not in the band anymore, it's a different band.
  1:00pm
amy:

I was wondering the same. Especially after reading that article in the Post detailing how badly the tour is going.
  1:00pm
AnAnonymousParty:

Modern doorbells can be programmed to play individual .mp3 files keyed to the button presser's fingerprint.
  1:00pm
dc pat:

not that Johnny Echols isn't cool, but...let's call it "the Johnny Echols Four" or something
  1:02pm
boris:

i agree with the half rule. esp now that arthur lee isn't with them anymore.
  1:05pm
dummy:

How about "Like"
  1:10pm
boris:

music that melts my ears
  1:10pm
jon:

owwww I like this Textile stuff.
  1:11pm
dc pat:

the half rule is tricky because some members add up to more than one member...
  1:35pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

"scaring the coworkers"
sounds good!!
  1:38pm
dc pat:

this tune RULES!!
  1:38pm
annie:

pat, you rock!! imagine all the tomato sauce you will be consuming this coming year!! have just now harvested about 5 pounds of fingerlings.. should be thrice as much.. and the other potatoes i planted have rotted.. i'm sad.. yet!!! i am here and listening to maria! and plan to pour myself a nice cold ice glass of water into which i will combine absinthe!! perfect for the humidity today!
  1:39pm
boris:

dv/nova was real nice last night after the rain
  1:46pm
annie:

our rain came through last night during the last five minutes of a pretty good movie on hulu.. stupid puter shut off three times..
  1:50pm
dc pat:

right on, annie. I prefer to eat them right off the vine but might be too much to handle..absinthe, eh??
  1:52pm
annie:

yes absinthe, there ia a brewery right near me.. she makes the best... google "meadow of love" or "walton waters" my fave is meadow of love. she uses diff herbs for each.. just wonderful!
  1:59pm
Parq:

Enjoying local brewing is getting to be one of the best reasons to travel. We went out of our way to sample local micro-brews and wines when we were on out trip this summer.
  2:06pm
annie:

long ago, back in the late 70s, when i was living in eugene. there was a great beer called "henry weinhart's private reserve" it was fantastic.
  2:11pm
Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn:

For Patrick Hand's next trick, he is going to promote a tour of the Jimi Hendrix Experience.
  2:19pm
Daevid:

Really dug the Gui Boratto stuff. Now trying to track down the vinyl!
  2:20pm
Carmichael:

re: Boris @ 12:54, who is touring as Love? 3 of them are dead. Are Eliott Easton and Jerry Corbetta sittin' in?
  2:22pm
Carmichael:

Parq, I did the same thing. The Great Basin Brewing Co. in Reno has an IPA that's to die for.
  2:24pm
doug from DC:

Carm: arrgh, I missed the Love gig last night. My sched is thrown off since I went out of town and took Monday off. Love, in this incarnation, is original guitarist Johnny Echols, w/Baby Lemonade, who backed Arthur Lee in 1994, backing Echols on this tour.
  2:24pm
annie:

oh, carm. just thought you'd want to know cecile is taking a couple days off.. she might be around ..
  2:27pm
no one in particular:

@annie: weinhart's was still available in frisco as late as the 90s. I agree, it's a fine brew, not as good as Sleeman No. 20 Ale tho'
  2:28pm
doug from DC:

Gui is pronounced like ghee, the shortening from India. It was great to hear the Boratto tracks while walking around town at lunch. Digging the new WFMU iPhone app.
  2:29pm
annie:

i was pleasantly surprised to see that it had reached as far east as denver.. we have a small deli in oneonta that specializes in those micro brews.. an amazing collection.. i love beer, miss it badly,
  2:29pm
Carmichael:

OK Annie. I thought I would harass Ken in her absence.

Doug, I don't know how to feel about that Love incarnation. I'd say it's a real stretch, honestly.
  2:30pm
no one in particular:

...wonders what places Maria visited while in Montreal (I used to live there)
  2:32pm
Whooo!:

Yeah!
  2:33pm
Dum Dum Guy at the Gates of Dawn:

Re Love: Is that like Ringo Starr going on the Road and calling himself The Beatles?
  2:35pm
Carmichael:

Annie, Henry Weinhard's used to be pretty darn good, until they sold out to Pabst around 1980. Sadly, they're just another Miller brand these days.
  2:37pm
annie:

that would 'splain why they hit denver.. :(
  2:39pm
maria:

NOIP-- I went for a wedding sothat was most of the activity, also riding our bicycles around the Mont Royal neighborhood, and down to the waterfront. NICE city!
  2:41pm
doug from DC:

According to the guy putting on the show, "Love" was supposed to play songs from the first three albums "in a suitably rocking manner." But it does sound like a tribute band.
  2:45pm
annie:

maria, who do i have to shell out the payola to in order to keep you on this time slot??
  2:47pm
Denise in Washington, DC:

I third annie's comment, Maria.
  2:49pm
maria:

\i/
;>)
/I\
  2:50pm
annie:

hmm.. looks like we have to feed the kitty... ok.
  2:53pm
Parq:

Dum, "Ringo" analogy is perfect. What if Joey Covington got himself a fairly decent guitar-bass pair and went out on the road calling it Hot Tuna?
