Hey BB, thanks for your efforts today from the folks at 911 dispatch.

Hey, what was that track a few minutes ago with the tuba that went "why are you killing me, why are you killing me..."?

Sat. 8/1/09 9:28am From: Jack

Was that a tuba? My question is: who was playing it? Amazing! Thanks, Bob, for Roy Nathanson.

Sat. 8/1/09 9:41am From: Jack

Just finished yesterday reading "Blues People" by Imanu Amiri Baraka ( Leroi Jones ) A truly great book. Recommended if you haven't read it.

Sat. 8/1/09 10:18am From: Jack

Adam- I can believe that. He still pisses people off ( see "Somebody Blew Up America" ) "Blues People" from 1963 is one of the best analysis of slavery, the Blues, and Jazz, ever written.

Sat. 8/1/09 10:24am From: Jack

or I should say: that I've ever read...

Sat. 8/1/09 10:29am From: Adam

I agree with you. I don't have any problem with Somebody Blew Up . . . (every time I used to hear news people say Condoleeza Rice, I would shout - That Skeezah Condoleeza). He is trans-curmudgeonly.

The best thing that I ever heard him say was when he was talking about being radicalized and he said "I got God in my back pocket and he aint got but six shells" One of the high points of my college career.

He does inform a lot of the way that I look at music, though.

Another 'smokin' show bb!

Sat. 8/1/09 10:58am From: Jack

"trans-curmudgeonly"= good one!
Yes, I feel the same way: the way I look at music (as opposed to the business of music )
