Playlist for Bill Zurat - July 31, 2009

WFMU 91.1 fm 90.1 fm wfmu.org

Some pop, fumbling musicians, bedroom recordings, vocal harmonies with orchestras, elongated notes, tape hiss, one-chord wonders, analog synths + clicking drum machines, loners, breezy country, and brief cacophonous interruptions.

Bill, since you're too cool to do the Facebook...

11 hours ago:

looking forward to hearing the one and only Bill Zurat play... whatever he chooses to play, when he does a fill-in on WFMU tonight, from 11 Eastern. Will there be little-known proto-glam? Synthpop? Some East German twanging on a piano string strung across his garret until you want to claw your eyes out? Only Bill knows.

19 minutes ago:

He's in fine form. I left the radio on when I left to walk the dog; when I came back Kathryn had returned from work, and the speaker in the kitchen was turned off.

"What happened to the music?" quoth I. "Bill's on."

"Did you HEAR what he was playing?" she asked. "It sounded like music from a radio station that was too far away to tune in without a lot of static. I couldn't take it any more."

Go Bill.

Sat. 8/1/09 12:43am From: Jeff M

These songs after the last mic break have been anaesthetizing me. (In a good way, I hasten to add!) Really. So much so that typing the exclamation mark in a previous sentence kind of hurt, it was too high-energy.

Don't get all buzzy or jangly or suchlike too suddenly, please.

I guess you could morph into... a country thing?

I'm just along for the ride. With a margarita.

Sat. 8/1/09 12:46am From: Ted L

I'm wearing velour. Actually, I AM velour.

Sat. 8/1/09 12:55am From: Jeff M

I need a Valium with my Margarita. (Okay, it's my fault, I was playing the Kluster&#$* in 6-speaker faux surround sound.)
